  1. 12 September 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, In preparation for the launch of the upcoming DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum, we are pleased to bring you the next chapter in Matt “Wags” Wagner’s tutorial series: the MiG-29A Navigation and Landing. Enjoy! A new DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer campaign by Stone Sky is coming! You’ll be transported back to 2017’s most volatile airspace with the DCS: A-10C II OUTPOST Part III campaign that has you flying as part of the 74th and 163rd Fighter Squadrons. Set against the broader US/Russia great-power standoff in Syria, this chapter blends historical context with engaging gameplay and depth based on the Syria map. Execute demanding sorties with scalable difficulty and guidance. Another campaign planned for the next update is Operation Iron Tide by Sandman Simulations, which takes place following a devastating attack on the USS John C. Stennis in the year 2000. This campaign also takes place on the Syria map. With strict rules of engagement and a United Nations mandate, you will plan and lead the air component of a multinational response. Fly the DCS: F-14B Tomcat or DCS: F/A-18C, make the hard calls, and shape the battles. Stay tuned for the update to get your hands on these new campaigns! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics MiG-29A Fulcrum Navigation and Landing Our newest DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum tutorial video focuses on navigation and landing. After a review of the navigation panel and setting up a Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC) navigation program, you’ll learn how to create navigation points that can be assigned as waypoints or aerodromes , in addition to setting up radio navigation (RSBN) beacons. The video also shows off the addition of new Mission Editor landing aid units like the RSBN unit and the PRMG localizer and glideslope units that can be placed on any map and any airfield for navigation and instrument landings. In addition to setting up navigation programs and how to fly an instrument approach, the video also discusses how to create an inertial navigation, in-flight, alignment fix, and how to perform a visual flight rules overhead break landing. Watch the MiG-29A Navigation and Landing video. A-10C II Outpost Campaign by Stone Sky Stone Sky’s DCS: A-10C II OUTPOST Part III campaign chronicles the Syrian War at a pivotal moment: June 2017. The SDF, backed by CJTF-OIR airpower, advanced on the outskirts of Raqqa while Syria became a strategic outpost for both the United States and Russia. You’ll fly as a USAF pilot of the 74th and 163rd Fighter Squadrons, tasked to fight in a complex, shifting battlespace where intelligence gaps, weather, and a rapidly evolving ground situation force you to rethink the OODA cycle in real time. Missions span CAS, CSAR, and PPS, plus special assignments that test everything from fundamentals to multi-ship coordination. The campaign comprises eight large-scale missions, each broken into 60–70 minute segments for tight pacing and steady progression. Expect sudden weather shifts, ground and in-flight emergencies, and richly-voiced radio traffic (more than 1,700 lines) that bring the theater to life. You’ll launch from Incirlik, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa in Turkey, King Hussein Air Base in Jordan, and H-4 in Iraq with detailed briefings, mission histories, and background context to ground every sortie. Pilots of DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer will find unique 163rd FS liveries, among others, and the entire experience remains VR-friendly with simple control prompts via spacebar or a mapped button. With 200+ pages of documentation and kneeboard material, OUTPOST Part III is built for seasoned Hawg pilots seeking authenticity and mission variety, while still welcoming newer pilots through adjustable difficulty and clear mission guidance. F/A-18C & F-14B Iron Tide Campaign by Sandman Simulations In Operation Iron Tide, you are not just another pilot; you are the architect of the air war. Following an attack in Haifa, and a wider surge in regional terrorism, the United Nations Security Council authorizes a coalition to dismantle Hezbollah’s operational capability. Collateral damage is unacceptable. Every target you pick and your weaponeering must honor strict rules of engagement while achieving decisive effects on target. You will plan and command a large air component that includes four squadrons of DCS: F-14B Tomcats and six squadrons of DCS: F/A-18Cs. Two carrier strike groups provide sea-based power, while two Marine Corps F/A-18C squadrons operate from airbases. At your discretion, you may step into any cockpit and lead from the cockpit of a Tomcat or F/A-18C. Mission planning is the heart of the experience. Choose from a wide set of taskings that include air superiority, escort, fleet defense, suppression of enemy air defenses, close air support, and strike. Build packages that balance risk and effect. Your tactical choices and strategic sequencing will directly shape the number of missions you fly and the arc of the campaign. Each mission is bookended by detailed briefings and debriefings. You will have 150 pages of tutorials, charts, and briefing material at your disposal for mission planning. The campaign spans roughly ten to forty missions, based on your performance and choices. It features quality voice-overs that bring radio traffic to life. If you want a campaign that includes command-level choices that carry campaign consequences, Iron Tide is for you. Please stay tuned for these new campaigns in the next update! Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,

South Atlantic Development Report An update to the DCS: South Atlantic map is in development and planned for inclusion in an upcoming DCS update. Every airfield is receiving an optimization pass to lower video memory usage. Texture fidelity is being improved significantly, with airfield textures quadrupling and building materials doubling. Vegetation across the map will now use a new distribution algorithm for denser and more natural coverage. Snow distribution and tiling issues are also being corrected. Normal maps are getting upgraded and integrated across the Argentina and Chile landmass to improve surface relief and lighting response. Airfield lighting and visual systems will receive a complete refresh. All lighting will use new tech, and airfield lighting will react to takeoffs and landings. Ushuaia PAPI lights are getting properly leveled too. Specter Studios is adding animated airfield radar units where appropriate and replacing all wind turbines with map specific animated models, as well introducing a variety of new airfield objects. A large set of airfields and points of interest are being revamped, including: Port Stanley, Ushuaia, Ushuaia Helo Port, Mount Pleasant, Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, Mare Harbour, Rio Gallegos, Rio Grande, Provenir, Franco Bianco, O Higgins, Almirante Schroeders, San Julian, Comandante Luis Piedrabuena, and Pampa Guanaco. Mission planning quality of life is also being improved. The F10 map will show country borders and helicopter locations along with additional visual refinements. The Mission Editor default date is now the 1st of October, 2024 so summer textures are selected by default for new missions. Once this update is released the map will be feature complete and exit early access. However, improvements and bug fixes will continue. We are inviting you to take part in Nevada Test and Training missions; please contact Command via the official Red Flag EU Discord. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Iraq Development Progress We are adding several new airfields to the Iraq North region and making a series of terrain and existing airfield refinements to the DCS: Iraq map. Clipmap adjustments are complete, and ground object settings have been normalized so that all non destructible models are now correctly flagged. This ensures consistent behaviour across the map as we move into the next round of art and performance passes. Please check out the development screenshots and stay tuned for the update coming soon. A key focus of this Iraq North update will be the addition of the H-2, H-3 Main, H-3 Northwest, and H-3 Southwest airfields in western Iraq. These served as critical Iraqi airbases during both Gulf Wars and as the focus on numerous offensive counter air, suppression of air defenses, SCUD-Hunt, and fighter sweep missions. To the north at Mosul, the Mosul Airfield has been added, as well as the surrounding area being improved. The southern portion of this region will see the addition of Al Kut airfield that also saw extensive action during the Gulf Wars and the earlier Iran-Iraq War. Several unique points of interest are also being added; the Kirkuk and Al-Shaab Stadiums, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Grand Festival Square, Mar Mattai Monastery, Baghdad and Babylon palaces, and more. This is in addition to improvements to the existing airfields such as better hangars, control towers, and terminals. Following the release of the Iraq North update (similar to the recent Afghanistan Map update), the full-attention of the Iraq map team will focus on the southern region to include all or portions of southern Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar. Much of this work has already started, along with the addition of several Iranian airfields to allow Iran-Iraq War scenarios. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics MiG-29A Fulcrum Intro video now live We just released the MiG-29A Introduction video for our upcoming DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum. Also known as project 9-12A, this Soviet light fighter was designed in the 1970s, and entered service in 1983. This episode reviews the Fulcrum’s design and mission and its key features such as twin RD-33 engines, automatic slats, an all-moving tailplane, and 9G capability combined with high angle-of-attack flight. Paired with the Helmet-Mounted Sight and R-73 high off-boresight air-to-air missile, the Fulcrum is a deadly opponent in a dogfight. This video also reviews the planned weapons for our MiG-29A which includes the R-60, R-60M, R-73, R-27R/T, and R-27ER/ET air-to-air missiles and GSh-30-1 cannon. Our Fulcrum can also employ unguided air-to-ground weapons such as bombs and rockets. Although considered a 4th generation fighter, the P-12A does not include multifunction displays, but rather a HUD repeater screen, ‘steam’ gauges, and limited Hand-On Throttle and Stick (HOTAS) functions. Despite this, the MiG-29A is a deadly opponent in Beyond Visual Range (BVR) combat when armed with long-range R-27ER and ET missiles, and when operated by skilled pilots. Keep an eye out for the next chapters where we learn the steps to bring a cold and dark Fulcrum to life, taxi to the runway, and take off. Development Progress Development progress on the DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum continues with much of the work focused on completing aircraft systems, the damage model, data transfer cartridge (DTC), skins, content, and bug fixing and tuning. We are also working on a large set of default controller input assignments to support several popular sticks and throttles. A 1st person pilot will also be available at launch; an often requested feature from VR pilots. It will also include ground equipment such as engine, intake, pitot, and louvre covers. We’ve been taking good note of the many MiG-29A skin requests you have made. At launch, we will provide the Soviet Union and Russia, East Germany, Poland, Kazakhstan, North Korea, and Syria. Many more are in the works and will be coming soon. Additional external modelling tasks being worked on, including highly detailed missile and bomb pylons and external fuel tanks. A version of the NS430 navigation system is also being developed for the DCS: MiG-29A as a separate download, and both English and Cyrilic cockpit and HUD options will be available at launch. Dogfight Tournament High Alpha Hooligans No AMRAAM spam here, just raw skill, nerves of steel, and some serious G-forces. Guns only. One life. No mercy. 6. 08 August 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, It is with great pleasure that we share a more complete list of the modules coming to the Pacific Theatre of Operations (PTO) Assets Pack. In parallel with other modules like the DCS: F4U-1D Corsair, the free DCS: Marianas WWII Map, and the upcoming DCS: F6F-3 Hellcat, the PTO Assets Pack is designed to provide a rich and detailed array of United States and Imperial Japanese air, ground, and naval units in the summer of 1944 PTO. Many of these units are finished, and others are still in progress; we look forward to your feedback. We are steadily progressing on our earlier released Mission Save State function. Please read the report below to learn about how we are improving this very useful feature. Additionally, we have added several fantastic modules to our Free Trial Program. You can try these aircraft and maps at no cost or obligation. Take them for a spin today! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Pacific Theatre of Operations 1944 Assets Pack Update Since the release of the free DCS: Marianas WWII map and the Magnitude 3 DCS: F4U-1D Corsair, we want to provide an update on the extensive effort being devoted to bringing this scenario to life with the PTO Assets Pack. Learning from some of the European Theatre of War scenarios, the PTO scenario is focused on providing an extensive order of battle for both US and Imperial Japanese forces in the summer of 1944 and to offer an accurate representation of the battle for the Mariana Islands and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. New player aircraft coming for this scenario will include both the F6F-3 Hellcat and the A6M5 Zero. Since our last update on this project, we can now share with you the specific air, land, and sea units being developed for the PTO Assets Pack, which owners of the existing World War II Assets Pack will be able to purchase with a 30% discount: PTO AI Assets: United States Aircraft F6F “Hellcat” SB2C “Helldiver” TBF “Avenger” SBD-5 “Dauntless” PBY “Catalina” P-38L “Lightning” United States Ships Enterprise aircraft carrier Casablanca-class light aircraft carrier Independence-class light aircraft carrier New Orleans-class heavy cruiser Baltimore-class heavy cruiser Cleveland-class light cruiser Fletcher-class destroyer Liberty-class transport Cimmaron-class oiler United States Ground Forces M4A2 Sherman M3A1 “Stuart” light tank LVT-4 tracked landing vehicle LVT(A)-4 tracked landing vehicle DUKW-353 amphibious truck US Marine Corp infantryman US Navy Carrier personnel US Navy seaman Imperial Japanese Aircraft A6M5 “Zero” D4Y “Judy” D3A “Val” B6N “Jill” Imperial Japan Ships Shokaku aircraft carrier Chitose light aircraft carrier Kongo battleship Mogami heavy cruiser Agano-class light cruiser Yugumo-class destroyer Kagero-class destroyer Kashino-class transport Imperial Japanese Ground Forces Type 94 Tankette Type 95 Ha-Go tank Kurogane Type 95 car Type 97 Te-Ke tank Type 97 Chi-Ha tank Type 97 ShinHoTo tank Type 2 Ka-M amphibious tank Type 1 47mm anti-tank gun Type 98 20mm anti-aircraft gun Type 91 10cm towed artillery Type 92 70mm towed artillery Type 10 120mm anti-aircraft gun Imperial Japanese Army Infantryman Japan Navy seaman Mission State Save Development Progress Following the initial release of the Mission Save state feature, we have gathered your feedback for further improvements. Based on this, we delivered an API feature request to our talented scripting community which was well received. Moving forward, a common request has been saving destroyed unit states on the battlefield. We have now tackled this issue, and destroyed static objects will be created in place of each destroyed ground vehicle, aircraft, infantry unit, or static building (not terrain/map buildings) in the Mission Save state. In this sense, the battlefield wreckage remains where the destruction took place. With the Mission Editor, these objects will be automatically given a "hidden" parameter to not clutter the map view. However, if you want to remove them from the mission because of your plot choice, you can find them in the Mission Editor units list and delete them. We will be releasing this improvement in an upcoming update once testing is fully complete. Based on your feedback, our next task for Mission Save state improvements will be to save a group’s waypoint parameters. This work is ongoing and includes the ability to save specific ground vehicles parameters such as ROE and more. In response to recent comments and questions made by Razbam Simulations, its proxies and/or external developers, Eagle Dynamics confirms that it signed a settlement agreement with Razbam at the end of 2024 to put an end to the existing disputes and that such agreement also provides for a strict confidentiality requirement that prevents Eagle Dynamics from disclosing further information. Eagle Dynamics can, however, confirm that Razbam instructed Eagle Dynamics to cease selling the modules developed by Razbam and its independent developers. All modules continue to function ‘as is’ and despite not receiving any access to source codes or cooperation from Razbam and its external developers, Eagle Dynamics will do its best to ensure that these modules continue to function in 2.9.X. We are still hoping to be able to implement the settlement agreement and to find a satisfactory outcome to the current situation, in the best interests of our valued community. SPO-15 Beryoza For the MiG-29A Fulcrum The SPO-15LM for the DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum module is built using a new physics-based approach. The system simulates a more realistic signal environment in order to ensure the most realistic behavior, algorithms, and limitations of the modelled SPO-15LM RWR system. The new system comes with a radar database containing signatures and behaviors for each radar system in the game, including details like carrier frequency, waveform type and (if applicable) pulse train pattern for different operational modes, antenna and transmitter properties, search strategy depending on range and altitude of the target, signal variability, and CCM used etc. All of this information is used in two ways: to calculate accurate power density at the receiving antenna at each time step, taking into account the physical properties of the signal and the directivity pattern of the transmitter antenna, and to permit realistic modelling of the RWR system itself. On the receiving end, the antenna and receiver properties are similarly taken into account in order to obtain a physically accurate estimate of received power. Each antenna and receiver channel is processed independently. This is critical for accurate modelling of the Soviet systems as they do not use amplitude comparison to estimate emitter azimuth; instead, each of the azimuth channels on the display corresponds to its own set of an antenna, a receiver, and initial processing hardware. As a result the coverage isn’t always 360 degrees. The antenna beamwidth varies with frequency and the antenna gain varies with azimuth and elevation, which causes the detection range and signal power for each emitter to vary not just with radar type and work mode (with the radar transmitter power and antenna gain being the deciding factor rather than its target detection performance) but also with orientation of the aircraft. The emitting antenna directivity pattern is also simulated, which means that, at low distance and high transmitting power, side lobes will be picked up and head-on emissions will bleed into receiving antenna side and back lobes blinding the device. Conversely at low signal power, the system develops blind zones all around the aircraft, and the RWR might fail to pick up the main lobe unless it passes directly over it. The unusual antenna coverage of SPO-15LM in particular requires the pilot to be aware of these blind zones during combat. The improved simulation of signal propagation, together with attached signal signature (PRF, pulse width etc.) allow for accurate modelling of the signal processing algorithms used by the system. The SPO-15LM, while being an analog system, performs many tasks that are normally relegated to digital systems, and some of these analog systems use vastly different approaches compared even to early western systems, which leads to numerous quirks and limitations that are now accurately replicated. The most obvious, as already described, is how the threat azimuth is determined: The airspace around the aircraft is divided into eight azimuth channels covered by 10 azimuth antennas (with, notably, the two forward-facing antennas furthest off-nose on each side merged into a single processing channel), and two elevation channels covered by two elevation antennas. Each of these channels is processed separately with a fixed signal power threshold to activate each channel. The only time the signals are combined is to measure the signal power for the power level display (which now shows the actual signal power in 2 dB increments from threshold, rather than a simple function of range) and for the target priority algorithm. Lack of combined processing also means that coverage of each channel will vary with emitter power and frequency. The system features compensation systems, but they are crude and their effectiveness varies with signal power. The identification and target priority circuits also process each channel separately, meaning that in rare cases the same threat might even be interpreted differently in two neighboring channels, and two threats on opposite azimuths might both be interpreted as a single, main threat if the signals sync up. The identification process involves measuring the repetition time and pulse width of the signal and sorting it into very broad PRF/PW bins. The measurement of PRT can fail if it’s not stable (e.g. due to jitter) making some radars impossible to identify. The presence of multiple emitters in the same sector will also interfere with this process. Even if this part succeeds, the low number of signal parameter bins means that the system might still assign the wrong type to the threat if the signal parameters are close enough. The system is also able to separate Continuous Wave (CW) signals from pulsed signals, and to interpret colocated CW and pulsed emitters as a single emitter in Semi-Active Radar Homing (SARH) guidance mode; it cannot however distinguish between different CW radar types, meaning this feature is susceptible to false alarm. Pilots thus need to be weary of the fact that the system will not always be able to accurately identify the threat type. To improve usability of the system, the threat program is generated automatically based on known threats present in the mission and is provided in the kneeboard for every flight - in reality, the threat program cartridge was issued to units based on the threats present in the combat theatre, and was not designed to be field reprogrammable. The friendly emitters are not included in the program, but they might still be falsely identified as hostile for reasons described above. The system also has an ability to sort the signals into 2 bins by carrier frequency, however in the MiG-29 this feature is permanently disabled, as it requires each sub-band to be scanned separately, reducing probability of detection against radars in search mode (the MiG-29 lacks the full control panel which would allow this function to be switched on and off). The target priority circuit is similarly modelled with its limitations. For instance, the system takes flight altitude into account for the priority algorithm, but it has to be entered manually. In the MiG-29 in particular it is forced to a high setting (8-16 km) without any way to adjust it, meaning, Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems are always treated as low priority. The system will also prioritize radars in track mode over search mode. But again, track mode is recognized entirely by the length of the illumination event being above a certain threshold, so at high signal power emitter side lobes might falsely trigger the track warning. For the priority threat, the system displays the signal power (as well as the highest estimate of weapon range for the given type in terms of equivalent signal power) and the elevation - the latter only being available at high signal power due to much lower sensitivity of the elevation channels. Pre-order today! Don’t miss the exclusive 30% discount. Hurry! This offer only lasts until launch. Once launched into early access, the discount will be reduced to 20% off. Cold War Germany Updates coming soon Ugra-Media’s upcoming update will focus on polish and immersion. Several navigation aids will have corrected identifiers like the Frankfurt VORTAC and Northeim and Walldorf airfields broadcasting their proper callsigns. City names for Weißenfels and Gießen have been corrected, and the F10 map sports resized/repositioned prepared SAM sites, radar, and hospital map icons for faster mission creation and planning. You will notice more realistic destruction effects for industrial plants and power stations, a new damage model for stadiums, and improved fields with hay bales and tractors. Typical village churches will have more accurate heights to improve visual low-level navigation. These refinements move the terrain one step closer to Phase 2 in which it will be expanded further. Please stay tuned for the next update to enjoy these updates. Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,

  13. 20 June 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, In collaboration with Magnitude 3 we are delighted to bring you the long awaited early access launch of the DCS: F4U-1D Corsair. The ‘Bent Wing Bird’, as she was affectionately named, was built for long range air-to-air and air-to-ground attack operations and packed a serious punch with rockets, bombs and machine guns. It mainly flew over the expanse of the Pacific theater from land bases, but also operated from Essex-class aircraft carriers. Take a look at the launch video here. This is a classic not to miss. This week’s update focuses on providing a number of quality of life core improvements including AI and weapon improvements, with further refinement of the Quick Action Generator. Aircraft such as the F-16C, F/A-18C, and AH-64D as well as several 3rd party aircraft also received important enhancements, In addition to the Corsair, this update features the release of the highly detailed free DCS: Marianas WWII map. This is the first stage of our Pacific Theater of Operations scenario. We will be attending the FlightSimExpo 2025 from the 27th to the 29th of June at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence! Come and find us as guests of the WINWING booth; we’ll be showing off DCS with their latest hardware. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics F4U-1D Corsair Fly it in early access The early-access Corsair features a highly detailed and realistic cockpit and external model that are rendered entirely with PBR textures. The featured -1D version includes a Mk.8 Mod.1 fixed gunsight and even the ASM-N-2 Bat glide bomb. Flight modelling simulates the aircraft’s unique characteristics that made it a deadly opponent to Japanese forces in 1944 and quite a challenge to operate from an aircraft carrier. The Corsair's powerful engine and massive prop torque provides exceptional speed and climb that leant towards its slashing attack tactics against slower and less capable aircraft. Along with the Corsair release, an Essex-class aircraft carrier, Japanese coastal guns and ground vehicles will be available for free as part of the Core update. Other assets are being created such as the F6F Hellcat and many United States and Imperial Japanese air, ground, and naval units. Please see: Pacific Theatre of Operations | CH-47F Development Progress | Lunar Sale Final Hours - Official Newsletters - ED Forums. For this scenario, we are creating an extensive and accurate set of units that match the time and location. This will allow you to recreate the Battle for the Mariana Islands and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. The DCS: F4U-1D Corsair is available now for only $47.99 during the early access phase. Please note that once the module is released, the price will increase to $59.99. DCS Update Development Progress This week’s update is headlined by the free DCS: Marianas WWII map and the long-awaited DCS: F4U-1D Corsair. This update has also squashed several stability and performance bugs, improved AI behaviour, overhauled several missile flight models, and pushed a healthy list of quality-of-life fixes to the Quick Action Generator, Mission Editor, and Voice Chat. Marianas WWII A free map of the Mariana islands that includes Guam, Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and Pagan. Based on period maps and photos of the islands in the summer of 1944, they are characterized by hastily bulldozed runways, cane fields, volcanic ridges and villages under Imperial Japanese control. DCS Core Texture streaming now uses less RAM and disk I/O; Mission-Editor templates and resource-manager copy functions are now working correctly; WWII ground units received proper radar returns; SAM logic prioritises targets more sensibly; Buk and Kub missiles received improved aerodynamics, while the R-27 series of air-to-air missiles now deliver more accurate velocities. The Quick Mission Generator received several improvements such as fixing era/country mismatches, restoring missing aircraft and adjusting altitude and airspeeds. Voice-chat mode selection and mid-transmission slot-switch crashes have also been fixed. Eagle Dynamics Modules F/A-18C received more accurate AIM-7 FLOOD and AIM-9 uncage logic, and the flashlight behaviour has been fixed. Work continues on the new Terrain Avoidance radar mode and the ability to set surveillance MSI surveillance tracks as an L&S and DT2. F-16C Viper saw AGM-65 seeker fixes, INS/GPS drift corrections, HMCS symbology tweaks, and a long list of HAD and CMDS improvements, while the new AN/ASP-33 pod moved into extended testing. Although our hope and intention was to release this new targeting pod for the Viper by the end of Quarter 2 of 2025, it requires a bit more time in testing to ensure a quality release that will include new features such as Multi-Target Tracking (MTT), Picture-in-Picture that combines the infrared and TV cameras, Extended Range (XR) functions, and more. The planned release is for summer 2025. CH-47F receives a major CDU/MFD feature drop including hover-mode HSD, full fuel-and-power pages, data search, progress pages, plus keyboard entry options and pedal-trim fixes. Miscellaneous: the Su-25T instant-actions were added for the Iraq map; the F-86F jettison sound bug is silenced; and the Black Shark 3 enjoys ABRIS accuracy tweaks. Third-Party Additions Orbx – Kola adds six new arctic bases, colour-corrected summer textures, runway-data fixes and an optimisation sweep. Deka – JF-17 introduces TWS-EXP radar mode and radar-page HPT fixes. New Campaigns and Improvements The F-4E Northern Defenders Campaign by Flying Cyking and the P-47D Wolfpack II Overlord Campaign by Reflected Simulations are also now available. Along with the improvements included in last week's update, more campaign improvements will follow later in June. Read the full changelog. FlightSimExpo 2025 Come hang out with us! 14. 13 June 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, The Kola map is progressing steadily with six new airfields, improved ground textures and reduced loading times slated for the next DCS update! Please read the details below and keep your eyes peeled for the incoming update. Development Screenshots. In collaboration with Magnitude 3 and to support the release of the F4U-1D Corsair, we are developing the United States Navy’s revolutionary weapon in the Pacific Theatre: the ASM-N-2 Bat, the world’s first fully automated, radar-guided glide bomb. Deployed in April 1945, the Bat’s active radar system made it a pioneer of modern missile technology capable of autonomously homing in on targets with deadly accuracy. Please read the details below. The Corsair is undergoing thorough tests, and we plan to deliver this module in the next update. We look forward to your feedback. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics DCS: Kola – One Year of Development A Year of Crafting the Battlefield One year on, the DCS: Kola map continues to expand as a dynamic and strategically significant theatre within DCS. Developed by Orbx, a leading scenery developer, this map spans over 1.35 million square kilometers of Arctic and sub-Arctic terrain covering northern Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia’s Murmansk and Karelia regions. Since release, the map has received substantial improvements; adding new airfields, infrastructure, visual improvements, and performance enhancements that have shaped it into the detailed and responsive environment it is today. Built for large-scale operations, the map blends complex infrastructure with fjords, tundra, forests, and mountainous zones layered with historical and modern-day military relevance. With more than 20 functional airfields, detailed ports, and key industrial zones already in place, Kola supports a wide variety of tactical scenarios. End of Early Access – 22 July 2025 The Kola map will exit Early Access on 22 July 2025. This marks the formal end of the initial launch phase, but not the end of development. Orbx remains committed to ongoing improvements, with new content and technical updates already planned. “The development of the Kola map is not ending with Early Access. We are committed to adding content and updating the map in line with the platform technical innovations. Orbx started to work on the map over three years ago and this has been a great project for us. We have learned much about DCS and will use that knowledge together with our passion for creating terrain and sceneries to enhance this map even further.” — Anna Cicognani, CEO, Orbx What’s Been Delivered 1.35 million km² of land and sea coverage 20+ airfields with surrounding infrastructure and navigation Custom ports, radar sites, urban centres, and military facilities Free and payware missions available via Orbx and ED stores Significant VRAM and performance optimisations Scheduled New Content for June 2025 Release: Kilpyavr (XLMW) Luostari (XLML) Koshka Yavr (XLMY) Kalevala (ULPK) Poduzhemye (XLPU) Afrikanda (XLMF) Coming Over the Next 3-6 Months: Airfields & surrounding infrastructure ESPG, ESNG, ENKA, ENVR, and EFRU Enhanced ground textures for low-level flight Continued VRAM and rendering performance updates Why Kola Matters The Kola region has long served as a critical military frontier — home to Russia’s Northern Fleet and dense Cold War-era infrastructure, now bordering NATO-aligned airspace. ASM-N-2 Bat America's First Radar-Guided Bomb The release of the ASM-N-2 Bat in DCS marks a significant advancement in World War II combat simulation by introducing the first operational radar-guided glide bomb to the battlefield. This weapon enhances the strategic depth and historical authenticity of late-war scenarios, allowing players to engage enemy ships from stand-off distances with unprecedented precision for the era. Its inclusion showcases evolving aerial strike capabilities and provides a unique tactical option for pilots flying U.S. Navy aircraft, emphasizing the technological innovation that began to reshape air warfare in the closing stages of WWII. Development and Design The Bat’s origins trace back to 1941, when RCA proposed a television-guided anti-shipping weapon called Dragon, where an operator would steer the bomb using a live TV feed from its nose. The National Bureau of Standards (NBS), later part of the Army Research Laboratory, was tasked with designing the airframe, building on the same guidable ordnance frame used in the earlier, abandoned Project Pigeon. By 1942, the concept evolved into the Pelican, a semi-active radar-guided bomb for anti-submarine warfare. In mid-1943, the design shifted again to incorporate an active radar homing system from Western Electric, paired with a 1,000-pound (454 kg) AN-M65 general-purpose bomb, the same ordnance used in the USAAF’s Azon guided munition. The final Bat design, officially designated SWOD (Special Weapons Ordnance Device) Mark 9, was a technological marvel for its time: The Bat featured a plywood frame, constructed by the Rudolph Wurlitzer Organ Co., known for its expertise in bending plywood for organs and jukeboxes. Its 12-foot-long, 10-foot-wide structure was gyrostabilized with a Bendix Aviation autopilot, using elevons (combined ailerons and elevators) for steering. Small wind-driven generators powered the controllable tail elevator, linked to an S-band radar homing device in the nose. The Bat carried a 1,000-pound general-purpose bomb, optimized for anti-shipping strikes but adaptable for land targets like bridges. Corsairs over the Marianas in 1944 June 1944. Dawn slides across the Pacific and glints off the blue-black wings of the brand-new F4U-1D Corsair as she taxis onto the deck of USS Essex. Below, a seething amphibious armada is already closing in on Saipan’s coral beaches. Flight-lead Lieutenant “Duke” Klein pulls his canopy shut, opens the cowl flaps, and spools the mighty R-2800 to life. The gull-winged fighter shudders like a thoroughbred straining against the blocks. One last magneto check, a green flag from the deck officer, and the Bent-Wing Bird is hurled into the humid morning sky. That take-off sequence is exactly what you’ll feel in DCS with the DCS: F4U-1D Corsair by Magnitude 3 LLC. The module is confidently approaching finals with our recent tests showing promising results for an early access launch. Stay tuned! Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,
  15. 6 June 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, This week’s patch went out on Tuesday, the 3rd of June, and brought a campaign-focused refresh that trims load times, polishes radio work, and injects new AI behaviour across some of our community’s favourite storylines. From Combat King’s completely re-sculpted A-10C II Operation Agile Spear to Reflected’s Jester-enhanced Phantom sorties, this update is all about sharper immersion and smoother play. Please update and download the 2.9.16.10973.1 build. Marianas 1944 and the smell of the Pacific blue is on the horizon! After months of meticulous island-hopping, our World-War-II rendition of the Mariana Islands has reached release-candidate status. 1944 Saipan, Tinian, Guam, and their sister islands now bristle with crushed-coral runways, Quonset camps, and shipwreck-strewn lagoons, ready for your Corsairs! We are progressing steadily and looking forward to releasing this free module very soon. For evenings filled with the hiss of afterburners and a canopy filled with contrails, check out the DCS Dogfighters Discord! They are the hosts of the BFM 1v1 cup by VIRPIL Controls and offer 1v1 and 2v2 servers for you to enjoy and sharpen your skills. Join up. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics DCS Campaigns Development Progress A-10C II Operation Agile Spear receives a full campaign diet: compressed voice-overs, lighter briefing art, and wholesale replacement of legacy AI flights cut mission load-times dramatically. Three sorties: 03, 05, 08 are brand-new builds with revised strike packages, smarter enemies, and reworked scoring, while every mission gains fresh chatter and cleaner radio logic. Watch out for the surprise on Mission 15’s short final. UH-1H Peacekeeper Lebanon fixes its opening ferry flight by restoring the correct Almirante Lynch NDB, ensuring a smooth coastal hop. F/A-18C Inherent Resolve patches Mission 1’s stuck debrief, adds a TGP and extra ordnance, and fine-tunes Delta Flight re-joins; Mission 3 is now a hot-start armed-recce with optional Hard/Immortal modes, refreshed target sets and working audio cues. In the most recent update, you can also find that Reflected Simulations’ Tomcat and Phantom sagas have received quality-of-life passes. Fear the Bones and Speed & Angels now compute carrier wind-over-deck precisely, adopt Tomcatter 87’s new S-3 skins, and boost radio-signal strength. Both MiG Killers and Red Flag 81-2 integrate the latest Jester logic for snappier calls and smarter bars. Marianas WWII Development Progress Over the past quarter, we finalized the core terrain mesh, completed eleven wartime airfields based on survey data, and replaced modern infrastructure with heritage structures, including barracks, cane presses, and Shinto shrines. Vegetation density was recalibrated to 1940s agricultural patterns, and new shader compiling has shaved nearly 20% off GPU load in over-island dogfights. The free Marianas 1944 map is now feature-complete and internal testing is nearing completion. Currently, our artists are fine-tuning areas such as Ushi Point on Tinian and the Orote Peninsula based on 1944 field recordings, images, and footage. We are also working on mission content. Looking ahead, our next milestone is to lock the build and provide a release candidate to our internal and Closed Beta testers. We will then conduct large-scale multiplayer stress tests and deliver the map into Early Access. Stay tuned!
