In most cases the mobo's onboard sound is plenty good enough. If you need a second solution for SimHaptic (etc), a USB DAC box is sufficient.
-
In IL2, I've had occasional occurrences of the unit going black screen. At first I thought I was accidentally fingering the power button but it wasn't that. It's happened both in-game and while on the PP home screen.
-
I wouldn't know how.
-
Go into offline mode (hover your cursor over your avatar at the top right).

It's the same in IL2, noticeably the clouds are fubar.
-
Does it mention a fix for the CPR (in IL2 in my case)?

Personally, I speculate that the Super's moira (or mura) is a feature on such a high-rez panel and doesn't differ from one headset to another. But maybe I'm wrong. I can see it in mine if I look for it, at which point it can piss me off, until I remember not to look for it. Then, I no longer register it.
-
Maybe give it a good few hours of actual in-game use and see if you stop registering/noticing it. It's pretty much the same thing we went through with the old screen-door effect, easy to see if looked for but after a while it stops registering.
-
I reckon it's a combination of high-rez/low-rez zones on a moira-prone panel.
-
Same in IL2 at night but it's not a game breaker, so meh.
-
Yeah, that 'moira'. When I noticed the 'grey filter' I didn't know that was the moira everyone was talking about. I guess it used to be called 'the screen door effect', but now that it's on 'retina level' PPD it's called 'moira'. Maybe it's more pronounced on Q-LED panels. Whatever, I guess it hits everyone differently because I don't believe some panels have more or less of it. I can see it if I look for it but in the game it no longer registers in my perception. Train the brain I guess. Not impressed that Pimax have broken their promise to keep an adequate stock of units for RMA needs but hey ho, no surprise either. Your next one will have the same issue I predict but if it doesn't LET US KNOW (please) and I'll get mine swapped too. Just because.

Is the Pimax Crystal Super an always online headset, after paying it off?

Go into your account in the PimaxPlay and hover your cursor over your avatar picture top-right. You can select "Offline Mode" there. -

Panzerlang replied to Amazonia's topic in Pimax
No, you won't. Once it's paid for you can click "Account" and turn it offline permanently, though you then won't get any software update notifications. Turn it back online occasionally for those, or wait for announcements from Pimax here for manual download. -
The G2 was decent. Pico4 was pretty good. The OG was rough and hurt my nose after around 30 minutes. I bought the Bolo Strap for the Pico and the Apache for the OG, not that it helped any. Having earphones under the OG was betterer.
-
Good to hear you're happy. The fit is entirely down to luck of the draw vis a vis head shape. Mine is the most comfortable headset I've had (Rift, G2, Pico-4, OG Crystal and now this Super). It is what it is.

In my list it says "Headphones. Pimax P3C10" For me, "Speakers. Realtek USB Audio" is my desktop speakers connected to the mobo via an optical cable.
-
Check the speakers are properly connected to the headset, maybe something is off there.

Still cannot get rid of blur looking to the sides, Pimax Super
Panzerlang replied to Marshallman's topic in Pimax
Just for data reference, flying low over a burning city in IL2 today, mild stutters and FPS at 65. Just a few seconds of it. GPU (5090) is around 95% useage most of the time (so 0.85 render is spot on), CPU (9800X3D) at 45% (proper heavy assets mission). So it's not 'just a DCS thing'. -

FWIW, I'm running the Super at 0.85 on the render slider with 9800X3D and 5090 (in IL2 however), as full 1.0 was at it's very edge of consistent smoothness. At 0.85 it's 100% good. In DCS, the 9800X3D and 5090 at 0.85, 2 vs 1 QM, gave equally good performance but I doubt it would have been as good with a fully loaded mission. Also, over both Mariannas maps, very little stutter on the deck looking left/right. Despite the common complaints about 'generational improvement', it's clear to me that for flight sims at least the 5090 is a significant improvement. -
If you use MB's QV, not the latest one.

Pimax Super, order and delivery dates, please post.
Panzerlang replied to Panzerlang's topic in Pimax
DMAS, no loss, they're rather crap. I run my sound through desktop speakers but for when I was recording video I used wireless headphones. They fit very nicely under the OG and ditto with the Super (and perfectly comfortable too). -
Hmm. I have a 46" monitor about a meter in front of me, with full-screen mirror and my Super has been tracking flawlessly so far.
-
Sounds to me like they're not keeping an adequate stock of units ready to cover RMAs, despite the previous promises to rectify that shortcoming.
