  1. Uhm, i dont think, ramdisk will speed up your lomac on a laptop. I even use a laptop to play and try everything to speed it up. The biggest bottleneck is the harddrive. 2,5''-HDs are slower than the 3,5. If use a ramdisk, win still writes data to the pagefile. Some users tell me, that a ramdrive can slow down your system a little bit on playing games cause the used ram isnt free for the big textures and other datas from the game. Keep ur hd defragmented, defrag ur registry to, that speed up ur system a little bit. Use newest graphic-drivers (there r some special-drivers for laptops with more features as the one from the manufacturer of ur laptop) For the time in-game turn off ur virus-scanner. Often the scanner searches every file for virus and the access slows down. But the best is, to set the effects to minimum, i think.

Welcome to the Avalon of Fr3@ks ;) Damn, i spend so mich time for this little game, my girlfriend hate it cause i spend more time to fly then to cuddle with her ;) I think, the most of the pilots in the squads are little freaks, everyday online and as much in the air as possible. But that keeps this community alive, yeah ;)
  3. my first match against a non-jabog was the funny match vs. basscadet (do u remember bro? first the problems with the connect, than the short rounds, hehe) i hope, i can fly more against some of the other good pilots from the s77th, 169th or the 504. greetz from good old germany JaBoG32_Viper
  4. Uhm...if the render-engine has to work such a big plane in high-detail, it slows down extremly. If it cuts in smaller single parts, only the visible parts, the rendertimes will go down and the frames goes up. Look at the map, how much land is there and how much water can u see? Just about 50% of the complete map is water, maybe less than that. If the other 50% will cut out of the water map, it will be a big jump on the whole power. But only the ED's can tell more about the way how they did it and if it's possibe what i say. Im just a 3D-modeler, workin' on One-Shot-Models (Picture-Rendering) or sometimes on longer animations for my customers. I cant say which ways the game-designer use and what kind of restrictions they have. Should be interesting to talk with someone of them 'bout that, i never finish learning ;)
  5. Aldega, on ur screenie i only see one big water-plane ;) I dont mean the polygons of the water, i mean the water itself. It's like layering one pic over another, the water is modeled as one big rectangle, of course with more than one poly. Sometimes it is possible to move the cam in-game below the ground, try it and u see what i mean. I think, i should post a 3d-screenie to show what i mean. Doing it later if u want
  6. Btw. why is the water modeled all over the terrain? (a plane over the entire terrain, but only visible on lower parts) Seems, that single planes only on that parts, which really needs the water, may increase overall game-speed cause the renderer doesnt have to render only the really visible parts of the water. I model much times scenes with water (3d max) and i never use a plane, that is as great as the entire ground-plane. By the hell, if i doing it like your way, my rendering-times will explode to a thousand times. Cut the water into needed parts, it will boost up the entire game! More frames=more power=more effects can be used. Simple, isnt it? ;)

By the hell, it's summer boys.....all went out, spend their holiday outside of the dark and stinking houses :icon_oak: Uhm, all but not me, i have to work...grr...workin on my new 3d-model, admin my new server, spending time with my three kids (and yes, somtimes i go out with them :rolleyes: ) and so on. Damn, why i'm inside during all the others are outside? :confused: Cya later, have to pick my Laptop and then i run outside as fast as i can :icon_jook
  9. Well Rossi, u need huge money, knowledge and a very good crew to realize it. At first u need a very concrete idea, 'cause all bases on that. What kind should the sim be? More realistic as all the others? So u have to look out for guys who knows more 'bout the planes and all the other stuff that moves around. U need very exactly datas 'bout the planes, the tanks, the missiles and so on. Than u have to find good modeler. They are very expensiv man, hell i know that, thinking off what my customer pay for my models ;) Huge maps to model with thousands of objects, the sky, the water. Physics like pieces bumping on the ground on a hit or explosion. Biggest and most difficulty thing is imho the AFM, most of the sims doesnt have a really good afm. Hell, there are so many things to think on that i get a headache ;) But if u really wanna make it real, go on! No matter which stones on your way, what the others say or how difficult it would be....just do it! No try, no success...
  10. I think, all the free modeling-progs haven't enough possibilities to modeling really good. I used blender long time ago and i was surprised as i start to work with max and maya. It takes less times to do excactly the same as in blender and look much better. Much more ways of modeling (Nurbs, Box-modeling, Spline-caged) and more and better plugins like compound-plugs, modeling-tools and so on. If someone really wanna model in a serious way commercial products are the only way to make nearly all possible. Don't believe me? Than just try a model like that in Blender ;) Here the model:
  11. Changing payload on Airport will be an interesting thing, so the player can fly more tasks and not only one. I think, payload-change should only work if the plane is on apron and engines off. I dont know if this possible. AWACS-Support for ground-targets can be a second interesting thing. I dont know if this works in reallife and in which way, but i think something like that exist in RL. Enhanced sounds like the zzzspace-soundpacks should be implemented ( i made this for fc by hand) cause they sound really great and realistic. And everytime again i hope, that the F15 gets some upgrades (afm, model, maybe an strike-eagle)

I still fly the Hog, but on SEAD i use the Frog, i love it's big loadout and the effectivity of their weapons. was hard work to get this fat lady up to the air first time ( i think i crashed the su more on first flight as every other plane before ;) ) On close ground-attacks i still prefer the a10, the hog doesnt curve like a big bus (as the su does) Uhm...call me a Hog-Frog ;) Both are great ;)

  15. I made a A10-Model times ago (not for the Game...too much Polys for that ;) ) and now I work on a Tornado-Model. There`s a little question 'bout the way to save final models. I heard that files have to be save in 3ds Max 3.1-Files, others say 3.1 and up...so i'm a little confused 'bout that. I work with 3d Max 6, so have i do a backward-converting or is 6 ok? Btw. i search for other modeler for experience-exchange and maybe work together on new ideas and models.
