  1. Welcome the the "dark side". I fly MSFS and XP a lot as well (with some occasional space ship flying in Star Citizen). I really have to say that one can't compare military aircraft in a civilian flight sim with the ones you find in DCS. You'll definitely want to spend some money and time to get yourself a good HOTAS setup. The T16000 by TM is a good entry level choice. I've used the Warthog by TM for a bit, but recently I've upgraded to VPC controls. The WarBRD-D base with the Constellation Alpha Prime Grip, coupled with the MongoosT50-CM3 throttle are really something else. Carrier landings and AAR are so much more enjoyable and easier with a really good controller setup. I fly multiple modules in DCS (helis as well), and I love the versatility and all the axis and buttons that can be assigned to your heart's content. Also a set of rudder pedals is very important. The fidelity of the flight model in the F18 (and the other modules) is very high. And you'll get much more immersed with a good HOTAS setup. The learning curve might be a bit steep, but take your time. Flying your first campaign, or having fun on a multiplayer server is so rewarding! Have a lot of fun with your new plane and sim!
  2. Yeah, a quick look at the HUD would have made it clear. But I probably just saw the normal pitch ladder and confusion was too big
  3. Exactly. I had no clue what was going on... Pretty sure it also comes from flying too many planes in DCS.
  4. Wow, it's been the DGFT switch. It was somehow mapped to a 3-way switch on my Warthog throttle. I should have looked at the HUD, but somehow I was too confused... It's perfectly fine.
  5. I have no mods at all... Yes, I´ll try a repair
  6. I can record a track. It´s really not workimg anymore. Pressing A-G for example does absolutely nothing. And the DMS switch doesn´t work anymore as. I´ce checked all bindings, they are still there... Very strange.
  7. I just downloaded the latest update and the excellent Sinai map. I wanted to refresh my F16 "skills" with some self made missions to have some fun with her over the new map. But many important htings like switching to A-A, A-G, the SMS page, etc. don´t seem to work anymore. Why is that? Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
  8. I can't see it in the ED shop page. It's on Steam, but I have the stand alone version. Too much traffic on the servers? I'll wait until tomorrow!
  9. So the slider axis on my grip is indeed defective. I have to send it to Virpil to have it fixed... So, one quick question: If I reconnect my Warthog stick, will the sim remember all the bindings I´ve once made with it, or will it be seen as a new device and I have to rebind everything from the start again?
  10. Ok. But for me personally, it feels sooooo much nicer with the Constellation Alpha Prime, that I'll probably sell the Warthog stick.
  11. I've contacted their support. They're really top notch. We'll get the issue sorted next week with an Anydesk session. I couldn't calibrate it properly, although the firmware has been flashed to the most recent version, etc. As for the modifier, you're totally right. I chose "switch", so no wonder it acted like one. The left side ("Modifier") is where I have to bind the pinkie switch. Thanks for your help!
  12. I have the same issue, but it's not a deal breaker for me. The"new" clouds are definitely the best in the flight sim business.
  13. So I got my Constellation Alpha Prime stick yesterday, and with it attached, the clacking is completely gone. So I can confirm, that these clacking sounds must be related to the Warthog grip.
  14. Sure, give it a try, and make sure it's not a negative curve.
  15. Hi there!h Go to the Controls Settings menu, choose the axis you want to set, click on "Axis Settings" on the bottom (I think that's what it's called, I'm on the German version), and there, add a curve of around 15, and maybe even a dead zone of around 3. Than it should work very comfortably.
  16. It´s like christmas, because today, my Constellation Alpha Prime grip arrived, just a few days after the WarBRD-D base! I got everything set up so far, and it really feels very nice. But during assigning all the buttons to the different modules, two things caught my attention: First, when choosing a joystick button as a modifier, the modifier acts like a toggle (one press to activate the modifier, one more press to deactivate it again), rather than having it only active while it is depressed (as it was with my Warthog stick). Can this behaviour be changed, and if so, how? And second, the paddle switch isn´t recognised as an axis in DCS (it´s not recognised at all to be exact), altough the calibration was succesful in the Virpil software. However, the software shows only values between 0-38%, rather than 50 or even 100%, when it´s being moved between its both stops. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks a lot for your help!
  17. I'll definitely check that. The Alpha Prime stick should arrive anytime soon as well, so I'll definitely know if it's caused by the stick or the base itself. Thanks for your input.
  18. Ok, good to know. So it might be a result of the design. And as I said, it's nothing that bothers me too much. Overall, the action is extremely smooth!
  19. Hi there! After a month of waiting, I received my Virpil WarBRD-D base 2 days ago. I'll get a Constellation Alpha Prime Grip as well, but for the last two days, I've been using it with my Warthog stick. I'm using it with the stock setup, and it's really ridiculously smooth. Flying a helicopter is a lot more precise with this setup, and the Mirage F1 is also a lot more controllable during these bombing dives. But, while doing certain motions (like a half circle of movement on the "aileron" axis, while the "elevator" axis is half way deployed) I get a reproducible "clack" out of the mechanism which can be heard and felt very clearly. I already opened up the housing, and there is no obvious issue with the mechanism. (it looks beautiful though ). This is not a deal breaker in any way as it only happens occasionally, but I've never read something like this about a Virpil base.
  20. Very interesting! Thanks a lot!
  21. It worked all like a charm! Thanks a gain for your help!
  22. Good point. Will try it tonight and report back. Thanks once more!
  23. Thx so much, that´s brilliant! I do the alignment and start the attack run with with "UP long", but I always struggle to get the signal... But it probbaly comes all from my gyros being toppled. I´ll give that another go! Ok, so there´s no user error concerning the hover problem, it´s just the way it is... Good to know! I couldn´t find the correct axis, thanks a lot, I´ll defintely bind it to my joystick!
  24. Hi there! I got myself the trial version of the Mi-24, and so far I am rellay enjoying it. Its graphics, and especially the great sounds (I use it with a buttkicker, driven by the excellent Simshaker Module) are highly immersive! I have a problem with the target designation of the Shturm though. I´ve done the tutorial (which worked great) and watched a bunch of YT videos. And still, I have the issue that the sight seems to be twisted (see attached screenshot), even when the helicoper is perfectly aligned with the target, and the line of sight for the weapon should be more or less prefectly boresighted (laterally). Is that normal? Or am I doing something wrong here? Might it be the altitude (too high in the 1st screenshot)? And, it´s very hard for me to get the red light and the high pitched signal tone. Once it appears, and I am able to fire the weapon, the missile hits the target very reliably. Also, being in the front cockpit, and letting Petrovich hover the heli in CMBT mode, he commands some severe yaw inputs from time to time, even though there´s no wind at all set up in my training mission. Why is this happening? And, one last question: How is the axis called to control the sight in the front cockpit? Right now, I´m controlling it with my mouse. But I´d like to map it to my joystick. Thanks a lot in advance for your valuable input!
  25. I'm definitely looking forward to flying over this beautiful region of the world. One question though. Has there been some sort of update about the status of this map? It's been very quiet on that subject here, until now
