boarder2 replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
V2 has been released to beta testers today. If everything continues as planned, I hope to have it submitted to Apple by the end of the month! -
iControl DCS (Another iPad pit)
boarder2 replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There are instructions available for iControl DCS here http://www.bit-shift.com/home/icontrol-dcs/help There is nothing to set up on the iPad. As long as it's connected to the same network as the PC, install the software and go! You need to have Bonjour installed on the PC (If you have iTunes installed, you probably already have it. If not, you need to get it via the links on the help page.) -

MFDs can't be exported via lua unless they fixed that in the latest patch. Which I doubt, but now that you mentioned it, ill definitely take a look. -

You can find more information about working with the lua scripting by looking at the export.lua script in your A-10 directory, and searching this message board. Here's a thread I found particularly helpful http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=61725 -

iControl DCS does not use Touch IR, that is correct. All values are sent directly to the simulator through the server. It does not fake key presses, or require key bindings to be remapped. -

Yes, to an extent. Its not documented and you have to do a lot of leg work yourself. -

Take a look at your screen resolution settings in windows (right click desktop, screen resolution, etc) If you've got multiple, monitors, do the tops all line up? You can click and drag them around to reorder and rearrange them. I'm not sure how DCS will behave if the tops arent all lined up. Hope that helps. If not, feel free to email me at the support email address shown on bit-shift.com. If you could include screensots of your display properties, icontrol config, and how it displays on the ipad, that might also help get to the bottom. -

iControl DCS will be ported to android later this year. -
I don't own an android phone to test on. As of right now there are some ideas I have floating around for the iPhone. If I get time to put those ideas into an app and its well received, its possible that I would try to port to smaller android devices.

iControl DCS for honeycomb tablets will be coming later this year. Keep an eye on twitter @bitshiftcom for status updates when development spools up in the coming weeks!

If anyone has any suggestions for anything they'd like to see in V2, I'm open for suggestions before I get too much closer to starting to button things up. -
Anyway Genius can made Kinect work on PC?
boarder2 replied to BBQ's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Using a kinect for head tracking like a Track IR replacement would not work very well at all. It would be very hard to tell which direction your head was facing. Especially at the resolution required in something like a flight simulator. The TrackIR has fixed points, that makes it much easier to determine where your head is and what direction it's facing. You may be able to do it with a kinect using some sort of headset, but at that point, you might as well get the trackir because you lose the advantage of not having to wear anything. It'll take a few more generations of motion capture to get what you're asking for. -

Got dials on the way. Take a look at this http://db.tt/wK0rz72 -
Here's a little tidbit. We now have switches that will work and sync to the running sim values! Check it out and follow on twitter for more updates as development continues!
-
It's here! Grab it while it's hot! For the initial launch, switches and dials aren't in - so radios are out. They'll be coming soon as an additional in-app purchase. Right now you can get live MFCDs, CDU and UFC. Grab the "all" package to get everything at a lower price than individual unlocks. It's free to try so give it a shot! http://bit.ly/1hDt8pr For those of you looking for just a CDU, you can get that now! Feedback is welcome and encouraged. Updates will be coming soon. I'll do my best to get this up to par with the iPad app as soon as possible!

No, it will have to be exported to displays attached directly to your computer. It's a limitation of A-10C unfortunately.
