iControl DCS V2 Development Update
Advicepuppy replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Would you consider one for the ipOd? -
Ever since I used FTNOIR with my webcam, I am no longer able to use my mouse to look around. Or the POV hat for that matter. FTNOIR is still too finicky for my liking, so I'd rather return to the mouse, and use the ministick on my X65, but when I make any input (including zooming) in the COCKPIT view (it works fine in the F2 view) it moves the tiniest bit and then jerks back to center. This is a HUGE disadvantage, as one can see, and I need help because this sucks.

HOTAS Warthog and Future DCS Titles

That's why I got the X65. It's more universal, while holding plenty of similarities to the WH. -
Holy crap!

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Advicepuppy replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Lol flame war imminent. I really don't want to have to fly some mediocre piece of machinery. I want something epic. The F-22 would be awesome,or one of the newer Russian fighters like one of the more advanced Russian fighters. I wish they would hurry up and develop the Su-47 already. I'd love to fly one of them. For me it's either the F-4 or one of the late 4th/5th gen fighters. -
After some browsing around, I found out that the lack of throttle detents in the right throttle was in fact not by design. It is on its way to California right now, and should be there by this Friday. I'll have to wait at least another week before I get it back. That was my only high-end stick, so I feel sad and bored with the logitech Force 3D that I have now, lol. Yup that's just about it. I guess this also serves as a warning that if you are lacking detents, it is NOT by design.

Why not the Super Hornet? They have just as much work on the Super Hornet as son the C, so why not make the better plane? -

Anyone wanna play? I'm about to hop on. -
Lol I'd have trouble at even that stage. Man, the skill you people possess at making stuff is remarkable.

This thought only recently entered my mind, but I think that, if possible, the result of this concept could be an excellent help to any users of the Saitek X65-F, or any sticks in the future that sense pressure, rather than move. The issue with the X65 is that even pressing a button on it does apply force (naturally), and since it isn't a standard moving stick, you don't really know exactly how much to compensate for the input, and the plane veers in the direction of the pressure you applied. For example, when I press the POV hat forward, the plane dips down if I don't compensate (still not too great at that yet). If I'm in the middle of a turn, chasing an enemy and I need to switch weapons or acquire a lock in FC2, this issue could prove catastrophic and end in my (virtual) death. That being said, what I was thinking about was a dynamic, or moving dead-zone that follows your stick. The best example would be in the old PS2 game "Killzone" (freaking amazing, and so were 2 and 3) when using the sniper rifle. Here is a video demonstrating the behavior of the sniper rifle in the original game. Treat the crosshair as the coordinates for the xy input into the stick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4C9CS-z4YTE&feature=related GAAAH HOW DO I EMBED STUFF?!?!?:mad::mad::mad: As you can see, the cross hair moves around without changing the actual angle of the screen, and only affects the screen angle/camera pov when it touches the edges. This allows for input to be made without moving the screen. Then treat that whole part as a circle on a larger input grid, where the circle follows your input crosshair (if you're in the diagnostic window thing) Now, treat the entire screen as the dead-zone, and the very edges as the areas where input would be detected. On the X65, or any joystick, you have a little bit of wiggle room, REGARDLESS of your position, be it pulling up, diving, banking left, right, etc. before actual input is detected. You can now press buttons without affecting the flight path of the aircraft. No thoughts? Anything? I think it'd be great if possible.

X-65F Can't start up the A-10

You mind posting that here? Sounds easier. Oh and I hate how the right throttle doesn't have any detents. I mean what's with that? -

X-65F Can't start up the A-10
Advicepuppy replied to Advicepuppy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ugh... It's annoying, but that's why I quickly switch over to mode 1 again. besides, they take some time to shut down os you can see it happening. raise the throttle again and it goes back up. -
X-65F Can't start up the A-10
Advicepuppy replied to Advicepuppy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well I did what you said and it works, although it's sorta iffy. Because of that, I only have it on mode 2. After I have my engines started (I hate having the detent on only the LEFT throttle) I have to be careful where I put my throttles (I have my break button on mode 2 which I generally use for ground/landing operations.) -
My APU is on, generating power, etc. Everything is ready for me to start up the plane which is done by moving the throttles from OFF to Idle. That's all nice and stuff, but if I move my throttles (just one of them, or both) the throttles ingame do not move. I'm not sure what to do here. I don't want to use the RIGHT WIN+Home anymore
-
So, I've enabled test mode, and allowed the drivers to be installed. I don't get the "install ppjoybus.sys first" or whatever. Now, when I go to install an actual virtual joystick, by selecting the the "Configure Joysticks" and making one, it says "Failed to install driver", and using Facetracknoir, it says, when I select "Virtual Joystick" as a game protocol, it says "No virtual joystick found". I need help :joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick:
-
Dear lord! Why not add an engine, rotors, and some missiles and build a real one for god's sake?
-
It's funny, I can't start the plane up, but know the weapons systems like the back of my hand. I can line up and kill a target in no time, but if I can't do the right windows key home thing, i'll be on the ramp all day, lol. It must be cool, knowing that if you "found your way" into an A-10 fueled up and ready to go at an AFB, you'd be able to steal it, lol. It would be beyond illegal, but holy crap would it be fun.

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..
Advicepuppy replied to HAVOC131's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
It's buried somewhere in this thread, but it's funny as hell so I'll repost it "You pee in two second bursts and yell 'GUNS, GUNS, GUNS!'" I'll admit to doing the first part of that...
