  1. I've been away for several months as life's been keepy me busy but yesterday I fired up A-10C and created a quick and simple mission. To make sure all AI's behave like intended I parked a single A-10 on the ramp, started the mission and, once the mission was running, I hit F10 to get to the mission map (hoping to see the AI war unfold) but nothing happened! I then tried all the other F-keys but nothing happens, whatsoever. Also, if I hit ESC and then click "Change Controls" (not sure that's the exact wording) from the dialog nothing appears (no edit controls dialog appears). Also, having done that ESC no longer seems to be working. I had to Alt-Tab out of the sim to kill the process, just to end the mission. I have double checked the key bindings from the main menu options and F10 is indeed set to the campaign map. I have also made sure realism allows me to see AI on the map but unless the map appears there's not much point I guess. I realize I might be missing something very basic that I've forgotten about. Can anyone give some hints? Thanks
  2. Adding the "Tanker" enroute task made the tanker available in the comms menu. Then I coulnd't get a reply but that was due to having set the tanker's frequency to the "FM" band. What's the difference? When do I use AM vs. FM?
  3. Correct. I've tried all of them but the comms menu looks exactly the same regardless. I get "Wingman", "Flight", "ATC" etc. wether I use VHF1, VHF2, UHF or "\". I find that a bit strange as I was expecting to see only receivers tuned in to the chosen radio but apparently I haven't understood how the radios are simulated.
  4. Aces, I'm sure this question has been asked several times by now but I haven't really found an answer anywhere that explains how to work the different radios. My situation is I'm trying to learn air refuelling. I've set up a mission with a KC-135 flying a racetrack pattern out to sea as 7000 feet. I've added two "commands" for it: One to activate TACAN at 46X and another to set its frequency to 150MHz. As I spawn and open the comms menu there's no option for tanker. I've also tried the three different "transmiit" options (VHF1, VHF2 and UHF). I have entered the frequency into VHF AM Radio 1 and set its freq. selection dial to "MAN". But no matter how I try I never get any "Tanker" option in the comms menu. I see a big facepalm in my near future and would appreciate any hints. Thanks
  5. I have an old and trusty Saitek X52. As I needed to use the "clutch" to extend funtionality I decided not to map the joystick buttons directly into DCS but rather create an SST profile with key macros. The problem is DCS doesn't "see" the keys being emitted by the stick. I have mad sure the stick is correctly profiled using both the SST "test" tool and a small app I pieced together to monitor the keyboard. But as I open DCS/Options and test something like "start left engine" (RAlt+Home) nothing happens. It's like the sim cannot see keys being generated by the flight stick. But if I manually hit the same keys on the keyboard they show up in the options UI as expected. I'm currently out of clues so any hints would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I might be alone in liking the rendering of the not-so-perfect canopy in previous DCS titles but I miss the little scratches in the A-10C canopy. Is there a way to enable this effect again or do I put it on the whishlist? Cheers
  7. How does one turn crossfeed on/off? I assumed it's on by default since I've never needed to bother?
  8. This is the text from the manual (p. 311-312) on how to designate a TP using the Shkval: Note that in step 2 it instructs us to set the PVI to the "Enter" position. Is that a typo? I assume it should've been "Edit" position. Just pressing the "Enter" button doesn't do anything at that stage.
  9. I did and you can see in my description above how I interpreted the manual. Obviously I did misunderstand some part but I can't figure out which one. That's why I came to the forums ... :helpsmilie: Cheers
  10. I can't get this to work so I'm probably misunderstanding something. This is what I do and what happens: 1. Puts laser into stand by mode 2. Puts PVI into "EDIT" mode. 3. I set the "NAV/INU fix taking method" to Shkval (it's there by default) 4. I hit the "NAV TGT" button on the PVI panel 5. I press the number for my new TP (example: "2") 6. I press "O" to uncage the Shkval. = Nothing happens (it can't be uncaged while in PVI Edit mode it seems) I start over, this time with the Shkval uncaged before setting PVI into EDIT mode. 6. I slew the Shkval to the spot I wanna have as TP and then designates it twice (according to manual). =Nothing happens 7. Press "Targeting mode reset" (BACKSPACE) to cage the Shkval =Nothing happens 8. Press ENTER on PVI panel =Nothing happens What am I doing wrong? Cheers
  11. I had this problem too. In the TrackIR application I tried the "Update" --> "Check for game updates" and that did the trick. Good luck
  12. Yes, but all systeme where running. I usually set up the 'copter from the cold n' dark configuration to make sure it gets configured according to the task. I do realize the NVG needs power and when I tried to turn it on batteries where on, engines where running (at idle) and generators where engaged. I flipped the helmet mounted system on and off several times (toggled the 'H' key) with no effect. Then I just gave up, leaving it in the ON setting and increased RPM to AUTOMATIC for take off. That made the NVG come alive automatically. Now I just need to figure out how to increase the NVG effect. Right now it's very dim and make little or no difference to not using it at all.
  13. I must be daft or something. I select NVG from the maintenance menu (although that shouldn't be necessary) and then press 'h' but nothing happens. What have I missed? [EDIT] Seems I missed to turn up the RPM. I was sitting on the ramp with all systems running and RPM at idle. When I turned RPM up to auto NVG came alive. I didn't see that relation anywhere in the manual but I have to admit not having read it all yet. I must say, though, other than the world becomes somewhat "greener" with NVG active I can't really see much in the dark. Is there some way to increase the NVG effect?
  14. Can I just ask a somewhat OT thingy before I leave this thread? You say I can't use Notepad to edit .lua files but I did that without problems (I didn't have an alternative). Does the "Notepad-no-go" apply to XP only (I run Vista) or was I just lucky? Cheers
  15. Cheers
  16. Pilots, I've seen some videos (YouTube, mainly) and in some of the tracks provided with the game, where you can see your virtual body (arms and legs) from within the virtual cockpit. I looked in options but I can't find anything that seems to be related to this effect. Does anyone know how to turn that feature on? Cheers
  17. Ok, the full screen thingy solved my problems. I also needed to adjust the "Camera+Shkval+Abris1024.lua" to reflect the alignment of the small monitor (it's aligned at the bottom of the "desktop"). Cheers mate! :O) /Jonas
  18. I tried that setup but the sim still CTD's. I believe it's the "options.lua" causing the CDS because I tried going back to the "1camera" setup while retaining settings in "options.lua" but the sim still crashes. Here's the complete [graphics] secion in "options.lua"... ["graphics"] = { ["multiMonitorSetup"] = "1camera", ["color"] = "32", ["heatBlr"] = 1, ["scenes"] = "high", ["water"] = 3, ["fullScreen"] = true, ["visibRange"] = "High", ["aspect"] = 3.73, ["textures"] = 2, ["shadows"] = 3, ["display_mode"] = { ["avi"] = { ["bpp"] = 32, ["resolution"] = "640x480", ["full_screen"] = false, ["aspect"] = 1.333333333, ["height"] = 480, ["width"] = 640, }, -- end of ["avi"] }, -- end of ["display_mode"] ["effects"] = 3, ["lights"] = 2, ["haze"] = 1, ["terrPrld"] = "20", ["height"] = 1200, ["resolution"] = "1920x1200", ["civTraffic"] = 1, ["width"] = 4480, }, -- end of ["graphics"]
  19. Hmm... I just can't figure this out. I think I've tried most combinations now and all I get is Black Shark CTD'ing. To summarize: I have two monitors, the primary is a widescreen 1920x1200 and the secondary is 1280x1024. The secondary monitor sits (physically and in Windows setup) to the left of the primary which is non-standard. I edited the options.lua like this: ["graphics"] = { ... <clip> ... ["fullScreen"] = true, ["width"] = 4480, ["height"] = 1200, ["aspect"] = 3.73, ... <clip> ... } I then tried editing the Camera+Shkval+Abris1024.lua like this: Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1200; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.6; } } Shkval = { x = 1920; y = 0; width = 1280/2; height = 1024/2; } ABRIS = { x = 2560; y = 0; width = 1280/2; height = 1024/2; } The above configuration causes the sim to crash while loading a mission. Just to make sure, considering the primary screen is to the right of the secondary, I also tried the following (using negative coordinates for the views on the secondary monitor): Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1200; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.6; } } Shkval = { x = -1280; y = 0; width = 1280/2; height = 1024/2; } ABRIS = { x = -640; y = 0; width = 1280/2; height = 1024/2; } This also CTD's the sim. What have I done wrong? /Jonas
  20. Yes, but are you running it in Vista x64?
  21. Ok, I copied those .lua files to the "MonitorSetup" folder and went ahead and selected "Camera+Shkval1024" but the two views still show up on the primary monitor. Could it have something to do with my resolution? My primary monitor resolution is 1920x1200 and the secondary monitor resolution is 1280x1024. /Jonas
  22. Thanks alot Freeman! :O) /Jonas
  23. Well, I'll start looking around the CCC then. Thanks /Jonas
  24. Um... How do I achieve that? Assuming it's a video card or Windows configuration I do realize it's hardly your task instructing me this but I'd appreciate a point in the right direction if it's ok. Thanks /Jonas
  25. Maybe I have misunderstood how the multi-monitor feature is supposed to work but.... I have a dual monitor setup with one 23" Widescreen TFT (Dell), the primary, and one 19" TFT (BenQ). When I set "Shkval+Camera" both views shows up on the primary monitor (the 23" Widescreen). The left image doesn't show anything that resembles the Shkval screen and the right image (the cockpit) is very skewed to fit the very narrow view. I had expected the Shkval screen to be presented on the secondary monitor (the 19") while the cockpit remained on the primary monitor (the 23" widescreen). Have I misunderstood the feature or do I need to set things up differently. I run in full screen mode by the way. /Jonas
