I''m pretty sure you are correct. Like I said a looong time ago. They are more near a RC version if they are close to releasing the game.

Cool. But this is all we have so it is all we can comment on. The MFD is always the first to go for me. Usually during a gun or bombing run. So yeah the front gets hit. But when I look at the damage usually just a couple bullet holes on the side. The tires being blown were after. My wingman and I did a lot of down and dirty destruction on this mission. Lost both MFD's pretty much everything on the hud. Managed to land it. I admit the actual damage on the aircraft and the modeling is outstanding and beyond anything out there. I just think that your entire MFD wouldn't be blank if the system gets knocked out, maybe popping in and out. I mean the wire for power would have to be knocked out completely. I'm sure some of the actual conduit is hardened..

Asked if we'd see a beta soon in the next couple days and thread locked immediately and pointed here. So I guess that is a no. I guess i"ll continue my ARMA II adventure in the meantime.. ugh..
-
Also here's a little visual evidence.. The MFD's going out with small arms fire first.. some proof for ya.. I don't have a screen of the outside but it was just a couple bullet holes.
-
Actually managed to touch down with 3 stubs basically.. Of course I also have a screen shot again proving that the MFD's go out first every time you get hit. Basically only one thing on the caution panel and one "clunk" from a tank's gun fire and right MFD gone. I'm getting tired of losing mfd's FIRST with even just one little hit EVERY TIME.

Those of you Using TrackIR and Headphones
Lonecrow66 replied to Lonecrow66's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hmm a little too complex for me. Are there actually ANY sims out there that'll do this? Voice comms through headset and engines / exterior sounds on the external speakers? I want my den to rumble like a MOFO but I don't want the voices loud. When I fire the guns I want my beer to start to foam up... -
Do you know of a way to set it up so that only the voice comms will go through the headphones but all other sounds are in your external speakers? I have the standard realtek HD audio. But my headphones are USB. So technically I have two separate audio outputs. The headphones MIcrosoft Lifechat headset and the Realtek HD audio with speakers. Do you know if they have some sort of option maybe in an config file or somewhere to separate audio from radio ops -> source 1 and all other sounds - source 2 Any thoughts?

Officially - Will A10 be Compatible with BS?
Lonecrow66 replied to Lonecrow66's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yeah its almost impossible to make money on sims .. there is such a small market for it. That is why many of us are willing to pay a little extra and wait a little longer and be a little more patient than most. -

I really want a longbow apache... pop up .. paint the targets, pop back down.. ripple off 6 mavericks.. Boom. Well at least thats what it was like in Janes Longbow :) Dunno how much fun BS is though. Could be fun if you had air support as well with the A10.. -
Waiting on the beta? From back then? I think we can officially invoke the V word. Vaporware..

Yeah but I'd like an update.. as would others... :) -
Inquiring minds want to know. So like if we are in a semi-persistant online sandbox theatre going on, you could hypothetically go online as an A10 or with your BS? It wouldn't be a fair fight I mean the black shark would be focused on armor and the A10 would just be few k up .. lock em up and shoot em down. Death from above. They said later on they may release a compatibility patch etc. But still is it official they will support it or not? I'm curious because I want to buy black shark while we wait for A10 so I have both if I choose I can fly online with either side.. it would be fun. If it isn't then I might as well just keep flying A10 for now.

I have to sort of agree. As much time and effort that was spent on the actual simulation aspect of the product, I don't get a sense of satisfaction with the actual ordinance contacting objects. Call me spoiled but some other games out there has gotten us used to at least seeing maybe a tank's top half fly up into the ground, twisted metal flying. Buildings half broken. The whole crater effect is nice. The rising smoke is nice. But the actual destruction is not very satisfying. In real life there were always secondaries as well, and fires. Other than the avionics, and performance the last thing they need to improve before release would be the actual damage modeling of targets. Its like making a beautiful cake and then putting a piece of shit on the top.. Kinda ruins the experience. Then work on dynamic campaigns :) :) :) I would pay $100 for a sim that had all of that with cutting edge graphics and ran well.

They haven't even talked release candidate yet.. so yeah they are behind.

Harrier could pull some insane maneuvers with its vectored thrust.. Burned fuel like a mofo though. This was one of my all time fav sims.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AV-8B_Harrier_Assault You just don't get sims that allow this sorta control over the battle these days The game is set in a fictional conflict between US forces and the Indonesian army occupying East Timor. A battlegroup lead by USS Tarawa is diverted from a navy exercise along with its escorts and is ordered to aid the Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) Marine units engage the Indonesian forces and occupy the island. The carrier group is equipped with a squadron of 16 AV-8B Harrier II jets, a number of CH-46 Sea Knight and CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters stationed on Tarawa and the escort vessels and a brigade of AAV-7A1 Amphibious Assault Vehicles, tanks and support vehicles aiding the marines and the special forces units. The game is a cross between a real time strategy game and a flight simulator. Players can literally completely ignore one of the elements and either play a pure real-time strategy game controlling the forces as the battle plan progresses, or alternatively participate only in combat, flying the AV-8B Harrier missions. In practice however, tweaking the battle plan is essential as enemy re-enforcements or lost ground battles can affect the plan as a whole. Similarly, flying some missions is essential, e.g. intercepting C-130 planes carrying enemy reinforcements, something that the game's AI cannot handle properly. Otherwise, enemy forces may overwhelm their target and re-establish control of strategic locations. USS Tarawa command center The game starts in the Tarawa command center where a battle plan can be designed on the area maps. Player are given the choice of creating their own battle plans or loading the Ocean Sabre plan in the Tactical Amphibious Warfare Data System (TAWADS), containing navy/army deployments and operations spanning a five day period. The battle plan contains every movement of the navy, army and aerial unit planned for every stage of the operation and it needs to take into account all expected enemy strength at various points in the operation area (cities, villages, airports, fuel dumps, etc.). When the battle plan initiates the first combat flying mission becomes available, where the player can attack a number of targets on the island. As the game progresses new missions become available, ranging from bombing enemy bases and vehicles, reconnaissance, air superiority, interception and close air support of friendly units. The game ends when all enemy forces are destroyed and all strategic locations are occupied by friendly forces.

They had access to a gun pod. Also the MIG 19 and 21 would be fun. Add about 4 detailed modelled at the quality of A10 and it would be fun.. Thuds and napalm!
-
Harrier still would be cool if in tandem you are working with the cobra. Cobra down and dirt, and the harrier up high.. I'm sure in a time of war it would get more use than one bomb.. Maybe F18 might be due for another shot.. Personally I think the market is DYING for a really good Vietnam sim. The F4... Remember Chuck Yeager's sim? That was awesome..
-
Please god.. make it some sort of carrier ops.. like with a Harrier and the super Cobra.. we could invade small countries..
-
I'd hazard a guess it'll be the F15 - it would be fun because of its multirole capabilities. Or the F16.. My wet dream would be a harrier.. a Marine ops sort of sim with lcacs and super cobras.. ohhhhhhhh...
