  1. btw : how long does it normally take for EAC to align ? When I do ramp start it takes like 15 minutes to align - the EAC light then switches off and I'm able to use autopilot. Is that normal ? When I start from runway its all ready. So should I wait and don't even taxi to runway until the EAC is not ready ? Im not sure about this.
  2. you need to shoot it from behind. i killed lots of tanks with gau-8 but if the fire is not hitting the tank from behind then its a waste of ammo - check your approach with tgp.
  3. hey, I just noticed that in 1.1.0.8 jtacs sometimes still give me incomplete coords (5 digits instead of 6) ... so is that a bug or is it intended to be this way ?
  4. thanks oh, I didnt realize that, thanks So it means that if the jtac unit is ELPRS capable that we should be able to receive the data even when we're not in the same grp?
  5. so is there a way to find out in which grp the selected unit (in misson editor or mission planer) is ? i mean i usualy play random cas missions which i edit in ME to create a predator drone jtac over the battlefield but I never got the datalink working in such missions cause i never know in which grp the drone is.
  6. good question. Also I'd like to know how can I set grp and id for a selected unit in mission editor. or is that automatic ?
  7. thats great news, thanks a lot m8 it seems that my approach with the transparent texture doesnt work anyway. I created the alfa channel in the 32 bit tga, converted it into dds, verified that the dds contains the alfa channel but the game seems to ignore it, so i dont know. anyway, thanks again
  8. Okay, I found out that the stick texture is loaded from file "A-10C_elements_01.dds" in archive "DCS A-10C\Bazar\A-10C\Model\Textures\A_10C_C_EDM_TEX.zip". I managed to convert it to tga, repaint that stick part of that texture file to black and convert it back to dds and copy it into the game. But the stick is then just black. Any ideas how to make that texture transparent ? I thought it would take black as transparent but it doesnt. But still, making that texture transparent seems to me as the easiest way to get rid of the stick. Any ideas anyone ? I will upload the file if i manage to make it work so anyone who wants can use it.
  9. yeah, thats the same mod I've been using until the latest patch, doesnt work anymore i was just thinking if theres any other way to do that perhaps ? like edit some file or something to delete the stick completely, i dont need it there at all.
  10. how to hide the stick hey, is there a way to hide the stick somehow ? i dont have track ir so i cant see the HSI very well when the stick is there. I was using this mod in 1.1.0.7 http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/38408/ but in latest patch it doesnt work anymore. Any ideas ?
  11. My longest connection time was about 2 seconds so far :-) I just can't get it stable enough or can't match the tankers speed (always going a little too fast or a little too slow). So far I did about 15-20 attempts and usually I run out of fuel and emergency land on some road or crash into the tanker. Are there any tips on how to better control the aircraft during refueling or is it really just practice practice practice ? It usually goes well during approach and everything is stable and smooth until I'm just about to connect, then it starts swinging from side to side and just can't stabilize it. Is that caused by the tankers engines maybe ?
  12. I think you have to first fly into the area, check in with the JTAC, tell him what armament you have and for how long you will be available for tasking and then he will give you targets when he has some work for you. You don't have to check in again and again to get more targets. If he says stand by, then just stand by, he will get back to you soon. It works this way for me. PS : dont change radio frequencies or you wont be able to hear him if he calls you with some tasking.
  13. oh, okay, thanks for info
  14. hey, in bs there were 3 mouse modes - moving head (no cursor), static view + clickable cockpit, and moving head with clickable cockpit. It seems that in A10C the last mode is missing, is that correct or did I miss some button that enables it ?
  15. Hi, I was just wondering if there is any mod or something that I could download to translate that original russian voices into english in bs campaigns. I understand that its trying to be authentic but I dont understand russian at all and it's very annoying that I have to read everything. Sometimes I even miss some message and I'm lost. Any ideas? PS: I have a steam version.
  16. UHF radio is MIC SWITCH DOWN (check your hotas settings) - i dont know which key is that since I reconfigured all default key mappings to fit my stick and throttle.
  17. There are 3 radios - VHF AM, VHF FM and UHF, flight is usually on UHF so use that one. It should be specified in briefing which one to use to call your wingman. you can check the manual - pages 137,139 and 141
  18. Then maybe youre not calling him with the right radio - you got 3 of them in A10. Maybe one of them is on a correct frequency (so you can hear him) but youre trying to call him with a different one (set to other frequency - like JTAC or ATC) so hes not responding. Make sure youre using the correct one to call him.
  19. Are you on a correct frequency and using correct radio ? My wingmans respond normally. Frequencies are always specified in briefing.
  20. why ? I was just wondering if it's really like that in a real life situation. Do real JTACs really communicate with pilots in such unclear way ? Why ? Wouldn't it be easier if JTAC just gave the pilot the whole unmistakable coordinates (with no digits missing or anything) ? Just curious if there's any reason for this.
  21. oh, okay, thanks
  22. Im having this problem with my wingman (set at excellent skill): I created my own mission and I put some SAMs and AAA in the target area. Naturally I want to get rid of SAMs first so I locate 2 of them, send wingman to destroy the first one with mavricks, while I get the second one. So far okay, but the trouble is that my wingman always gets shot down. I am able to lock and fire the mavrick on that target from distance of about 7 nm and then clear back to find more targets with ease but my wingman, as soon as I give him the command to engage air defences at my spi with mavricks, goes right at them and doesn't shoot the missile until he's almost on top of them. Then he gets shot down by the other SAMs in the area of course. I also tried just to wait for his message "missile away" and the call him back to formation asap but its always too late. He just gets too close. So far I always had to destroy all the SAMs myself while wingman was just folowing me in formation and then let him attack other targets like AAAs and tanks withs mavs. Am I doing something wrong ? Is there a way to tell wingman not to get so close ? edit > im running the 1.1.0.7 version and I watched wagmatts recent video about wingmen command but no luck so far.
  23. Is there a way to set the GRP and OWN for each unit in the editor ? For example if I want to have 2 JTACs in a mission and first to be in GRP 1 and second in GRP 2 ? btw thanks again. i think i know what the problem was - I was a second flight therefore by default I was GRP 2 for sure and JTAC was GRP 1. (I guess - I will see tonight how it works) update : no, it doesnt work either. I think the problem is that I created "fast mission" using mission generator, which created a battlefield for me with lots of friendly and enemy units. Then I manually created a predator JTACs and 2 client A10s (for me and my buddy). I think that since there already were lots of units created by the generator, the predator got assigned some GRP like 23 or something so setting myself to GRP 01 wont do any good. I think I need to set his GRP and OWN in the editor manually and it will be ok. Trouble is that I'm not sure how. Or I need to find out in which GRP the predator is. Im not sure how to do that either.
  24. Yup. But the procedure is not my problem. He even says "wait for data" or something like that (after I did the readback) and I should get the new msg from him but I dont get it. Thanks. That might be the cause of problem now when I think of it. I will verify that the networks are set correctly. I think that's the thing I forgot to set up in the editor. Yeah I noticed that as well. If it's not all done by the book he just doesn't speak to me anymore even when I request new target - nothing. Not a word until I respwn. Anyway, thanks all for suggestions.
  25. Hey, I created a fast mission for me and my buddy with the predator JTAC. It works well. I set the waypoint command on last waypoint to switch back to waypoint 1 and he makes nice loops around the battlefield and sends us target information. On last waypoint he always announces RTB but he never actually does - he switches back to WP1 and continues his bussiness. So far okay. But why this JTAC doesn't send us the target information via datalink ? I never received any msg from him. It's not a big deal - I can type in those coords manually but I was just wondering if its possible to make him use the datalink. Any ideas ?
