  1. Hi HB, I just watched Diesel Thunder's latest Germany video using a cart start and noticed there was no smoke. Is this something you'll be adding to cartridge starts in the future? I read in the manual that pilots would close the canopy so they weren't overcome by fumes. Could be cool to add a hypoxia-like affect if you forgot to close it. Cheers,
  2. Damn, I've just found @Monkman911's thread on the Winwing Orion 2 default deadzone being massive. I thought the default was zero. Thanks @Dragon1-1 and @Monkman911. Hopefully this helps thread the needle!
  3. Congratulations! Any more tips for us mere mortals? I’ve managed to get connected for about five seconds after spending half an hour trying to get lined up. Even the tiniest throttle movements seem to be too much! I’ve taken to splitting the throttles, but still over/under shooting annoyingly. Maybe just more practice…
  4. It would be great if there was a 'spotlight' translation, where only the area you were looking directly at was translated into your native language.
  5. This is great, thank you. I also usually have those kneeboards on a second monitor. You can grab them here.
  6. I was really surprised how tiny and crammed the cockpit actually is in there. The instruments would probably feel quite far forward irl.
  7. Just a couple of things: TAS is only really used for navigation, so not a big deal to plop on the autopilot and zoom in if you need. As for the ASI, even if you can’t see the actual numbers on the knots indicator inside the Mach scale, you should be able to see the bold 50/100 knot markers. So once you’re below 300 knots for landing say, then it’s straightforward to glance down and know how fast you’re going pretty quickly. At least that’s what works for me. When I started flying the F-4, I didn’t even notice the knots indicator inside the Mach scale, so I was having the same issues trying to see the TAS, tucked away as it is.
  8. Those mission texts shown on screen exist as individual kneeboards. I saved them out for my own use a while back. You can grab them from here. there’s a Pureref file in some of the folders as well, to make it easier to switch between boards on a second screen.
  9. It would also be great if the harness could be hidden when you put the helmet on. Always feels a bit weird it just sitting there inflight when the body's hidden.
  10. I mean it's virtually impossible to see them with head tracking software anyway. A separate CB panel popup, something like the bombing table might work nicely.
  11. Getting the same thing after updating today. That janky app really needs a rebuild. Preferably by someone with some UX/UI skills.
  12. I’ll probably give this a miss. The F-35 cockpit has all the visual appeal of a truckstop ATM.
  13. It means there’s an aircraft interception radar in search mode that’s been picked up by the Radar Warning Receiver. there’s a bunch of brevity codes here to get you started: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiservice_tactical_brevity_code
  14. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/foi-responses-released-by-mod-week-commencing-13-january-2020 Some quite useful info (especially for noobs like me) on radar, navigation etc in a military context: Volume 1 The Principles of Flight Volume 2 Aircraft Performance Volume 3 Propulsion Volume 4 Aircraft System Volume 5 Flight Instruments Volume 6: Aviation Medicine Volume 7: Avionics Volume 8: Aircraft Operations Volume 9: Navigation Volume 10: Meteorology AP3456Met Volume 11: Radar Volume 12: Helicopter Volume 13: Maths and Physics Volume 14: Electronics
  15. It's a great picture. Love the lighting. @Bazz_Mulder: I made a 4K one for my own use with Topaz AI upscaler, posted below. @Vox Let me know if you're ok with this, if not I'll delete it.
  16. Save your money and don’t bother with TrackIR for head tracking. A cheap webcam with OpenTrack + AI Track software will work perfectly. There’s some good YouTube videos on how to set that up. Pretty straightforward stuff. I can definitely recommend the Winwing Metal Warthog HOTAS. Some second hand Thrustmaster rudders from eBay will save you a bit of money too. Hope you have a lot of fun with DCS! Don’t worry too much about bugs and the like. Would be good to hear how you’re getting on!
  17. Thanks for the workarounds guys, I'll leave it as unsolved at present. Hopefully ED will pick it up and fix it properly.
  18. Hi ED, Found an annoying audio bug: If you pause the game and choose 'Messages History', then click 'Close' there is no sound on returning to the cockpit. As a workaround, you have to pause again, go to 'Briefing', then click 'Fly' and sound returns.
  19. Hi HB, Just a few things to polish up this magnificent beast: Sound If you pause the game and choose 'Messages History', then click 'Close' there is no sound on returning to the cockpit. (As a workaround; if you pause again, go to 'Briefing', then click 'Fly' the sound returns.) DCS Issue, reposting in appropriate forum Training Missions Dive Toss tutorial Not a biggie, but in the voiceover, it mentions that you should see a smoke marker at the disused airfield near Kobuleti, but it isn't there. Model Nose/Tail Arming Switch It looks like the wrong (2-way) switch housing is being used, as the switch geometry intersects the housing: Here's an original: Which looks the same (near enough) as this one in the WSO radar panel, so hopefully easy to swap out: Speaking of the WSO, I think this should be AOJ, no? [Something] on Jam? (The manual mentions AOJ rather than AOU.) Anyway, only small stuff, but thought it was worth mentioning. Cheers guys. Tim
  20. Agreed. I've already created a thread for this here. Might be worth adding your voice: Hopefully this will get some traction and response from ED.
  21. Whilst we’re making requests; it would be great to have deep dive training on navigation/radio navigation with all the different modes along with ILS landings etc in various weather scenarios, fog/mist/rain, night flying etc
  22. Have you checked out the MIG Killers training campaign? Might give you the skills you’re looking for. Looking to buy it myself, once I’ve finished basic training. Only a tenner as well, which is a bargain, considering the research that went into it.
  23. Working now as well. Thanks for sorting, @BIGNEWY and team, being Xmas day and all. Have a great xmas break.
  24. Update: Thanks for all your advice peeps. I just got round to retrying the lesson and finished it successfully! Woop! Guess I just needed to be more accurate on basically everything , but I feel a lot more confident navigating now. Thanks again!
  25. I think the problem was I kept getting a bit overwhelmed as I'm new to this and kept checking my numbers for the next turnpoint I'd written down, which is why I flew past the radial. I was trying to set up the third waypoint as a last ditch attempt to get on course, shown here: I've got lots to learn for sure! I understand the concept of radials and DMEs (I completed the visual landing mission first time using it), but it's utilising it under pressure when there's quick waypoints and loads of other things to think about. I think also I need to be more aggressive in turns like Corn322 mentioned. I'm used to flying 30° banks in a Cessna irl!
