  1. I haz been monkeying with MSI Afterburner, using IL2 for testing. Long story short, using the performance settings in the video above I'm seeing over 100w less power required to run the exact same mission with the exact same performance (89-90fps, all smooth as silk, Super at 0.85 render).
  2. Aha. Same guy, 5090.
  3. Lol. The skin in the video is available in the skin's menu in settings. However, the 5090's curve looks completely different to the 4090's and I'm a lot leery of blowing my <profanity> up.
  4. That's a good tutorial but, unfortunately, MSI have completely changed the look of their app and make it impossible to correlate with the video. I was about to inflict it on my 5090. Oh well.
  5. Sounds like somebody outside is mowing their lawn. I figure my fans have to be working (perfectly silently) because I get zero fogging on the lenses. With the OG, at this time of year, that was a serious issue.
  6. I had a play with it, IL2 went really cock-eyed. Lol.
  7. None of the above. I do have what appears to be one dead pixel (it's that or a tiny grain of dust) and the screen-door effect against bright backgrounds that's like a very pale grey filter over the entire image. I'm wondering recently if that's what everyone calls muira/mura? I'm also assuming the very slight squiffiness I experience when I move my eyes off-center is the binocular overlap not being as good as the OG's. PeeDee, do you have astigmatism in that right eye? I have it in my left and have been thinking about playing with the offset stuff. How does it work?
  8. There is zero advantage to setting a low monitor resolution.
  9. Can't really make sense of that. Is the one you have on a disc or did you download it from their site? The current one is IL2 Battle of Stalingrad, with a whole bunch of DLCs that provide a lot of maps and planes (Moscow, Kuban, Normandy etc etc). They're all available on Steam too, though if you buy direct the devs get a lot more of the moolah.
  10. Check in Device Manager that your USB slots aren't turning themselves off (it's an oldie but worth checking). You have to go into the properties of each and I think it's the Power Management tab. Disable auto power down or something.
  11. I hadn't played DCS for a couple of months and after updating it I noticed it was looking very washed out in the OG Crystal. That improved a bit with the Super (all stock settings). IL2, on the other hand, superb levels in all regards.
  12. Thanks PD, that got it!
  13. Everything I've seen/read indicates the 265k is absolute crap for gaming.
  14. Appears to not be working. I typed DCS into the little search window (next to the drop-down where it says Common Settings), hit enter and nada. I can't figure out any alternative process for it.
  15. CPR is Central Priority Rendering (tick box in the Pimax PLay settings), but it appears it might be making IL2 crash.
  16. Tested the new play and firmware with IL2, Pimax CPR is a game changer. The previous quadviews in DCS were already perfect, though I tested only 2 vs 1 in QM. More stuff (missions) always spanks the CPU before the GPU suffers. The IPD in the Super is way more of a thing than in the OG. I was getting double vision with it set to where I had it in the OG but 67mm seems to have sorted it. No muira, though I can see a kind of shade of screendoor across the entire image. It has to be deliberately looked for though. No chromatic aberration, unlike the OG (it was slight). Physical fit, about as perfect as a headset could be (for me). I got lucky.
  17. I've not found any need for mine, got lucky with the fit this time around.
  18. I've done a handful of test flights in DCS with the Super on a 9800X3D and 5090, so far it's performed very well. The one and only issue has been a visual pause that it either overcomes or leads to a freeze and crash. IL2 has exhibited the same issue. Chief suspect: NVidia drivers.
  19. I've given it a go in IL2. Apart from the auto IPD being a bit sketchy (I intend to set it manually next go, not sure how that's done yet though) it's quite impressive. Flawless performance at native res and 90fps (5090 and 9800X3D). The higher rez over the OG is noticeable and the colours are betterer. The sun though, jeezuz!
  20. Mine's just been delivered. The address on the label is correct and Yamato hadn't already tried to deliver it, so fk knows what Pimax was talking about. Probably sitting there giggling, getting me at it. So, cleared customs on the 12th, I finally get it sixteen days later. I haven't opened the box yet, I've run out of energy.
  21. Lol, it doesn't end. "Hello! After checking with the logistics provider, we wanted to gently let you know that your 50PPD (Tracking Number: ***) couldn’t be delivered successfully and is currently being kept safely at the local logistics station. Please find the service station details below for your reference:" Apart from all the other tracking emails (three different links to three different sites) that say delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, not once in the nearly three years I've been here has any courier failed a delivery. The address is definitely correct. The missus happens to be in town shopping right now, so she's going to ring the provided number and see WTF is going on and maybe pick it up in person (last tracking update says it's at Yamato's in-town office, ready for delivery tomorrow).
  22. I don't know if Calvin kicked somebody's ass but I've had an email (not from support) saying a different courier (Black Cat/Yamato, top tier in Japan) will be delivering the unit on Tuesday (29th July). Way better than Amazon's "8th August". Memory kick...it's Yamato that DHL hand off to here. Fedex use a slower one.
  23. Lol. Couldn't make it up? Pimax managed it. Again.
