I was just poking around and found this: http://www.3dloft.net/sovr_index.html Quite an amazing piece of work, highly detailed animated 3d model of a Sovremenny class destroyer I'm no expert on 3d modeling or anything related to game development for that matter, but can this be used to port into the game if ED purchased the work ?

Not everything :)

Quick another picture :) Was the F-35's competition. You don't even need to know anything about this plane to see why it lost the acquisition program

Who said anything about magical anti-stealth radars ?
-
I didn't say all of them could Never at any point did I talk or want to talk about its situational awareness, and the said effectiveness of stealth can be a huge matter of debate I do not care to entertain.
-
To sacrifice is a known and not be construed as an accident. Of course it was designed that way, I stated it is my opinion that this direction is a mistake. No need to get agitated.

I am sorry if anyone misunderstood, I would never wish a DCS project to fail even if I do not favor the aircraft in question. I believe I never said I did 'not' want the F-35 in DCS in fact I believe I said I wish it would succeed for various reasons that I did explain. To further explain my meaning associated to the F-4 analogy. I did not intent to imply dogfight (guns) with the F-35. Yes in the F-4 era they made the mistake of assuming no gun would be needed because of the speed and distances at which combat would take place. Extrapolate the concept and idea around the F-4 in terms of combat deployment, and it is my opinion they have traded off some vital characteristics to achieve a new idea and way in which the F-35 is perceived to be deployed. Its my opinion the F-35 has sacrificed speed, agility, climb and sustained turn capabilities for stealth, STOVL (model dependent) and general orientation to long range combat BVR. I believe if the F-35 merged with most late model 4th gen fighters it would loose its advantage. Hence my analogy to the F-4. When Migs closed the distance the F-4's lost their advantage in particular with the Mig-21s.

right, so your saying anything can happen. got it.
-
Your taking my words too literally. Are you saying an F-35 will never be in a situation to merge with an opponent ?
-
I was referring to what they said about the F-4.... If I must clarify F-35 is designed to hit from afar, same concept as the F-4 back in the day.
-
I never said it shouldn't be in DCS, it just might be the reason why the kickstarter is doing so poorly if you reference my first post. In terms of history, the F-35 reminds me of the F-4 Phantom... Guns are a thing of the past along with WVR combat.. oops we were wrong.

Who in their right mind voted "I do not want it" ? I take it if they made a Linux dedicated a windows one would be done too ?
-
"Available to share ?"
-
Just found an old media report of questionable credibility.
-
That is an admirable quality. The hypothetical combat efficiency of the F-35 is of interest to me. I don't suppose anyone has any preliminary combat trial / exercises reports available to share ?
-
Time will tell, send me a pm when it happens.
-
semantics There is no big deal its opinion. I'm sure there people that would love to go up against an F-35 in their Mig-21 just for shits and giggles.

I did specify aerial combat as in Air to Air. Considering this aircraft is designed to support the air superiority fighter F-22 it is my opinion it highly likely it will not see aerial combat. Air to Ground... sure.
-
Of course it does. Set aside Georgia as we do not have choice in the matter, but we can certainly look at it in terms aircraft pitting. Especially as it is designed to replace aircraft such as the F-16, F-18 and A-10 3rd, and 4th gen aircraft have been happily playing together for decades now we have a new 5th gen that has not even seen combat nor combat proven, you can even consider it still in its development stages. Its the odd ball out. The F-35 represents a giant leap forward from all previous gen aircraft and in my opinion has no place in any multiplayer designed missions as that is all I play and care to design for. I am certainly biased as a student of history enjoy conflicts relating to known participants. The F-35 to me is a big question mark that in reality will probably never see aerial combat and have no use other than airshows.

The majority of the community do not post on the forums. I know of 7 members in my own community that play DCS and only care for the realism, they never visit the forums. Flaming cliffs is the most sold because its been around the longest. Its appealing because it is currently the only module that allows people to fly air superiority fighters, don't need to be a genius to crunch those numbers. Personal preference. Start a poll and ask "Does realism matter" you will get your answer.

My opinion the F-35 is a good BVR combat aircraft but an expensive WVR fireball. It is such an ambitious project to try and develop an unproven and classified aircraft. It doesnt even suit the current DCS theater, its out of place and to develop believable missions they would have to develop more classified aircraft in which I personally have no interest in. Don't get me wrong I do hope this project is successful mainly because of the additional features they propose to implement that would carry across to all aircraft in DCS world. Contrary to what many people think, the interest of the F-35 is a small group within an already niche community. This community is build mostly on hardcore flight simmers, pilots, ex-pilots and persons in the aviation industry that value accuracy in aircraft modeling over fantasy guess work. If Mr Kinney proved his said ability's on a more modest start, say a Mig-29K/OVT, Su-27K/M, F-15E, F-16E/F or even a F-14D at a DCS A-10C level, then he would have a much better chance with an F-35 campaign as even those opposed to the F-35 would most likely donate purely just to support the flight sim community.

Sooo, I hope this is still a concern of ed's, any progress ? Bump.

Send a key stroke again when off ? Do you mean in the 'target' software ? edit: I just reversed the functions on the switch and decent mode still works correctly and returned to the off position when I center the toggle switch without cycling it. Its just the 'Route' control map in the game that doesn't work.
-
On the collective there is a 3 position switch for autopilot, off, decent and route modes. Center position which is off, back position is decent mode (default 'D' key) and forward is route mode (default 'R' key).. The problem is you cannot correctly map this to any 3 position switches on for example the HOTAS Thrustmaster throttle 3 pos switches. The switch works to the extent that decent and off positions work correctly when switching between positions but route mode requires you to cycle the toggle switch twice in its position for it to switch between off and route. Can this be verified and fixed please.
