Love Calvin & Hobbes
-
Edit: already addressed, sorta

A more elaborate explanation could have been given sooner to avoid all this. At this point Wags we are all just guessing until you tell us something... ie "We would like BS2 on steam however at this point there are a few obstacles preventing such a release" would have done it succinctly for me. Thanks.
-
Probably hazard a guess it will be a non-steam compatibility patch. Would love to keep it in steam though.

Yeah I bought LOMAC back in the day after playing Flanker 2.0/2.5 which was tone of fun, waited for the FC1.1/1.2/2.0 to pass by and instead got BS being on steam. I like supporting the devs (ED do good sims after all) just getting a bit miffed over the years by the nickel & dime updatepatches thing every time. That's ok I just pick what I want after the dust settles - not usually an early adopter anyhow. I will and have had no problems paying for good releases - not sure if they have thought the DCS release all the way through I don't understand the steam release then shank us for it later. I'm sure they'll figure something out.....

Yeah really ticked off about that too. Got into it because of steam. Definitely holding off buying any other products (was eyeing off A-10c too dammit) if we are just going to be left swinging. Reconsider ED. That is all.

I was in this situation a few years ago and was given this advice: you must be able to control the aircraft first - Pilotasso circa 2005. In my case upgraded to x52 from a crappy j/s & throttle (+keyboard) very happy I did. TIR is still on the wishlist but happy just being able control the aircraft better than I could before If you are happy with your current stick then get the TIR If you aren't then the choice just got simple.

I run at 1280x1024 LCD with a 6600GT no AA or AF and get about 20-40 fps depending on surroundings

From what I understand they thought about it years ago, but it wasn't up to our conditions - ie range as the EF was more of an interceptor at that stage -

Only if the billboards had an "All your base are belong to us!" :D

Yeah I have zoom mapped to the slider on my x52 - just have to give it a slight nudge one way or another - it's unfortunate but that's saitek

Is it possible to fly faster than a bullet?

I think Chuck Yeager in one of his books talked about a guy in an F-86 who shredded his own plane. Correct me if I'm wrong -
As far as I can gather the Z means nothing it's the number that makes the difference. Falcon127 'hopefully' you may have an offset deadzone which means a replacement stick, if still under warranty. Meantime just hope something goes horribly wrong so you can exchange it for a new one. The serials are now in the sz00300000 range now. Mine works great no slop, but the x52 does have a longer throw than most sticks.

LOL :) No, she is absolutely stunning and THE nicest person I have met in my life, looks after me really well, no complaints. Doesn't really like computers but lets me upgrade when I need to, so she doesn't mind me playing sims just doesn't understand them. As long as solitare is on the pc everybody's happy.

Thanks but will have to pass I'm afraid international shipping & payment is a bit of a pain considering that I'm from Australia & I tend to stay away from credit cards for the time being. I'm limited to one new piece of hardware if I absolutely must according to the wife-to-be (10 weeks and counting down) one false move and....:icon_evil  :icon_hang. Might be able to get away with an X52 seeing as they are becoming cheaper here and have found a place that only ships the new firmware versions :icon_keel

Yep I agree with that entirely. TIR would be great but my stick whilst quite adequate is beginning to show its age, spiking and the hat is becomming 'selective' ( ooh my inputs are not good enough for you, kinda thing ;)). Just comes down to if the stick was just marginally more reliable I would get TIR in a heartbeat. Thanks so much for the tips & pointers people

Thanks lots for the info, probably best to go with a new stick as the old one is getting a bit tired :D and a proper hotas will most likely be more useful in the long run. cake first then the icing. Thanks again

Just trying to get an idea what stuff is the more important for an upgrade. Currrently I have 8 buttons and 3 axes which is fine for IL-2, you don't need heaps of buttons really so TIR would be the go. However LOMAC has so many more functions that might require a HOTAS system. Want to know if I'm close to the mark here for most flyers here. Is TIR better purchased much later after you get a HOTAS? Curious as to what people value more who have been in sims for much longer than I have - which is the better piece of gear to purchase. Don't need anyone to convince me one way or another, just good honest opinions what works for them. Thanks so far for the input

Sort of at a cross road for hardware at the moment, I have a thrustmaster afterburner 2 with throttle that works quite well. I am trying to decide between getting an x52 ) or TIR3pro (possibly with vector). That's about the limit the buget extends to so far $200 - 250 AUD). Would appreciate informed opinions. thanks

Deep breath...and relax. Constructive criticism is people giving positive feedback to improve the final product. No harm, no foul. This is a _good_ thing :) Negative feedback everyone can do without. -
