The HSI is impossible to read in VR with the map overlay so I always hit the OSB twice to turn the map off. I don't find the map much helpful to be honest.

Yes, the hotfix messed up my bindings again, because I fixed it after the previous update. The rebinding is becoming second nature now so it took only a few minutes haha.

If you own a warthog don't arse about with the stock standard lift detent or assigning an AB toggle like I did. I used the toggle and it messed me up because I always forgot to toggle AB on in the heat of the moment when entering a dogfight. I used a very sharp Stanley knife (similar to a X-Acto knife or hobby knife) and shaved the detent insert corner. I worked on the RH side first, shaved a bit at a time and tested, repeated the process until the push through was just right for me. I then worked on the LH throttle until the push through force was similar to the RH. Don't shave both sides together because I found I removed different amounts of material LH and RH to get the "feel" right. And when I say shave I mean scraping the blade across the insert almost perpendicular not directly slicing into it.

Any purchased module released after Sept 2017 will be bound to your account instead of being issued a licence key. I just pulled the trigger and also received no licence key. But going to the e-shop page while logged into my account it acknowledged I have purchased it. This was the same with Hornet and Persian Gulf.

Had to rebind a few buttons and switches after the update, but it wasn't a show stopper by any means. I only have the A10 and F18 so I can appreciate the vented frustration from other users who may own a lot more modules.

I am not expecting the regular bi-weekly updates we used to get, as they are currently working on some of the deep / fundamental systems at the moment. But I am sure the next update will be pretty major.

There are a number of user made templates in the user file download section. I just referred to the real Hornet HOTAS layout and transposed them as close as possible to the Warthog, and used a bit of creativity for the extra switches on the throttle unit.

I am slightly short sighted -1.25 and I found the oculus while useable without glasses the image was not as sharp as what it could be. As imacken said the focus distance is some feet away. I have a very big head so wearing glasses and the headset was not an option. So I removed the arms on my old pair of thin frame glasses and blu tacked them inside the headset with just a few mm's between the sets of lenses. This is much more comfortable for me and I can see so much better in VR. A bit of a hack job but its fully functional and costed me next to nothing.

I upgraded from windows 7 to 10 recently and noticed gains in fps when using the rift. If you are not running W10 I would highly recommend it.

If your graphic card is connected to the motherboard and running in windows, it will render the 2D mirror no matter what you do.

Thanks for the reply USSR_Rik. I downloaded the hotfix today and so far so good after a quick run in PG.

I have looked into commercial plug and play solutions, but living in Australia far away from the rest of the world, the shipping cost is quite substantial. My home baked solution is fully functional, just not all that polished with the blu-tack holding the prescription frames in place lol.

Just out of curiosity, could you tell us what was the most likely root cause of this problem?

I am thinking a reflection / shimmer type effect for air and ground objects of interest may be a good compromise between realism and hardware / physical limitations?

I am short sighted (around -1.25) and have a large head so wearing glasses and the Oculus together was extremely difficult and uncomfortable with the glasses pressed up hard against my nose and touching the goggle lense which I didn't like. So I took my spare pair of thin framed glasses, unscrewed the arms and blu tacked the frames inside the goggles. It's not the most elegant solution but it costed me nothing and improved the visual clarity a lot :lol:

I tried my Oculus with the hornet for the first time today just for kicks, after a long hiatus with VR in general. For the past year or so I have been running DCS on a 34" Ultrawide monitor with TrackIR. I turned away from VR because I wanted the best possible graphics, and the Oculus simply cannot deliver that. But I must admit I was blown away (again) with the true sense of scale, depth and spatial awareness in VR that I simply cannot replicate with a 2D screen. Air to air combat is so immersive "pressing my face" against the glass trying to get a good look for the bandit and really cranking my head and body to maintain visual. And the sense that you are really in the virtual world.... I think I have found renewed love for simming in VR again!

I thought that was the premise of the OB and stable. If the OB is causing CTD for a large number of users it will not go to stable until it is sorted in OB. I also thought the stable build implied just that, and not necessarily bug free.

I hate wearing a cap especially in summer so I have the hat clip zip-tied to the top of my headphones. Looks a bit funny but works well :lol:

Current stable build works fine in the scope of this discussion. I tried it yesterday after having problems with the beta version.

Just update the beta and sure enough....no go in PG or Nevada lol.

Hmmm okay thanks. I might take the plunge and update the beta. Guess the worst that can happen is that it becomes unusable and I have to resign to the stable build until the beta is fixed.

Is this a 100% failure rate within the community? Anyone running the latest update with hornet in PG / Nevada without any problems?
