I also noticed this with my wingman after the mission. But the static aircrafts were okay.

I am running an old i7-3770k PC overclocked to 4.5ghz, 24gb ddr3, EVGA GTX 1070 FTW on a 34" 3440x1440 monitor at high graphic preset. Haven't really checked the FPS since it's more than smooth enough for me with any module in DCS.

Looks good. The Eng L backlight has blown on mine and I really cbf returning it for a blown LED, figured it's only a matter of time before one or more goes. The latest version will allow me to switch the backlight off completely and not be bothered by it.

Interestingly enough the same LED has stopped working on mine.

The manual says the panel light intensity can be adjusted via TARGET but I can't find that feature anywhere. Is that WIP as well?

I'm sorry but I don't consider a 5% defect rate (I know it's not actual stat, just hypothetical) to be insignificant. That's 5 dead throttles for every 100 they produce. This is a premium product, for the price we're paying it's similar to buying a sports car, not a cheap Tata or Hyundai that you run into the ground and scrap. Can you imagine 5 out of every 100 Corvette ZR1 they roll off the assembly line suffer a terminal failure after 3-6 months time?

Tough call but I think I'll bite the bullet and go ahead with the order. Someone mentioned before the problem could be caused by current spike in the USB port during power up, should I unplug the HOTAS after shutting down or is that going to do more harm than good?

Interesting. I'm running Q6600 oc'ed to 3.6ghz with 1600mhz FSB, 4gb RAM, EVGA GTX285 1gb and W7 64-bit but I'm nowhere near 50fps, most times I'm hovering around 20-35fps. Can a GTX460/580 card make that much difference with fps? Can you please do me a huge favour and list your graphic option settings and provide a .trk file for me to benchmark? Thx.

The ground may still be "hot" at night and the same applies for urban areas with lots of buildings. They soak up heat during the day and cools down to ambient temperature over time at night. Have you ever walked outside in barefeet on a summer night? ;) I'm not sure if ground radiant heat is modelled in the sim but that's the only explanation I can come up with.

I ordered the Warthog a few days ago and I'm now having second thoughts after reading all these horror stories. There seems to be a fundamental hardware problem with the throttle and I don't believe the fix / preventative measure is as simple as a firmware update, as some people have found out already. So where to go from here? Cancel the order until they address the problem or cross my fingers and hope for the best? I'm in Australia so repair could take weeks if it goes belly up.

I see no reason why you shouldn't pre-purchase and fly the beta now if you intend on getting the full game when it comes out. I had a bad experience with a pre-purchased beta for an A320 sim which I won't name so I was initially hesitant but the mostly postive feedback on this forum convinced me to take the plunge and I've no regrets whatsoever. As others have mentioned there are some bugs which needs to be resolved but there's enough in the beta to keep you occupied for a couple of months while learning the systems etc. I'm so impressed with it at the moment I'm thinking of getting a Warthog HOTAS and a pair of cougar MFD's to complete the picture :)
