Yes. I don't officially support this method, so I can't really help you out here. I do know that Windows 8 changed how creating software displays works, so the guides that exist may not work. I run Windows 8 just fine with the MFCD/CDU exported to physical displays, however. It will change the display to be windowed mode and that will affect all modules. This is generally not a problem for modern video cards (Has a minimal impact on FPS). If you have special exports in other modules you'd need to manually switch to another display configuration as well. You can give A-10 VC Free a try (and I strongly encourage everyone to do so) from the App Store If you don't like how it works, the instructions for uninstalling are #6 here -

You shouldn't be connecting through the Internet so you definitely don't need and don't want to forward ports on your router. It should be on local WiFi. Make sure the ports are unblocked on your PC firewall. -

I'll take it into consideration for a future version! -
iControl DCS - Android - interest check
boarder2 replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Officially - Nothing to announce. Unofficially - I'm working on something, it's very very slow going, so don't hold your breath. -
You may need to update the scripts again from the tools menu. I briefly tested with 1.2.4 and everything seems to work fine on my end. If it still isn't working, drop me a line at http://support.bit-shift.com/

I am still interested, however I don't have any news to report other than don't expect it any time soon. That's my official statement... unofficially... I have a Nexus 7 sitting here that I got last week. And that's all I'll say about that. :music_whistling: -

Yes, it should work. You can test using A-10 VC Free (You won't get the CDU, but it'll at least you'll see that it works!) -

iControl DCS doesn't support turning ILS on or off. I couldn't find a good way to do this on the iPad. I'll look into it for future versions, though! -
Dcs a10 export.lua for iControl and Helios
boarder2 replied to Clairv0yant's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The new version of A-10 VC Server for DCS World (1.0.0.1) should allow iControl DCS and Helios to play nice together. If it doesn't work for you let me know at http://support.bit-shift.com Currently I'm looking into issues that some people appear to be having when upgrading from the beta version of A-10 VC Server for DCS World. -

No, it will only work with 1.2.3. -

If you're playing multiplayer, the server needs to enable scripting. Otherwise, open a support ticket and we'll get it sorted out. -

There is a new version of A-10 VC Server for DCS World v1.2.3 available on the site. For those of you who manually edited files - just make sure that in your Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\Export.lua if there's a dofile line for A-10 VC, delete it before you run the script updates within A-10 VC Server. If you have any issues, open a ticket at http://support.bit-shift.com Enjoy, and Happy Flying! :pilotfly: -
CDU displays on your smart phone or tablet. Is it possible?
boarder2 replied to domaniac's topic in DCS Modding
Yeah, this is pretty much my sentiment exactly. No bashing anything, in fact I like Android for what it is. I just wish it were easier to develop for, and less fragmented with devices. Until it's at least easier to develop for, I just can't spend time on it :) -

I'm toying with the idea of a Windows 8 application. I'm very busy with my day job lately, so I don't have much time to work on it. Here's a really, really early proof of concept from ... a long time ago http://twitpic.com/aqaa0n -

There's an issue when Helios and iControl DCS are enabled at the same time. It's my fault and I need to fix it in the server. Can you open a ticket at http://support.bit-shift.com and I'll make sure that the fix works for you as well as someone else who had the problem before I release a new version of the server? Thanks! -

Try disabling aero. You can do that either in A-10 VC Server settings, or in sim if you're running DCS: World. -
CDU displays on your smart phone or tablet. Is it possible?
boarder2 replied to domaniac's topic in DCS Modding
This is precisely why there's no iControl DCS for Android. Sorry guys :( Complain to Google if you want it. I don't have time to make an Android version since iControl DCS is a side project for me and there'd just be too much overhead with not enough extra revenue coming back in for my wife to not really hate me! :) Plus there's probably almost no way I'd be able to make it performant enough on some of the old crappy Android hardware floating around so people would be disappointed with performance and leave bad reviews, etc. -

As was mentioned before, iControl DCS/A-10 VC use WiFi to do the communication between your iPad and computer. It is critical that you've got a very strong WiFi connection and that nothing else on the network is using a lot of bandwidth while you're gaming. If you're not using the live MFDs, you can disable them from the server. This will prevent the live displays from being sent to the iPad and will free up bandwidth. You can also reduce the quality and frequency of updates on the CDU repeater in the Server settings. This will reduce the bandwidth requirements and CPU overhead required on your PC. At some point in the future there may be a CDU only product, but not yet :) -

For the time being this is only for A-10. This is a side project for me and I just don't have time right now to do the rest of the aircraft. Believe me, I want to. I need to clone myself! :) -

I think I answered this over at SimHQ, but in case someone else here has similar questions, here were my responses: 1. Yep! 2. Yep! 3. You can arrange them however you want. The server will pull them from wherever you're exporting them to be used on the TM MFDs. 4. I would always recommend grabbing the free version and making sure it works well for you. 5. Unlike some of the other apps that fake keypresses, iControl DCS sends commands directly to the simulator, so no matter what your keybindings, we won't mess with them.
