They encountered a few new bugs that will push it back to March.. Sorry guys. Ok just kidding I think it will be released Wed. They are just wrapping up everything into a nice bundle.
-
I'd really like to see North/South Korea.. I mean its realistically the only real powderkeg ready to go off that would be interesting to simulate. Although its been done in F4 with this sim it would be incredible..

Why bother? Not much armor to shoot at there anymore.. :)

I was in some online server (under 100ms ping too!) which was my first online try at this, and it had a couple weapons ranges on it. People could just join in at their leisure and practice .. plenty of targets around all over. Anyone know where I can get a copy of that mission? No idea who it was. It went down after a while. Also - is there any real voice comms in this game? Or do you need to load up ventrilo or something like that? I know to communicate to other ships you need to set the correct channel, but is there an actual mic button and in game voice communication? I never got far enough to find out.

I'm sure if there is an explosion behind you.. that you'd hear it. I don't care if they don't hear it.. I want to hear it. This is a simulator yes but also we don't have the luxury of peripheral vision and hearing as well as real life. Some things in the game need to be exaggerated a little bit to help compensate for the lack of senses. I'm sure if a SAM blows up behind you.. you'd feel the vibrations and the shrapnel and hear something enough to know something was damn close!! So far this sim doesn't give you that feeling yet.. :) I so stress yet.

Isn't there a way to sit back and still zoom in without moving your head? I'm getting my trackir5 tomorrow hopefully :)

I've flown the night mission when it was snowing and it is fantastically realistic. But at times when you fly through it, it does seem like it is flying through some polygons, or clipping planes I shouldnt be seeing. It sort of blanks out your vision and then you can see the line of the wall of nothingness .. hard to explain. I guess I could try and grab a screen shot but it happens over and over fast and random.

Actually I didn't see this video, I'm going to watch it when I go home.. hard to get away with watching it at work :)

Thanks but I seem to remember there was more to it!! I think I saw that video as well. There was something he did up on the up front CDU panel.. I think maybe it is because I didnt get my CDU to Steerpoint. I get the two dials confused as to their purpose.
-
I saw a video of someone manually inputting UTC coordinates into the CDU and somehow making that a waypoint. But it was so zoomed back I couldn't see exactly how to do it. I've looked through the manual without any luck ( will read further) trying to find specific step by step instructions on how to take coords from a JTAC, turn it into a waypoint, a steerpoint and a SPI to slew my TGP to. I did a night mission (Operation pushback) in the snow which was absolutely fantastic trying to fly IFR rules entirely. The JTAC didn't upload the data to my TAD (No red triangle) So I was wondering how I could actually find the coordinates. So I was flying completely blind really.. Can someone type out exactly what to do? I know this much so far. 1) The left dial on the CDU you set to MARK 2) Type in the coordinates 3) Select UTM on the bottom right 4) ?? Please help .. we need a good documented explanation of how to do this. I saw something up on the up front CDU controls but couldn't make it out nor duplicate it.

Flight Qualifications Campaign
Lonecrow66 replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
Excellent idea.. just make it easy enough most of us can pass it without being complete nerds.. -
I hope they release another patch.. I'm finally getting the hang of some things and running some full campaign missions and they keep crashing on me out of the blue. I realized something as I was hugging the ground under dense cloud cover seeing the hillsides fly past... We need sheep. Or at least a few cows or something.. :) Something to pass the time during the longer distance runs.. :) Do they even have sheep in Georgia? :) Just kidding.. Im soo enjoying this simulator. I can't wait to see it when it is done! In the meantime I'm getting tired of reloading over and over..
-
I bought lock on to pass the time. Now I think i'm going to have to get black shark.. Naw.. I keep playing beta 4 .. I can't pull myself away. I love the fact that I probably will never learn all the systems or master them even if I play casually for 6 months. Always something to learn. I just like navigation with different modes.. and I want bad weather and all that just flying with real systems makes it fun.
-
I don't know.. but until we have it in our hands (or on our hard drives) we can't really discuss it.. :)

Yeah its all shale which is really hard to extract cheaply.. otherwise you'd be pumping.. Screw oil we need to work on alternative techs. I personally think its already been discovered many times just the oil cartels usually whack the people who invent them.

X52 mapping zoom to a slider
Lonecrow66 replied to rss0900's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I did the same thing and it flickers up and down real bad. Tried it for some of the others too. Wonder if there is a way to adjust the sensitivity. How did you guys get the mouse roller to work as the zoom? That would be handy. I couldn't get it to recognize the mouse wheel.. -
Can you link to this change log?
-
Haven't found that yet. More to the manual I guess.. :)
-
Yeah I've been having a hard time wrapping my head around using the targetting pod and merging functions for ccrp, laser etc. The tutorials are not quite there. Plus my X52 config can't cover all the hat features because I need a POV hat. So I'm missing a few things and have a hard time remembering which keys.. so while you are trying to line up stuff you have seconds when you are closing on your target. Can't fly too high or you'll get engaged by caps..
-
Yeah but the flight plans of many of the missions call for like 1200ft. Can't strafe from 10000 ft or use rockets either.. I'm just saying they are pretty deadly accurate. I have been missed a few times by AAA but those bmp's are deadly.

Gulf War friendly fire incident During the Gulf War, the HARM was involved in a friendly fire incident when the pilot of an F-4G Wild Weasel escorting a B-52 mistook the latter's tail gun radar for an Iraqi AAA site. (This was after the tail gunner of the B-52 had targeted the F-4G, mistaking it for an Iraqi MiG). The pilot launched the missile and then saw that the target was the B-52, which was hit. It survived with shrapnel damage to the tail. The B-52 was subsequently renamed "In HARM’s Way".[5]

thinking of buying 32" 1080p t.v
Lonecrow66 replied to con3para's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
52" Toshiba.. and yes it is nice.. -
I dont know how you guys see anything. I can't get close enough to see anything, they usually shoot me down instantly.. especially the bmp's. I also employ countermeasures and jinking to avoid them but always get hit and always lose my right mfd... makes me angry. Anything I see with a maverick is a dot anyway.. you can't zoom maverick optics right?
