  1. Make sure the stick is on a completely level surface when you calibrate it. If it's tilted a little bit in any direction, it will screw up the calibration (something I read at another forum).
  2. I don't know how many :doh:s I should put in this post to accurately show how I feel right now. Of course it's the "trap" check box! UNchecking the "trap" box solved all the issues! Thanks, WarriorX! At first, I thought you meant that having the box checked should solve the issue (don't ask me how I managed to interpret it that way).:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:
  3. I guess I can say that I will be like you, Succellus :). I hate hearing about recurring problems with something that I want to buy, but I still have to buy it. It may be a gamble, and I may live to regret it, but the Hog HOTAS is so cool that I have to at least try...
  4. It's already set to "trap"... I've tried checking/unchecking all the boxes (on all the commands). Nothing works, except when unchecking the "enable" box :).
  5. ...I was thinking about getting a HOTAS Warthog, but after all the problems people have with it, I'm not so sure anymore. Saitek sticks definately have their faults, but I've never heard about anything like this (except the Cougar...).
  6. I read about running TrackIR as administrator, and for me that doesn't help. I have the latest drivers (didn't find any newer drivers than 5.1), and I'm using keys that are not used in the game. And if I map a key to a TrackIR command, that key can't be used for anything else in windows! I just mapped the keys 4, 5 and 6 on the keypad to TrackIR commands, and now, nothing happens if I press those keys (I have to use the "regular" number keys). This is strange... edit: I'm also running my profile as exclusive...
  7. I have exactly the same problem! Can't use F7, F9 or F12 when I'm using TrackIR. I've got a custom TrackIR profile as well (remapping those key commands). The only time it goes away, is if I shut down the TrackIR software... I hope there's a fix for this somewhere...
  8. :D! Well, as long as I can maneuver smoothly AND use the buttons at the same time, I'm satisfied! The X65 costs about as much as a Hog here (not a real hog, mind you...) , so the money isn't an issue. Thanks a lot for your help!
  9. LOL! I know exactly what you mean!!! The Saitek buttons are far too easy to push, and "accidental discharges" happen very easily! Well, it didn't take many replies to convince me to buy the HOTAS Warthog :). Off to the webshops...
  10. Yes, it is a very precise stick, I must agree on that. One of my problems is that whenever I have to use my right thumb to push a button or hat switch, I can't maneuver because I lose "pressure" on that side of the stick. If only Saitek had made the X65 with a "regular" moving stick... That would be a VERY good product... Edit: Oh, I didn't realize there was an input-output forum here. Sorry for that...
  11. Ahh, that's very good news! I guess I'll order one :). I have to order something else, anyway. The X-65 is useless, except for the throttle...
  12. You have a custom seat?
  13. After using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro (what a name...) and keyboard commands to fly my A-10 for a couple of weeks, I decided to get TrackIR and a HOTAS. The TrackIR is fantastic, but takes some getting used to. The HOTAS I ended up with, was the Saitek X-65F. I was very sceptical about a stick that doesn't move, but I gave it a shot. I haven't used it very long, but I just can't manage to fly and fight properly with it. I've tweaked force settings, deadzones and curves, but for me, maneuvering my A-10 and fighting at the same time just doesn't work with this stick, so I'm going to send it back. But what about my alternativees? There's the HOTAS Warthog, of course, but I could really use some advice from HOTAS Warthog owners. It does look very, very big to be used on a desktop. If I was building a home pit, I would buy it, no question about it! But as I have to put it on a desk, I'm mainly thinking about the height of the stick. Would you consider it as mainly a "home pit stick" or something that's easy to use on a desktop? The other choice would be the X-52 Pro. For those of you who use it, could you provide me with a few pros and cons (that goes for Warthog users, as well :) )? I had an X-45 a couple of years ago, and generally, I liked it (except for the base plate friction, which made smooth, small stick inputs very hard after a while). I'll admit that I'm very picky when it comes to choosing joysticks, and maybe I'll never be satisfied, but right now, I just feel like I need some help deciding what to get...
  14. The "wall of migs" bug was a classic :). Ahh... memories...
  15. Falcon 800! DCS: A-10, as we all know, has this random failure "feature", so why don't they add this failure: When in pre-contact position and asking for fuel, the tanker replies "Falcon 137!", and cuts all communication :).
  16. I would also like to have the ability to move these vehicles, but it seems it's not possible. Yet, that is! Maybe ED can do something about it...
  17. I'm hoping for an F/A-18! I guess Wags would be a great resource for ED if that would be the case :).
  18. I did that too ! Can't say I was very proud...
  19. Oh! Thanks! It didn't show up when I searched the forums.
  20. I'm using your method already, and have found lots of answers :), but I just think having a list of the issues and bugs ED knows about and are working on, would make those bugs less frustrating to us (knowing that ED is looking into it).
  21. Believe me, those limitations are hampering away! I'm going to order two items for my computer this week: TrackIR and either a HOTAS Warthog or an X65F. Haven't decided yet. I can't believe I'm even trying to fly this sim without a HOTAS (using a Logitech Extreme 3D pro and rudder pedals).
  22. If I'm flying a mission and my TGP gets hit, my IR mavericks are pretty much useless to me. Unless I know EXACTLY where to look, finding a tank with the Mav seeker is next to impossible. It depends a lot on what sort of ground texture the tank is on, but if it's not in the middle of a field or something, I can't find it... ED could at least make the contrast between ground textures and vehicles\units a little higher, as a temporary fix.
  23. Couldn't agree more!!! I hope ED is reading this thread! I don't know what the code in this game is like, but it would appear that there is some kind of "random failure generator" that could (possibly) easily be turned off completely, or made into an option to turn on or off.
  24. Yeah, I've already decided to get TrackIR. Situational awareness is non-existent without it. But when they have a padlock feature in the game, I'm just wondering how it's supposed to work. Seems pretty useless to me.
  25. Having serious problems with my situational awareness, I thought I'd start using the padlock functions in the game, but although the keyboard commands work, padlocking is totally useless. I'm trying to use the "lock terrain" view. I was expecting it to work like in Falcon. You look at the ground, and the point on the terrain that's in the center of your view, gets locked. In A-10, it seems to lock on to random ground positions (within view), making it useless. If I want to lock the view to a road where there are some tanks, I center my view on that road and press the padlock key, but then it will lock on to some ground coordinate way up\down\left\right of where I want it to, so when I turn around for another attack, my view is nowhere near the enemy tanks... Am I just doing this wrong, or is the padlock function bugged?
