  1. sadly......no
  2. Indeed, Antialiasing and Anisotropic settings will inprove this.
  3. Hehe pretty damn cool
  4. Just for the record, I don't think the ingame speed is off. Actually, I'm sure this is 100% correct. I'm just speaking of the sensation of speed. Not that it matters that much for a helo sim, though it does matter for the other (jet) DCS modules.
  5. Fact is, when objects (clouds also) are closer to you, you get a better sense of speed. Also fact, the clouds in BS/LO may look pretty nice, the weather engine though.....uhm....there isn't really one....
  6. ....when you start to walk around totally lame after you got out of your car, making the police wondering what kind of drugs this is......
  7. Many of you mention the ground and its details, though I found that the minimum altitude of clouds (cloud base) is always (not speaking about overcast) at 2000 meters and never lower. In reality, the cloud base rarely appears so high. In fact, on a typical nice day the cloud base starts around 300 meters early morning and rizes during the day to around 1400 meters. So, what does this have to do with sensation of speed? Well, very simple, if you fly low the sensation of speed is more noticable. The exact same is true for clouds. If they are closer to the surface & you, the sensation of speed is better. ED, for whatever reason, never got this weather engine right, not in Lomac, not in FC, not in BS and i'm pretty sure also not in FC2.......too bad for such a great simulator.
  8. We are not rushing it, but the video will come!
  9. Earlier posted track with landings: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=823996&postcount=6 :)
  10. In Ka-50/Config/View/server.lua (open with notepad) you can change camera terrain restriction to false Find the line: CameraTerrainRestriction = true and change: CameraTerrainRestriction = false
  11. Very good question, I found this also very strange. Especially because in LockOn you DO see all control surfaces move and heatblur on other planes. ED is probably the only one to give an accurate answer to this question.......ED??
  12. You can not make sounds louder as "1.0" in the sound.cfg (BS will crash) so the only way is to edit the wav files in an editor like audacity. Note: RotorKa50.wav = Main rotor sound RotorKA50Dyn.wav = comes in when the rotors are under stress (high speed, turns). You might also want to check out the Hokumsounds mod, according many an inprovement over the original sounds.
  13. So, seen that in the other thread people didn't go in to what went wrong there, I guess it would be good to analyze this video here. What do you people think went wrong? My guess is that it is an unexperienced pilot in his/her first few carrier landings with the Su-33. It looks like the pilot is first too high and to correct he/she puts the trottle back too far, resulting in a too steep glide slope. After throttling up, the pilot waits for the engines to spool up again and has no choise but to pull up the nose while waiting for power. All in all it looks like a major mistake, I think the pilot should have recognized the first mistake and abort the landing in an earlier stage.

    HokumSounds

    Yes, ofcourse ;)

    HokumSounds

I tried this with several sound editing programs, though not with any good result. But at the end, this does not matter that much. The only thing you do is seperate the sounds, to make them sound the same again as they are now. The next best thing would be a new (bugfree) sound engine, not different sounds.....

    HokumSounds

Regarding the sound volumes. I balanced the sounds so that it sounds very similar to the video. Some may find that the cockpit sound (EngineTV3117In.wav) is too loud because they don't hear the rotor sounds very well. There are two reasons why I made the cockpit sound quite loud: 1 - as you can hear in the movie, when in a hover, you barely hear the rotors flapping. The flaping sound becomes much more obvious when the rotors are under stress (high speed and turns), the exact way it is in the mod now. 2 - originally you hear the explotions and other aircraft sounds very loud in the cockpit. I found this unreal and so the loud cockpit sound reduces this aswell. Please note that the main sound leveler in BS options should be adjusted so that the cockpit sound is at a comfortable level. About the engine sounds (EngineTV3117.wav & EngineTV3117_.wav) Please note that the real engine sound (the high pitched sound) comes from the "RotorKa50.wav" sound file! I could not find a good record of the Ka-50 engines without any flapping or other distortions. And so, the original game engine sounds should only be hearable on engine startup! About the RotorKA50Noise.wav You are right, this sound is very buggy which often can't be solved by F1-F2 switching. If I would make a second version of the HokumSounds this sound will be muted. Please also note that I do sound testing/editing with a headset on. If you use speakers the sounds may not be exactly as they are intended. Different sound cards could also make the sound experience different. After all, you are ofcourse free to do whatever you want with the sounds to make them sound good for you. Sounds are often also personal preference. About the sound.cfg I can make a big explanatory of what everything means in the sound.cfg though this will be very time consuming. Time I do not have at the moment. Most of it is quite obvious and if not you can find out quite easily by changing values. To find out what exactly I changed you could compare the original and the modded sound.cfg. Hint: the changes are made in the lines of the corresponding sounds in the mod.
  17. Not the same but exciting as well, Blue Angels passes :)
  18. If you take a look at his options.lua he already has water at low......
  19. ah yea, seen the screenshots you have taken you run XP, installing Vista or W7 will certainly give you those 10 FPS (probably more).
  20. The following will pump out a few more FPS. graphics.cfg ----------- structures = {60, 5000}; ----------- LandLodDistances { LandDay { L01 = 10000; L12 = 20000; } LandNight { L01 = 10000; L12 = 20000; ----------- options.lua ["avionics"] = 1, ----------- The only other way to increase your FPS will be a system overclock, or buy new hardware :smilewink:
  21. As VFAT coördinator & organizer I would be happy to advice though I have to hold back on "working together" seen my limited free time.
  22. Great you give your opinion zdXu, but back it up with reason. I think you need a good forum lesson.
  23. In my opinion it will be much more fun to fly all live instead of posting tracks. With the risk of running ahead of everything, you might also want to consider using Livestream to stream the matches/games/races so that people can watch online (without the need to be ingame, so pilots will have no lags). Take the Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams for example, this started the same way like this thread 5 years ago, and now we have around 10.000+ spectators every year. :D VFAT First Thread VFAT Livestream VFAT Forum But it is your choise how far you want to go ofcourse ;)
