Hello Guys, A Ranger79 mission this time, the second one in the Operation Northern Plunder campaign work in progress. Warning! DCS crashes part way through and I will need to complete this video at a later stage. Using force correlate mode to launch AGM-65H's at a SA-11 BUK search/tracking radar set. Redfish

Hello Guys, Quick question, to run a multi-player server, does the client machine have to install all dcs modules or only just DCS World? Also on the wiki http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Dedicated_Server : - how relevant is "maxfps = 30;" and "render3D = false;" are these valid suggestions still? Thanks Redfish

Hey Guys, One of my favourite missions -- FOB Vetka created by deephouse aka joyride, where you get to enjoy flying the A-10C with your head out of the cockpit. No stuffing around with the TGP, just you, some rockets, dumb bombs, a killer gun and multiple targets. What more can a man ask for? Redfish

Hey Guys, A new video on how I use the A-10C CDU to create a flight plan which is comprised of multiple mark points. Then I employ six mavericks using the new flight plan to shoot down multiple bad guys. I like the simplicity as this allows me to use standoff distances and seek targets of opportunity with the targeting pod and then be able to incorporate these marks into a custom flight plan made up of just mark points/targets. The simplicity comes with then being able to employ any weapon system (mavs, jdam's, dumb bombs, laser bombs .... whatever) and a lot of my work load has been completed by prior planning. I then can concentrate just on the maverick run / bomb run /gun run/ whatever. I find it easier to then transition to other phases of the fight -- egress / evasion / recovery or reacquire. The second part of the video is a rough single ship approach to an initial and pitch (overhead break) into the landing pattern for Tbilisi-Lochini. CDU Pros: CDU flight plan can be made from multiple sources: other flight SPLI's, mark points, Z-Marks, GPS co-ords, MGRS co-cords etc. Once a flight plan has been created, you have a list in the CDU of all marks, red triangles, other SPI targets that can be recalled at will. Cycling between mark points is simple and natural as cycling between steerpoints. Skill level required -- none, any monkey can create a flight plan in the CDU. CDU Cons: Time constraints are necessary to create one -- if you have to hit a time on target at a specific time, your work load increases and so does the anxiety. Some people will find the CDU difficult. Summary: This isn't the be all and end all of target prosecution. I find it an easy to do function and a methodical approach that increases my airmanship. Hello Gentlemen, Flying with Matt in the Mustang. I've been sharing internet with about three other users in the household and ended up with a 1000ms+ ping time to the AEF server. Yes that's right. My ping in this video is upwards of 1000ms...... It is flyable when you are flying formation, you are one dropped packet away from team killing each other. I remember flying with BlackMajic when he would have 800ms ping times and as long as he wasn't too close to us we could fly in any missions, even AAR.You will get stuttering. You will get dropped packets I guess this is displayed as lagging - UDP packets and all. So my belief is that high ping times are manageable. Anyway something for the guys who like the "Stang" and something to think about with high pings times. 350ms is a high ping. Pfffftttt....... Now this is a high ping.

Hello Gentlemen, With my SSD and Windows7 debacle over, I finally blew the moths outta my wallet and got rid of my old AMD HD5770 Flex edition GPU and went to go to the dark side and purchased a Nvidia MSI GTX780. What a difference it makes to DCS World. So much for being an AMD fanboi. I'm impressed as this was a big step to go from a 15-20fps card, to one that does 30+ / 60+ fps with everything on HIGH settings in DCS World. I still get the odd smoke lag. I hope EDGE removes this limitation. I also think this might be because of my PCI 2.0 interconnect limitations as well. Next on the list is a mobo and new generation CPU, well if the wife lets me. First impressions, damn this is great. High detail, no lag *smoke dependent* Trying to be methodical and test different scenarios – different resolutions and different graphics settings, so I can make an informed decision on DCS World testing and a GTX870. But instead I have a grin on my face from ear to ear about how good DCS World is with a decent video card..... Isn’t it amazing how quickly you revert back to childhood and the memories come flooding back of the time when joy was the most prevalent emotion..... like when you could first ride a bike without falling off or you Santa finally got it right and gave me a bike or the sublime feeling you get when...... Oh yes, there’s a video here of the Operation Save Badger Campaign - Day Four. Modded the custom snap views and I have PeterP’s anti-Linda Blair mod.

Hey Guys, Had an SSD incident a couple of days ago and spent the weekend reloading windows 7 and installing everything. That's fun. Thank goodness for backups. It also gave me a chance to go through a few drives and decide what I want to keep and what can be erased. Found some old footage from a month or two, of the dragons mission - the bunny escort one - part one.

Great work Derbseiger, Looked very steady. -
It's good to have Huey's in the mission as they are an excellent bullet magnet showing direction of the incoming fires.

Yes please to a whitelist. I logged a Ticket #23678 about it last month and was notified that "Editing is temporarily disabled on the wiki due to a flood of spambots" The idea of a whitelist is a good, if this could be implemented on the cheap, I'm all for it. Redfish -
Hi Guys, Today I am flying the DCS Warthog A-10C in the Dragons Rookie Terrorists mission with a few guests in the AEF 161 Squadron server. This video is one of my favourite missions when I first got the addiction that is DCS A-10C. It was the first time I felt confident with employing the weapon systems and the aircraft. I felt like I wasn't fighting the aircraft and all the things I had read from the 500+ pages Flight Manual, started to gel and come together. It was also when my daughter was born and what little time I had to myself between catching up on sleep, changing nappies (diapers for you non-aussies) and drool, was sneaking in an hour here and there in the virtual skies. Wife also liked I wasn't at the pub and was close by to help with the nappie brigade. I am joined by a few new guys and Blackmajic and we have a couple of hours to blast away at the screen. For those that don't know, the dragons mission packs come in two flavours -- a training pack and a mission pack. The training pack has ... well training missions -- free flight -- practice night missions, stuff like that. The mission pack has... missions where you can shoot things and they will shoot back. Even though the mission was created back in April 2011, you will still see many multiplayer servers around the planet with a dragons mission on rotation. My own squadron will put one up often as they are great missions that people enjoy and there always seems to be someone in the server when a Dragons mission is active. Kudos to '=STP= Dragon' who created, what I believe is the: most played, most cursed, most installed, most active missions in DCS. The ED Forums mission pack thread alone has 312 replies and over 50,000+ views, as of 15/05/2013 09:47am AEST. Not many threads on ED forums have those kind of numbers and aren't a magnet for negative criticism. Usually these numbers are attached to whining about how the F35 is stoopid or when is the F/A-18C is coming etc. I've added the Eagle Dynamics forum links for the Dragons Mission Pack and the Dragons Training Pack below: Dragons Mission Pack http://forums.eagle.ru/show... Dragons Training Pack http://forums.eagle.ru/show... Download Link Mission Pack http://www.spare-time-pilot... Download Link Training Pack http://www.spare-time-pilot... Thanks to Ajax, Blackmajic, Fishfry & Kroy Enjoy! R3dfush

Hello Gentlemen, Operation Jackal Day One is the first in a series of six mini missions by Quirkitized. The campaign is 24mb in size total -- lots of voice files. This campaign is a conversion of an earlier Ka-50 campaign that Quirkitized created and is now designed for the A-10C airframe. In this mission, Panthro has converted Day One from a two ship mission to a three ship mission, I think? Your mission is to provide support and assist ground forces call sign UZI in retrieving documents from Jackal's house. The A-10's role is to secure the area so Uzi can search the premises. MANPADS have been identified in the AO so it is suggested to maintain a safe altitude block. You can fly the mission either at medium altitudes 16,000ft or low 5000ft and keep lateral distance from the IGLAS and other anti air assets. We've gone with the medium altitude approach - 16,000ft and climbing. The links below will take you to the DCS and ED Forums sites where more information and reviews of the mission can be examined/reviewed by other pilots. A-10C Advanced CCIP bombing tutorial
redfish replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in Screenshots and Videos
You sure on those temps input into the CDU? You put 26 for temps for all of the altitude blocks? Isn't the OAT fluctuating between +1 and -3 degrees and isn't that input into the LASTE as you pass the relevant altitude? IIRC, it's approximately a decrease of 1.98 degrees C every 1000ft or so in altitude. Ground level would have a temp of 26 degrees C 9000 ft wouldn't have a temp of 26 degrees C 24,000 ft wouldn't have a temp of 26 degrees C 26 doesn't sound right. Would you just make a note of the temps as you climb climb to altitude. -
Operation Save Badger Day Three Flying the third mission in the Operation Save Badger mini campaign. It's raining in the mission and that just means longer braking distances when landing and lower visibility in general. Great thing about weather is you just fly high enough and you can get above it and see the sun or the moon.

Take On Mars Review Hello Gentlemen, Just got Take On Mars by Bohemia Interactive, the early edition is available for download on steam. Downloaded it, installed it and double clicked on play. Straight to the options menu and run in windowed mode and then changed my mind and put it back to full screen mode. The first screen that greets you is the Take On Mars menu with the usual game options and a spinning depiction of planet Mars. You can hold down the LMB and spin the planet around and see cool sounding names like - Syrtis Major and Elysium Planitia. A few clicks and the initial tutorial loads up. Clicked on Real World Time and eventually I make my way to the Lab and Construction Building. Found myself pressing the 'Test Vehicle' panel & see the lander. I see different views and instruments, You see (not manipulate) the outside world. My first test ship wobbled like crazy and the wide angle and telephoto view quality, looked like they had purchased the same cameras used in the Blair Witch project. Maybe it's an early alpha thing? I think Bohemia are simulating the quality of video/pictures sent from Mars back to Earth -- lossy and crap. Like any man on the planet who has never read an instruction manual since making 1/32 Airfix models, I end up pressing every single key to see what screens pop up. Oooh... aaarghhh... what does that do... oohhh.... Esc key goes to Main Menu. Yawn and fast forwarded to the Launch vehicle 13mins 39secs. Look around the crater for about six or seven minutes and then stumble on the list of tasks required to be completed in this particular mission. After pressing every key again, q,w,e,r,t,y,,,,,. I find myself at the Capture Gas stage. oooh... aarghhhh.... Click on Capture Gas. Yay! DO NOT MOVE INSTRUMENT in flashing red text. First you capture the gas, then you analyse gas. (Insert Fart Joke) This is one of the Major Tasks completed at the initial first assignment Victoria Crater. Your initial foray in the Victoria Crater teaches you Mars atmospheric pressure differences compared to Earth and also the composition percentages of CO2, N & Ar (I knew learning the first twenty elements of the periodic table would be useful in my lifetime.. thanks to my grade 10 science teacher Mr Clewett). Once you complete a mission, you also get access to New Tech Levels and various vehicle and instruments at tech level 2 become available. And I got a steam achievement unlocked "It's All About the Science" I then read the rest of the Mission task and see there is another minor task, a photo opportunity requirement. The light bulb dims and I figure out that mission tasks are comprised of Major task and Minor tasks. Each successful completion of Major & Minor tasks during a mission will allow you access to higher level tech and more cash to spend on stuff. In the Early Access version, I can see some instruments have power levels and charge / drain rates and I guess that there would be that certain tasks that require balancing energy usage from your chemical batteries before they are depleted in the later missions. Don't know yet if there are ways to recharge. It's interesting but not for everyone. Interesting enough I had the game freeze on me twice and waited and waited and waited.... before the three finger salute Ctrl+Alt+Del restarted the game. My initial thoughts coming from a Flight Sim enthusiast...... Well just like there are people that are vegetarians and there are people who like a medium rare wagyu rump with a side of hand cut fries, mushrooms swimming in a red wine jus. Take On Mars just doesn't have enough meat to satisfy me. Do your own due diligence and make an informed decision. Read the reviews, watch other videos and then make a purchase or not decision. I 'm not satisfied. If I want a space sim, Kerbal Space Program has that creativity streak that Take On Mars doesn't. Would I play Take On Mars often? Only if my Warthog HOTAS was stolen, and every other computer game I owned was destroyed and it was raining outside and it was a Saturday in June. Aside from that, sure I will play it. Another thing, what is early access, an alpha, beta or in-between? Call it what it is - an Alpha.... Thanks go to my grade 10 Science teacher Mr Clewett -- You were right, I would use the knowledge of the first twenty elements in the periodic table in my life time. :) Score: 2/10 Game play chapters: 00:30 Game Time / Real Time decision 03:02 Margaritaville 04:38 Go to the Lab 05:02 Construction 09:05 Test Vehicle outside in the carpark. 13:39 Launch 19:54 Gas Capture 20:27 Gas Analysis 23:38 Smile! 30:27 Rim 01 completed 31:20 Disconnect -urp_oN_ZCY
