Saitek X-65F Disassembly VIDEO
Advicepuppy replied to Advicepuppy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, it's 20 minutes long, so I can't put it on youtube. I'll see if I can't host it anywhere else or just email it to you or put it up on a fileshare website. I didn't take apart the handles themselves, but there is no real need to, because any issues with DZ's would be located in the base. I'll see what I can do tonight, but it was an interesting experience, and I may very well go into more detail one day on it. Maybe I can figure out how to fix the ever present issue with the detents (I have owned 3 and all have either NO detents in the right, or very weak ones. I think it may very well be caused by grease in the mechanism, which I have explained to the best of my ability and observations in the video.) Edit: OMG I just realized. I can maybe do a LIVE disassembly. -
I took it upon myself, in my infinite benevolence :P to disassemble the X65 on camera. While the camera is kind of crappy, and I didn't take the ENTIRE THING APART down to screws, I pointed out some important components, etc. It's sort of a supplement to the thread on the Sukhoi.ru forums http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=56593&page=13 Will post link to youtube when it's ready.

You could get Airdisplay, which turns your ipad into a touchscreen monitor that can be used for anything on your comp (internet browsing, going through folders, etc. [also works with ipOd]). After that, you can get Helios, set that up on there, and also export the MFD's to it. I'm not good with helios, and I don't really feel like figuring out how to work all of that crap, but I gave it a shot and came really close, so it's possible, and I've seen it done. That'd be your secodn best bet if you want to have the MFCD's on your ipad. Other than that, we're screwed until ED lets us have the scripts.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Advicepuppy replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'm, sorry, did you say NUCLEAR bomb? -
I personally love the stick. I wish it had a 2 stage trigger, but it only slightly detracts from the overall quality and epicness of the stick.

I assumed they were airsoft. I mean if you could afford that kind of firepower, everything in your house might as well be coated in diamonds while you're at it. If this were my setup, they wouldn't be airsoft. Vulgar display of 2nd Amendment.

Those guns might one day save your life. Zombies are a real threat. My "pit" is actually the same, except no guns and an X-65F, with smaller screens left and right (only the left one works) of My 42" LCD TV I use as a monitor. My eyes are bleeding. I get by :D

Lol I just found that pic on the internet. But damn would that be a nice setup. Mine consists of 3 monitors (one a 42 inch lcd tv) with an x65.

It's cool, looking at that picture and knowing what to do with all of those buttons. Btw, I'm one of the smarter kids in my school, which is full of smart kids, and I will have taken all of the engineering courses by this coming year's end, but Jesus Christ I feel dumb here! Why don't you all team up and build a real A-10 already?

U.S. Air Force Lowers Pilot Standards
Advicepuppy replied to Pyroflash's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I read this and was like "YES!" Maybe I can get in now :P Btw that was me making an emergency bathroom pitstop in the hangers on TO. -
Jesus could you imagine seeing a plane seem to explode, then realize there are 33 mavericks headed your way? **EDIT And you know, just because something's impossible, doesn't mean that you can't do it. That made no sense but I'll keep it there anyway.

Anyone use an 1080p LCD TV with the hog?
Advicepuppy replied to bossfrog's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just got my new battlestation set up a week ago. 1920x1080 46" LCD TV right in front of me, a 1920x1080 24" LCD monitor to the left, and a 1280x1024 21" monitor to my right. The only difference I see is the size of the pixels, yielding a slightly lower picture quality from up close. Even so, it's negligible and amazing to see it from close up on a big-ass tv. -
Lol he's building a cockpit from scratch, installing all kinds of high-tech stuff, and he gets stumped on a light. I find it ironic. I have no idea what to tell you, but fan-freaking-tastic pit, and I can't wait to see it when it's done.

The sense of accomplishment after you get the laptop screen to work would be nice, but if you're not using a program/the entire laptop, and only the screen, things get tricky. A lot of the components required for the monitor to function are located in the body itself, and not attached to the screen like on a traditional desktop monitor. As for using the keypad? I'm not sure, but hell if you can put video across them, I don't see why key presses won't work. Fly safe... as far as flying a simulator in your room and the dangers associated with that go...

Too bad Russia and the US can't get along better. We always seem sort of at odds. We could do ANYTHING.

I neglected to write it down and closed my browser. How do I get it back?
