  1. thanks again. I posted a few shots (I had forgotten these commands) thanks guys.
  2. Hey, Just a little experiment of mine, The question is simple, what's the best possible image quality in LockOn, with some of the best hardware available today, and a few cool shots in the process. Image quality shots: http://users.adelphia.net/~neolink1/LockOn/LockOn.htm NOTE: this is NOT the default install, I'm using the HQ skins (awesome job to whoever made these) and a couple of other visual improvement tweaks to make it as sweet looking as possible. -Also, some quality is lost due to jpg compression, but I did not want to post 3Mb+ "png" screenshots and the loss is minimal with low compression. Enjoy, :icon_supe -Neodark
  3. cool, thanks... Taking a few pics.. (well I already took them, but it'll come in handy next time) PS: if it isn't too much to ask, whats the one for "free cam" I cannot find it in my options?? (the one where you use the mouse wheel to move back and forth) thanks again.
  4. Can anyone please tell me what's the key combination to remove the "status bar" at the bottom on the screen when in "outside views" the one that displays pilot name, speed, coordinates, time, etc.. thanks :)
  5. Nice paperweight :p (for a while at least) oh and UNLESS the game is PROGRAMMED to take advantage of it, it will NOT help you. It might even lower your FPS ;) EDIT: Dont mean to sound like an ass, it should be great if it takes off though, have fun.
  6. 44°36′N 33°37′E It's south of Sevastopol.
  7. for LockOn you really need a faster CPU, not GPU (that 6800ultra is good enough, anything higher wont make much of a difference)
  8. yeah, just for testing purposes though.. I have it on my HDTV now (much bigger pic)..
  9. Will download when I get home. sounds cool, thanks :D
  10. Damn, the terrain looks pretty even... Forget the fuel (no pun intended :p ) but how the heck did they manage to break the plane apart that bad? -The nose is pointing the right way for final, but the rest of the body turned 90º Seems like they lost lift and smashed the front of the plane hard instead of gliding as they should've/ Seems like incompetence @ it's finest. Good to hear everyone is ok though. Developed problem eh? -haha, "Sir, we develped a lack of fuel after take off sir.." & "oops, I crashed it again"
  11. because like I said/... Lockon is CPU limited, your GPU is perfectly fine, but you dotn get more FPS due to the CPU being the choke point. Also if your memory is not up to par, run asynch, its not a problem for A64's. You want the highest possible clock on the CPU, thats king for these processors. And WTF, why does scotts man have an 80%? did the mods get a stick up their butts? Oh and scottsman, its a good thing you got the premium, much better than the standard (which is useless with no HD)
  12. this is a more decent link: http://www.break.com/index/airshowcrash27.html (can't see your link, but I assume its the same thing)
  13. Are we only getting the KA50, or also the cobra as flyable in 1.2?
  14. If you have a CPU that is either dual core or has hyperthreading you NEED this utility. (there are other methods, but I like this one, GUI and all) http://www.tomshardware.com/2004/05/28/getting_more_bang_out_of_your_dual_processing_buck/ Download that app, run it, go to the application profiles tab and add lockon.exe in there, you can set affinity for your one of your cores. On my Opteron 170, I set CPU 0 to run the game using this method. As long as that affinity app is running when you run LockOn it will run on the core you designate. (instead of jumping from core to core causing stutters) It definitelly runs a lot better this way. This wont work unless you have a dual-core or HyperThreading CPU. :icon_supe
  15. Geez, whos complaining.. I just find it funny. Had a rough day today Mr. butt? PS: the kind of n00b that just did a fresh install and is enjoying his shinny 7900GTX :p
  16. Touche, But "pwned" back at you, I'm not a native speaker (besides, shouldn't a game be "spell checked") ;) Im Italian. PS: What's worse is: How come nobody ever noticed until now (a non-native speaker to boot) :D
  17. I was posting about LockOn IQ on a 7900GTX, and I noticed this.. Click on image again once it loads (to make normal size) Hydrolics Faliure, eh? Sounds like water addicts to me ;) :p Thats interesting spelling, isn't it?
  18. seems I'm doing a bit better than you on this one (your CPU is holding you back a bit) :p 7900GTX (yes picture is upside down) And, here's one I took before install: click on image again once it loads (to make normal size) Also a 3DMark Score http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=205528 (score = 6581) @ stock clocks of 675/850 Lockon runs good I guess, it's still CPU bound. (good thing is turning EVERYTHING on, including 4xTSAA 16AF is just peachy) Here's an in-game shot of the settings above (yes I had a little mishap) ;) Nice spelling on it too "Hydrolics Faliure" :p click on image again once it loads (to make normal size) Nice cards, aren't they?
  19. Actually some have gotten to 4Ghz + on the FX with custom cascades, the FX line also has a couple of tweaks in it's integrated mem controller, and yes the unlocked multi. ;) About the HTT links and "1XX" opteron, Unless its an opteron in the "2XX" or "8XX" series, it's exactly the same as an A64 with 1mb cache or an X2 if it's a "165" and up). Some say its better than a normal A64 because it's "server grade" but its basically the same thing, think of an opteron "1XX" as a version that simply adds Non-ECC support on the 939 socket with 1MB L2 standard (per core if dual). The opterons in the "2" series and "8" series are designed to work in 2-way or 8-way correspondingly, so they have more hypertransport linksThese buses serve as a system bus and inter-processor bus. However, you should understand that you do not need three hypertransport buses if there is a uniprocessor Opteron system (165 and up). Since the configurations with only one Opteron processor do not need any inter-processor connection, only one HyperTransport is involved.
  20. 170 @ 2.8 here, the game is not multi-thread friendly, so dont expect any benefits from dualcore.
  21. I agree, but... The topic was Vista using too much memory. If it's anything like what we've been promised, it will be much more resource freindly compared to XP. (so we'll be able to get more out of the hardware)
  22. do you know that Vista is supposed to have a "game mode" where it shuts down all non-essencial things to dedicate resources to the game? -in which case its supposed to be more efficient. As well as all the overhead DX10 is going to eliminate from the drivers. You guys should stop freaking out for a program using ram. Do you only have like 256mb or something? Most games today dont use over 1gig (with the xeption of BF2, or C0D2, etc) where they benefit form more. Dont worry, it's all good.
  23. I posted a newsarticle about them before and I got a warning, just so you know... (my 20%) I wasnt bashing either, but... I would advise to edit your post before you get warned. Just friendly advise.
  24. nope, same 1.12. UPDATE: I copied the folders over and somehow it didnt "take", but I guess its not too bad, I think Im getting close to my old setup. Thanks. PS: I'm still off a bit ;) :icon_supe Oh, this is what lockon looks like on a 7900GTX 512 (4XTSAA 16AF + in game settings absolutely maxed out) thanks guys :)
  25. Hey guys, I've recently reinstalled lock on due to a hard crash. I was able to save all the previous data in the lockon folder. So far I've been able to restore the sounds I used, and a couple of other things, but the config.ini didnt seem to store the sensitivity/curves of my axis for roll, pitch, yaw, rudder or trim.. I spent countless hours tweaking to my liking and I cannot find where these were stored... can someone please point me to the right files to copy from my old install to the new one so that my axis can be restored? thanks in advance...
