iControl DCS 3.0 Released - New Free Version!
boarder2 replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Android tablets and iOS phone sized devices may happen, but it's not high on the list. Googles SDK and development tools aren't very user friendly and since this is a side project for me I can't spend all my time fighting with an SDK and IDE or you guys would never get anything! ;) -
iControl DCS 3.0 Released - New Free Version!
boarder2 replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
ILS has been quirky for a few builds, see http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1326578 Things seem to have changed in the 1.1.1.1 build, so I'll see if I can make it better after the holidays. Master Caution button should clear the caution, I'll definitely take a look at that as well - could be a bug! The CDU is only available in iControl DCS, not in A10VC Free. Thanks for your feedback! -
iControl DCS 3.0 Released - New Free Version!

I'll make a note of this for the next version of the server. 500x500 quite high resolution when exporting to the iPad, any higher would be a waste and just use more CPU unnecessarily. But given your use case I understand why you'd want to. I'll think about adding an override via holding shift while dragging or manually editing the dimensions in the editor. -
iControl DCS 3.0 Released - New Free Version!

You would have to manually combine the export scripts. In the future I may look into ways to make this a little easier. For now unless you're willing to hand edit files, you can only use one or the other -
It'd be awesome to get the shared memory access back for displays like the MFCD, CDU, etc. so they don't have to be exported to a monitor.

Can both of you send emails to support@bit-shift.com with your specific problems? It's a lot easier for me to keep track of things that way :) Tom - make sure that the virtual display is on the right side of your main display, and that your main display is marked as the primary. The configuration tool will refuse to expand into anywhere it sees as negative coordinates, because A-10 won't work when it's set up like that. AJ.85 - There shouldn't be lag like you're talking about. You seem to be running a pretty beefy system with plenty of cores. You could try limiting the FPS captured by the server in the options dialog to something lower than 60. Also make sure you have a very strong signal from your wireless access point and that there isn't other heavy wireless traffic while you're using the software, it uses a lot of bandwidth. Try lowering the quality and/or size of the exported MFCDs as well. If those suggestions don't solve the problems for you guys please let me know by email!

Not yet :) -
Alrighty boys and girls, it's been a while, but iControl DCS 3.0 is finally released (May take a while to propagate to all App Stores) along with a new server version. A-10 Virtual Cockpit Free A-10 VC Free is a limited functionality, ad supported version of its big brother iControl DCS. It is completely free. It has the combo MFCD, UFC, ILS, TACAN, Caution Warning, and a few other controls. It's a great way to give the application a try so you can see how well the MFCD export performs for you. You get all the server benefits of the paid version, screen setup, easy script install, etc. So tell all your friends that are on the fence that they can try it now! Changes for iControl DCS New icon Significant increase in MFCD frame rates in the combo view Double tap to zoom in and out of MFCDs Improvements in connection handling, disconnects, etc. New controls: Throttle control via "Control Surfaces" button - this feature is experimental and may be removed in future versions. Flaps Coolie Hat on zoomed MFCD Slew on zoomed MFCD [*]Many performance enhancements [*]Minor bug fixes Changes for A-10 VC Server (Works with both A-10 VC Free and iControl DCS) Installer! No more unzipping! New name, new icon One application. Works with both A10VC Free and iControl DCS Native versions for x86 and x64 Complete re-design of MFCD/CDU capture, faster and less PC resource intensive Ability to limit the frame rate captured Sim connection status Aero toggle - automatically disable Aero when the server starts Better detection of invalid configurations and guidance on resolving issues Improved debug logging Bug fixes and performance enhancements Requires Windows Vista or higher. Windows XP is not supported. Check out the website at http://www.bit-shift.com for more information on iControl DCS, A10 Virtual Cockpit Free, and A10 Virtual Cockpit Server. Thanks to everyone who's supported this project so far and for all the positive feedback. This is a great community and I'm not done yet... there's more coming in the next few months so stay tuned to twitter and the forums!

iControl DCS (Another iPad pit)
boarder2 replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've never set it up with virtual displays, but based on everything else I know, just try switching your virtual monitor to the right side of your main monitor. Just click and drag it in the display configuration screen. A-10 requires that the primary display be the left most display in order for all the coordinates to work correctly. Hope that helps! -
Blackberry PlayBook - DCS A-10C?
boarder2 replied to Sappo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Given the low number of units compared to iOS and Android powered tablets, you probably won't see anything in the near future unless it's from someone who already owns a PlayBook and decides to do it themselves. I'd love to be able to port iControl DCS to every tablet platform available, I just don't have enough time! -
Glad you're liking it! ILS frequency changing seems to be a bug in the sim scripting http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81456 I'd love if someone were able to shed some light on that. New version is coming real soon and will have much improved frame rates in the combo view, improved stability, and quite a lot more stuff! Hoping it will be finished and approved before the end of the year. Edit: That's a real nice setup you've got there!

Officially - no. Unofficially - I tried it quick yesterday and it seemed to work but I haven't gone through everything yet.

Doh! Multiplayer requires that the server allows client side scripting. By default it does integrity checking on all the files and disables client side scripts so people can't cheat. I believe if you are the one hosting the server, you just need to change the line in (A-10InstallDirectory)\Config\Export\config.lua to true instead of false. However, I haven't hosted multiplayer sessions - or even joined multiplayer sessions - so I can't say for sure. I'll add to the list of things in the future to see if there's any way I can detect that you're running in multiplayer or that the sim is not connected to the server. Anyway, glad we were able to get it working. Happy flying! :pilotfly:

There's room for improvement for sure. I'll work on that before the next release. The only thing you need to do as far as bonjour is concerned is have it installed. Run the server and set it up via the instructions here http://bit-shift.com/icontroldcs/index.html#help and here http://bit-shift.com/icontroldcs/index.html#displayconfig It should automatically find the server, however a few people have problems with their networking topography that prevents bonjour from working correctly. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about how someones network is set up. You can connect directly to the server by specifying the IP. To do that, follow the instrunctions at the bottom of this page http://bit-shift.com/icontroldcs/index.html#ipadhelp If it worked automatically before, you may want to try rebooting your computer, ipad, and network equipment once and try it again.

IPadpit version 2.0 available for download
boarder2 replied to Ghost_unit13's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
iControl DCS doesn't change your key mapping and the server has a utility to make configuring the screen for the MFDs easy. -
Unfortunately, it's a limitation of the simulator, not the iPad software or server. *There is no way to get the data from the displays other than exporting them to a monitor directly. *(If you can convince ED to make the displays available to modders via the scripts, I would take advantage of it immediately!) An alternative would be to set up your computer with a virtual display (software that acts as an additional monitor) and export the MFDs and CDU to it. You can find more information about how to do that here*http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1196165&postcount=42 I don't know if that'll work with a tripple head to go setup, and I do not personally run this configuration, and have never used it. I can't support it, but a ton of people here have gotten it to work and are pleased with the results. Otherwise you can just do like just about everyone else who has a tripple head setup including myself and just tuck the MFDs in the corners, you'll almost never even know they're there. Enjoy and happy flying!

Oh how I hope the radios not responding to LUA scripting makes it into this patch! Lots of frustrated iControl DCS users because the last patch broke it :(
-
Have a look at http://bit-shift.com/icontroldcs/index.html#help and http://bit-shift.com/icontroldcs/index.html#displayconfig Make sure the install location for A-10 is set correctly and then update the scripts via the tools menu.

iControl DCS - iPad Cockpit

What stability problems are you having? If you're having crashes, please submit the crash logs through iTunes. There's no way for them to get fixed if I don't know about them :) -
iControl DCS - Android - interest check
boarder2 replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
At the moment I'm holding off to see what Ice Cream Sandwich makes of the phones and tablets already on the market. I imagine (and hope) that Google will make the Android SDK more approchable and easier to use without having to do a bunch of goofy stuff to support all the different devices. So for now the Android project is on hold :( The bonus for that is that I get more time to refine the networking code and may have a pretty good frame rate solution for the next build, with less hit to the server CPU and all changes made to the server will affect any device this gets ported to. More FPS for everyone! -
DCS iControl Total Disapointment
boarder2 replied to IADC's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm sorry you're disappointed. We all are. Unfortunately, there's no way to fix the radio controls until ED fixes the broken API calls. They have said they will do this in the next patch. You are correct that there should be a warning in the app description and I will update the description on the App Store. It has been on the website since I was made aware of the problem: http://bit-shift.com/icontroldcs/index.html#download Thanks for your support and I hope you enjoy every other part of the application! We're all anxiously awaiting the new patch that will fix the radio API calls! -
Glad we got it sorted out! :)
-
Ok, let's try with debug mode then! :) Start the server in debug mode before A-10, go to the screen you're getting 1FPS on (while it's running at 30fps), start DCS, let it run for half a min or so, and send email me that output. I'm not sure if I'm logging enough that it will be able to pinpoint where the problem is, but it might get us close. We'll figure it out! :D
-
Sounds odd. You're the first one to have a problem like this :( I don't have an SLI, or even NVIDIA driven computer to try with. However, I'm sure there are plenty of other users that have one or both and no one else has had these problems. I would suggest completely reinstalling the app on the iPad (delete it and re-download from the App Store). And possibly doing the same for the server application on your PC. Definitely make sure you're not running with debug mode enabled (Options dialog). That will cause significant performance issues.

Honeycomb version for tablets work is going to start soon, I hope. No plans for a smaller phone version, yet.
