  1. Silly me. I had unbound the PTT buttons as I was using VAICOM PRO up until 2.5.6 (that broke it) forgot to rebind. Thanks
  2. Sometimes, typically a few minutes after T/O, pressing the COMMS menu key have no effect. No menu appearns and, so, radio comms in offlne mode is unavailable. [EDIT] Just finished a flight and as I parked I could suddenly open the COMMS menu again.
  3. Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this kind of question but I couldn't find any other that obviously dealt with the development side of the sim. I'm developer and I have a few ideas I would like to investigate but I find it very difficult to find proper info that's useful to a developer on how to get started with creating modules and do integration with the sim. Is there a forum for this or do I need to contact ED directly and, maybe, sign an agreement before they hand out these kind of documentation? Cheers, Mog
  4. Thanks.
  5. Sorry for asking. I *think* I know what you mean but can you just briefly explain cranking and beaming?
  6. Hm. I was hoping to increase closure speed to get into firing range faster but I'll try your proposed tactic. Thanks!
  7. Sounds like good advice. I was thinking maybe swarming the bandits with Sparrows at medium range just to try and keep the bad guys busy dodging my missiles while me and the AI dudes/dudettes move in. The problem is I have no way to convey such a plan to my silicon-based colleagues. There's plenty of areas for improvement left in the AI deparment ...
  8. SPOILER ALERT! Details about the F-18 Caucasus campaign! Finally feel confident enough in the Hornet to run through the Caucasus F-18 campaign but I'm having trouble getting past the fighter sweep mission (I think it's mission four). What happens is when I continue east, after the first furball at the coast, I engage a four-ship of Mig-25s but I find it extremely difficult to get in close enough for the Sparrows to be useful. The Migs fire their R40s and I can dodge some of them but not all it seems. What's good tactics for closing in with bandits that have better range? Any tips would be appreciated
  9. Yup! That was probably it. Thanks!
  10. As of today, when I select the FLIR DDI it immediately goes to max zoom (9) and I cannot zoom out. I have looked through keybindings, suspecting I might have accidentilly bound something to that function but AFAIKS there's not even a key-bind for the FLIR Zoom function. Any hints would be appreciated because this drives me nuts!
  11. [uPDATE] Never mind. Figured it out (needed to add the "Thrustmaster Virtual Game Controller" as a second joystick in VA) ----------------------- I have a really strange problem. I have scripted my TMWH HOTAS to customize it for the F/A-18C, using Thrustmaster's "T.A.R.G.E.T" software. I did this some weeks ago and it's been working just fine. In the script TX1 ("MSR") isn't bound to anything and it's been working great with VAICOM PRO all the time. I launched DCS today for the first time in a week and suddenly PTT no longer works! Should I bind MSR (TX1) and MSD () TX2 to DX buttons after all? If so; which ones?
  12. Hi all, Been looking at Gametrix Jetseat and also Realteus Forcefeel. I am mostly concerned with having G-forces feedback as I think that could improve my handling quite a lot. I do realize the feedback is nowhere near what it's really like but having some feedback would probably teach my brain how hard I'm pulling without having to check the HUD all the time. Realteus claims to have G-force feedback but I see alot of warnings for this product from people complaining they've ordered but never received. But I can't seem to find much evidence Gametrix Jetseat does support G-force feedback for DCS. Can anyone enlighten me? Cheers!
  13. As one who fly mostly SP (I just don't have the time to commit to a squadron) but that loves flying procedures I agree enforcing them should be something you can opt for in the mission editor/settings.
  14. I was watching these (very good) videos by "Lex" - a retired IRL Hornet driver, on CASE I recovery. In the first episode he mentions that landing weight should never exceed 33,000lbs, and also adds that it doesn't take much in terms of ordnance, pods and external fuel, to become heavy for landing. He also went on to explain how to dump fuel in order to reach that limit. So, I put together a training mission for myself. Mission is ship identification/patrol at night in IMC (low cloud cover, rain and very strong winds). Loadout is just self defence (2xAIM-120C + 2xAIM-9X) and two external tanks. As I completed the mission part and started the inbound to Mother I checked the weight, which was at 42,000lbs so I put myself in orbit to relax a bit and dump fuel before heading back to the boat. As it turned out I had about 2000lbs left which is definitely "low state", at the level where it's time to ask for priority! I can only imagine coming back from a long interdiction with remaining ordnance under my wings! So, my question is: How do you deal with this in RL? Do you dump the extra tanks and/or remaining ordnance, at sea (sounds very costly)? Do you accept a heavy bird or do you accept the low state (very risky)? Or is weight not correctly modeled?
  15. Thank you! Not only does your suggestion work great (I went with the second option). You also made me understand how it works. Exactly what I was looking for. These forums are a refreshing reminder of what the internet should be: A friendly place where people exchange ideas, find inspiration and have a good time. Again: thank you!
  16. That mission works fine. But I would like to control when the fight is ON, using a zone and trigger (flag). I removed the left-over ground NTTR targets that require the mod. Do you mind having a sscond look at the mission file? I would really like to understand how to work with triggers and do more in-depth stuff with the mission editor if possible. Thanks! FA-18 - training - nevada - AA.miz
  17. You are correct. The F5 does go after the AWACS. I experimented with removing the CAP mission but that seems to just transform the F5 to a mindless zombie, with no purpose at all. Seems my trigger (FLAG 1) isn't actually doing what I hope it would do.
  18. I attached the mission.
  19. I've been training to learn the F/A-18C for a few months (very intermittently, so slow progress) up to a point where I decided to try out the F/A-18C Agressor campaign from Maple Leaf. I very quickly realized my old dogfighting skills where just that: very old. I suck, to put it plainly. So, I put together a quick mission for dogfighting training but for some reason my adversary (an F-5E3) won't engage. I set it up so that the F5 gets activated for a CAP mission some 15 miles to my east as I enter a trigger zone. He's then heading west towards me (for WP1) where he's supposd to "Search then engage unit (me)". The triggering works fine and he's popping up on my radar as expected but then immediately turns to the east, picking up speed. The F-5 is armed with guns only, just like me. So, question 1is: Why is the F-5 displaying this craven behavior? Have I missed something? I tried checking out the seconds mission in the F/A-18C Aggressor Campaign (Maple Leaf) and it appears to be done more or less the same way. But for some reason I can't see any trigger logics in that mission. And that's my seconds question: Is the Maple Leaf campaign missions somehow protected (to avoid IP theft perhaps) preventing curious guys like me from peeping? :-) I would love to learn some more advanced mission building stuff, and I assume I need some LUA skills for that, but I have no idea even where to begin. The DCS World manual seems pretty vanilla in this regard.
  20. Just started to learn T.A.R.G.E.T scripting (TM Warthog) but I have a few questions for anyone with more experience: 1. When I "Run" the script and the devicers gets unplugged and then re-plugged, along with the virtual device, the flight stick often gets disconnected. Stopping the script doesn't help but physically unplugging/plugging the stick helps (but stops the scipt). I have this included in my script, for axis mapping: MapAxis(&Joystick, JOYX, DX_X_AXIS); MapAxis(&Joystick, JOYY, DX_Y_AXIS); MapAxis(&Throttle, THR_LEFT, DX_ZROT_AXIS); MapAxis(&Throttle, THR_RIGHT, DX_Z_AXIS); 2. I understand how to generate keyboard events from HOTAS events but is there a way to do the opposite? I.e. can I trigger HOTAS events (such as changing the LED backlight intensity) using my keyboard? 3. I would like to use short / long press för the DMS switch so that long presses = sensor select and short press for FLIR Point/Area track etc. I can't find any keys for Point/Area track though. Can that be done? Cheers, Mog
  21. Slave LANTIRN to WP? Is there a way to slave the LANTIRN to the active steerpoint or is that still in the works?
  22. I suspected as much. No point spending more time trying to get my head around that then. Thanks! But it does strike me as a bit strange that there shouldn’t be a way to set up multiple TOO targets by other means than punching the coordinates with the UFC, in the IRL system.
  23. I've read the manual and watched two different tutorials ... and .... but I am unable to designate different TOO targets to different stations. The JDAM MSN page does not behave like in those vids, where the process is to select a station, goto TOO, designate (with LANTIRN), press PPD, STEP, TOO, designate a new target, then PPD, STEP, TOO and so on. No matter how I try it all stations seems to be on the same PPD. Has stuff changed since those clips where recorded or am I missing something?
  24. I think one of my kids might have had a close encounter with my WH throttle, which I keep attached with clamps, and broke the pinky switch on the throttle. Can someone advice me on how to fix it? Can I order a new one and easily replace it myself or how would I solve this? Thanks!
