Hi there! I just got my TM Warthog yesterday. After flying with a Saitek X55 for years, this feels like heaven. So precise and it just feels like the real deal. I love flying helis (I use XP12 exclusively for heli flying, had the spring removed in the X55 for it), and that's where the Warthog doesn't shine (in my opinion). I want to buy an extension for it. (Made by "Sahaj"). But I'm not sure, which one to get (7,5, 10, 15 or 20cm). It would be nice to have an extension which results in a practical compromise for flying helis AND A10C, F16 and Warbirds with one stick. Which length would you recommend for that? Plus, right now, the stick is placed on my desk. But with an extension, the height would be too much, and I'd need to place the stick somewhere else, preferably somewhere between my legs. () Where and how could I mount my stick to have a ergonomical position for it? Thanks a lot in advance for any input.

Worked like a charm, right out of the box. And it does feel soooo sweet! Only the 5 LEDs on the base of the throttle can't be assigned without digging deeper into scripts, right?

Thx a lot! Can´t wait to come home and try it!

Hi there! Today, my new TM Warthog got delivered. I'm pretty excited, and I'm upgrading from a Saitek X55, which developed a few issues lately. I'll be able to install an connect it tonight. Will the HOTAS work with the Tankkiller with all axis and buttons correctly assigned, out of the box? Greets, Michael

Superb guys! That's really super helpful! Thanks a lot for your effort! I think, I'll stick to the Dora for now and will just learn it by flying it a lot! Yesterday, I've been able to get 4 kills in quick self-made 1v1 missions, against the Mustang set to "veteran".

Right! The FW190s are a handful. I´ve chosen the FW190 because I had a very neat Anton for FSX which I absolutely loved... But I´ve flown all of the A2A Accusim birds as well, including the Spitfire and the P47... So, which warbird is a good allrounder for a beginner (if such a thing exists)?
-
Roger! And yes, energy management seems extremely important and a bit (a lot) more demanding in the warbirds. I just have to get used to the possibilities and the limitations of them, I guess. Yes, I've read about that. With all the modern birds I've flown, I'm pretty used to BVR and being a bit "aggressive" when it comes to PvP. In the warbirds, it's a whole different story, obviously. Spotting an aircraft and identifying it alone, is quite a task.

Thanks a lot. The idea with setting up a flight and spawning into another aircraft is excellent! Could you quickly explain which sort of manuevers you consider being essential for the dogfight in warbirds?

Hi there! I´m a long(er) time DCS user, but I just came to the "WW2 arena" during the last sale. I bought the A8 and D9 and the channel map. Due to the cool "test" feature of the e-shop, I´ve also got the Normandy 1944 map. I create simple missions, using the AI (1 vs 1) with "veterane" setting to train the dogfight. I´ve had a hard time, using the Anton, and it works a bit better in the Dora, but I still don´t feel anywhere near to being able to join a multiplayer server. I´ve flown a few missions, but I really wish, there was some sort of dogfight tutorial, especially for the warbirds. Any advice how to train my abilities in this area are highly appreciated! Thanks a lot in advance. Michael Edit: basic flying and takeoffs and landings work consitentely good in both birds.

I finally did the update. And in the end I got roughly 65GB of new data on my SSD, while the unpacked download was 155GB in size. Can't wait to give 2.8.0x a first try. The videos I've seen so far look absolutely amazing. Thx again for you input, guys!

That sounds logical. Maybe I'll just give it a try and let the download run over night...

That's it, I had that in mind. But now, the second 1TB Samsung M.2 SSD holds XP12 and MSFS (actually didn't want to install the latter one). And with both of these civilian sims eating up place like crazy, I'm only left with the system drive for DCS. Or, I might install a third SSD. But I'm pretty sure that my main board only offers 2 M.2 busses.
-
Ok, thx for the quick reply. Does that mean that the final install will be 150GB bigger? DCS is on my (Win) drive, it's a 1TB Samsung M.2 SSD, and right now, it's got roughly 460GB of free space left. Is it still true, that a SSD shouldn't be filled up with data? Edit: the smiley above should read C:\ drive. Can't edit it somehow.

Hi there! I´ve been away from DCS for a few months. Today, I wanted to update my 2.7.15.26783 beta install (Syria, South Atlantic, Persian Gulf, Nevada, AH64, F/A-18, Tomcat, Supercarrier, F16, AV-8B) to the most recent version. And the installer shows me an download of almost 150GB! That´s immense, can it be correct? Thx in advance for your input.

South Atlantic Map early access release note
Mik75 replied to myHelljumper's topic in South Atlantic
I like the atmosphere and the immersion the map is giving me so far. I like the Falkland islands, and the regions around the airfields in Argentina and Chile. The mountain regions are pretty nice, although the underlying mesh is really not high resolution at all. As aren't the ground textures. Anything lower than 20k ft looks quite bad. I really hope, that future updates will improve these things. Performance wise, I get everything from 60-120 fps in the Harrier, with my usual (quite high) settings, in a free flight scenario. I tried one quick mission, and the performance was pretty laggy, with heavy stuttering around the airfield. In its current state, I undoubtedly prefer Syria and the Persian Gulf though. -
I got it working again. Must have been something with the unusual loadout...
-
Thx for getting back. Yes, I've tried it in SAL, with the same outcome. No flashing rocket symbol, and none of the rockets showed "ready". Upon firing the laser, the message "weapon?" showed up, although the Hellfire was WAS'd. I'll try it again tonight, and if the problem persists, I'll attach a track file.
-
Hi there! Today I flew a mission with a total of 10 Hellfire missiles. The first 4 shots worked without any issues, but then, the next missile in sequence didn´t show "ready" anymore. (see attached screenshot). I couldn´t figure out, why that happened. What have I done wrong here? Was it due to the loadout? Thanks a lot in advance for any input! Note: The type was set to SAL, I only clicked R1 by accident, when I tried different stuff to get them working...

So, I tried the mission again, this time with single JSOWs at station 3 and 7, and tandem mode worked flawlessly. Thanks again for your help!

Ok, thanks a lot. So its been my fault. Will definitely try it with a different loadout tonight. In the video I've linked above, he carried a total of 4 JSOWs on 2 BRU-55 racks, so I came to the conclusion that it would with 2 as well.
-
yes, I know. Didn't have the time to get airborne. But be assured that it's the same behaviour in the air. The payload is 2 JSOWs on a BRU-55 rack.

Thx for checking. But it just won't work for me. Have you checked my track? Is there something I'm missing?
