Depends on if it's classified. I don't know, but those are very real issues that face these guys in developing sims :P If I remember correctly, the IFF system on the A-10C isn't properly modeled because the gov'ment wouldn't tell them how it worked or something.

If you look on the ramp, you can see behind the C130 next to the cargo jets there's that bitchin' F-15 with the canards and the red white and blue paint job. Didn't know that thing was still around.

So the instant the game begins running (A-10C), and I spawn into the world... my plane explodes. I don't mean like, falls apart by getting shot, I mean FULL EXPLOSION. Like *POOF*, with fire and pieces going everywhere. And I know for a fact that there are NO AA or SAMS in the area. Any help? I liked my flight simulator better than my catastrophic structural failure simulator I have now :c

Mustang First Take-Off and Landing: Post your Tracks/Vids

Couldn't turn tighter than a 2 mile radius on the ground, crashed into a pole... yup. -
You sure you don't have the mouse's axis bound or something?

If it wasn't for the 10gb per week bandwidth limit here at my college, I'd dl this in a heartbeat. a 40% increase in FPS is absolutely ridiculous! I want in on that!

Setup tips for those of us with budget sticks?
Advicepuppy replied to hayesj23's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeesh... I'd say the best thing to assign to it would be the TMS. As for other buttons, things such as weapon release, firing the gun, enabling PAC (stage 1 trigger pull, however it is automatically enabled as you fire. Only if you want to line it up first should you do this). You could (maybe) use the remaining buttons as modifiers, switching the hat's function. I dunno -
I usually end up with my cockpit (or my chest cavity) being injected with fuel. That or I get so damned frustrated that I back up and hack one of the wings off of the damned thing with my GAU-8. My wingmen love that :P

I love the font and the pictures, lol. That manual reeks of the 40's and 50's :P

My eject button is a big red lit-up one behind a red safety latch cover thing, with black and yellow caution stripes around it. X-65 :D

Okay, turning on the-- OH CRAP

This is both the dumbest and greatest idea I have ever seen xD

Spring loaded.

Had mine for about 3 months now. No problems at all, BUT there are some minor quirks, such as the detents no longer providing any resistance. I opened it up and... here I'll just link the vid that I made. http://vimeo.com/31758447

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Advicepuppy replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I also read some frightening stuff about the F-35 and the F-22. Yes, even the F-22 was apparently outclassed HEAVILY in war games with Sukhoi Su-37. -
The amount of ingenuity on this forum is ridiculous...

X65F potentiometer replacement
Advicepuppy replied to Speed's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
When you connect the two throttles together, there is NO electronic connection or action taken to make them move together. I think your problem might be mechanical. If you open up the throttle (I made a video on it and can link it), you will see that the throttle is actually a rack and pinion gear system, and I think that your pot might not have been put back ALL the way before the rack was connected, thus making it impossible for it to be completely backward. Should have been . . . . . . . . . ^ But instead it's . . . . . . . . . __^ YOu see what I mean? -
I usually end up getting impaled on the refueling boom, so you're not doing too bad :P And I mean that sh*t literally comes through my windshield and into my chest, killing my pilot whilst the plane stays intact before slowly veering away and then careening into the ground.

Any new FFB on a horizon?
Advicepuppy replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You could always just pretend to struggle against forces, when you're doing a hard bank. I did that when I was little, lol. Yeah I think the only half-decent HOTAS with ffb is the G940. The others are lacking the myriad of controls and whatnot. Even the 940 is rather lacking in its buttons. The X-65 is realistic in its lack of FFB in that it's force-sensitive, but I doubt that a Heli would have a stick like that, at least now. I say you'd just have to wait, or HEAVILY research the 940 and make sure you're willing to put up with any quirks it has. -
Saitek X65F mouse button?
Advicepuppy replied to Dudikoff's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Why use the rotaries? That seems like it'd be a terrible pain. I just use the throttle hat to the right of the K-Switch. The silver circular one, at least on the A-10. I try to keep as much fidelity as I can. -
Saitek X-65F Disassembly VIDEO
Advicepuppy replied to Advicepuppy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I know that one off the top of my head. It's the grease. I literally couldn't rub my hands together because it was so sticky. I mean that sh*t's like tar, not grease. Just replacing it with maybe silicone lubricant or something else would do it. I also just kind of went back and forth and back and forth over and over again for like a minute and that loosened it up significantly. I'll see if I can't make a video on how to re-lube it, although it's pretty simple, not requiring much additional disassembly past the point where I went (which, then again, was almost all the way :P) -
