Tell me what you think after you've tried it :). (BTW, I had to think about what you meant by "inks", but then it dawned on me :D )

Operation Vertical Limit - Coop 4 & SP
Ptroinks replied to jeffyd123's topic in User Created Missions General
People, do you actually know what "antisocial" means :D? I certainly hope we don't have a lot of antisocial people here ;). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisocial_personality_disorder -
Damn! I don't know what I did there, but I'll fix it! Edit: There! All should be well now! Can't believe I missed that...
-
I did, but it was fun :). I hope lots of people try it and give me feedback on it!

This is the first mission I'm "publishing" here, so don't be too harsh! This isn't an attempt at creating a realistic mission, just a SEAD/base attack mission. I've made a single player version with three wingmen, and a multiplayer version for 4 players. In a way, it resembles the "In the Weeds" mission because terrain masking is essential, but here, you're going to take out an SA-11 site and an enemy base. I'm not sure if I made it too hard, but it's absolutely doable, and I think it might be fun to fly MP. For the single player mission, I reccomend that the player anchors the flight before you enter the "danger zone", so you can take out the SA-11 (and some other stuff) first. Hope you like it (especially those of you who like SAM hunting :) ), and all comments are welcome! EDIT: SP mission fixed! Hornet's Nest MP4.miz Hornet's Nest SP.miz

New pilot! Question while waiting for my Hotas!
Ptroinks replied to fiveohmike's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
That's a good advise! IMHO, three things are needed to get the full enjoyment of this sim: A good HOTAS, TrackIR and rudder pedals! -
New pilot! Question while waiting for my Hotas!
Ptroinks replied to fiveohmike's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Welcome to the forums! I wouldn't try flying if I didn't have a joystick with a throttle. You could try, but I suspect that it'll only be frustrating. It will also mean learning a LOT of keyboard commands that you won't need when you get your HOTAS. If I was you, I would start reading the manual and familiarizing myself with the theory behind the different systems of the A-10. That's time well spent! -
Are you talking about the mouse cursor or the gun cross/CCIP pipper on the HUD?
-
That's because the EAC isn't enabled until the nav system is up and running.
-
A quick google search tells me that it has a frag radius of 200ft., so I guess the Mk-82s in DCS are realistic, given that google isn't exactly a scientific search tool :). I would just place my friendly troops farther away and test some more...
-
I didn't have a HOTAS when I first started flying the A-10, and with the amount of systems and commands that you will have to learn to properly fly this thing, I can tell you from personal experience that getting a good HOTAS is an investment you will not regret! Learning to fly the A-10 will be A LOT easier, and you won't have to memorise that many keyboard commands. Personally, I use the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. It's a bit expensive, but I'm far from sorry for getting one. Another piece of hardware that is a must-have with this sim, is TrackIR. After I got those two things, I can't imagine flying this sim without them.

I just thought of something that I think would be nice to have in DCS: Secondary objectives! That is, objectives that will give the player points for doing, but doesn't have to be accomplished to complete the mission. It would be nice to complete a mission, and see in the debriefing that those targets of opportunity that you engaged were of some importance, and destroying them was "noticed" in a way.

ÖÜÄß- Will they ever work?
Ptroinks replied to asparagin's topic in Forum and Site Issues
LMAO! This thread gave me a laugh! -
For some reason, my NUM4, NUM5 and NUM6 keys weren't assigned to anything, but everything works OK after reassigning them to the correct view commands. Thanks for your help, guys!

By the way, I noticed (after I took control of your aircraft in the track) that your fuel switches were set to "override". They are supposed to be set to "norm". Try using WarriorX's cold start checklist. You can find it here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=61044

You are starting to taxi before your navigation system has aligned itself, and I guess that's why the EGI is shown as degraded. You can see on the track that the alignment stops at T=2.8.3.2 on the CDU. You must wait until it reaches T=4.0.0.8 and you can see "INS NAV RDY" flashing on the CDU. Then, click the NAV OSB on your MFCD. Now, you'll also see on the stat page that EGI is shown as "valid". The reason your targeting pod doesn't switch on, is that you haven't got a targeting pod on your aircraft :). You need to load one on the loadout screen along with your other weapons.

All my NUM keys are working. What commands should NUM4, NUM8, NUM6 and NUM2 be mapped to in my settings?
-
RCTL+NUM0 is set to "Cockpit panel vew toggle".
-
Nothing happens when I just press NUM4. I've tried what Wartski said (RCTL+NUM0, then NUM4). After pressing RCTL+NUM0, I see this, and pressing NUM4 after, doesn't change the picture: RCTL+NUM0, then NUM8, gives me this: RCTL+NUM0, then NUM6, gives me the same result as the first screenshot, and finally, RCTL+NUM0, then NUM2, shows me this: Something is wrong here...
-
No, that didn't work either... I checked my settings, and RCTL+NUM0 is set to "Cockpit panel vew toggle". I didn't find any assignments to NUM4, however...
-
That doesn't work for me. Have I got this right? I'm pressing RCTL+NUM0 simultainously, releasing them, and then immediately pressing NUM4.
-
Good to hear that the TGP is being worked on! That's a big relief! Really looking forward to that. @Sinky: I don't understand how we're supposed to use CCD to search for targets. When I select CCD, everything is just plain grey. I can barely make out a city from other scenery with it, so it's useless to me. BHOT or WHOT works, except for the known issues.
-
I don't think you can even compare them! The WH is waaay out of the X52s league!
-
Good point! I took an SA-11 hit (the one time an SA-11 didn't blow me out of the sky :) ), and although my aircraft was damaged, I didn't lose any systems and was able to continue with my mission.
