DCS updater not updating and only showing in Task Manager
Akula replied to Akula's topic in Installation Problems
This *appears* to have fixed it... - Disabled and unplugged my Ethernet adapter - Shut down my PC - Cut the main power on the PSU and bled the remaining power pressing the power button on my tower. - Re-plugged my Ethernet cable into a different Ethernet port on my router - powered my system back up and re-enabled my Ethernet adapter. Checked my speeds and it certainly isn't my connection so I'm totally baffled as to why this happens. -
Hope someone can help. I'm having this damm issue with DCS UPDATER. I try to run DCS and the updater kicks in. It shows up in the task manager but just sits there forever, it will not timeout and does absolutely nothing. Nothing is updating and nothing is being checked and DCS will not load unless I directly go through the dcs.exe icon found in D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin I can't find anyone with this exact same issue so I'm really stumped. Here is what I have tried so far Full uninstall and reinstall of DCS and all the modules (that fixed it for like, ONE day) Full shut down and restart of my machine and windows 10 tried Left Shift & Right click on the bin folder then select "open command window here". Once in command prompt you can update by typing: dcs_updater update. This did NOTHING. Checking if the updater window is anywhere on either of my monitors, it is not. I even tried to do the "restore application window" trick but the updater isn't even in my task bar or system tray to do that. Tried using the start menu and updating DCS World OpenBeta using the list in the Eagle Dynamics Folder. Nogo... Downloaded the latest version of DCS UPDATER and replaced the file in my bin folder. Nothing..... tried running the updater with and without firewall and anti virus enabled. No change Everything is being run "As Administrator" Nothing has worked so far

Hey bro, how did you fix this? Your instructions aren't text book clear. I'm having the same issues and right clicking on my task bar and system tray and I don't see any options you're talking about. OK, just re-read your post..... My issue is different. DCS_updater shows up in the TASK MANAGER but does not show up in the system tray or the task bar.

I don't think that's what the OP is asking... The OP wants to know how he can get a Mission success message when he QUITS the mission. I'm actually wondering how to do this as well.

Yup, If an armor piercing bomb actually hit the middle of a US carrier deck oh the chaos and disorganization that would erupt as a result of the complacency. I'm from Canada and we are the kings of complacency.
-
Precisely. The lower decks are built for long term storage and maintenance. During a storm, the aircraft are moved aft of the island to keep the front of the deck clear and the jets are anchored. No USN experience or background, just using logic but hey, see what the google machine comes up with lol Edit: Let's face facts. US carriers have not been attacked since WW2 and carry a full support team of destroyers along with one sub. That said, I can't imagine the Americans being 100% ready if their carrier was attacked.

Anyone else having engine start up problems recently?
Akula replied to saberthree's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi Daebak, Did you by chance make that video? I’m also having the same issues with engine start. Did the training and followed all the steps, calibrated and synced my throttles, remapped all my keys except for engine stop which I left default. No issues when doing “in the air” start. Using the latest Logitech X56 and running 2.5.6 open beta.... incredible how even now ED hasn’t fixed this. P.S. I’m an F-18 driver and have absolutely no issues doing a cold start in the Hornet so just wondering what I’m missing. -
You can set up a mission for it... It's not exactly what you want but it's a workaround.

If he's heading towards you the radar cross-section may be quite small and hard to pick up. You could try climbing a bit or diving to get a better return and see if that helps.

FA-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign
Akula replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in F/A-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign
Quick question about refueling that I can't find anywhere.. In the third mission, tankers are around to refuel but what commands do I need to implement to refuel in between dogfights without failing or ending the mission? -
Excellent reply and well warranted. To demonize the criticisms of paying customers is just sad.
-
I royally suck at dog fighting so I usually just try to turn as tight as I can without bleeding energy so I can save a hard energy turn for when I really need it. Sometimes it works but I need to work on my out thinking skills. lol

Maybe read what I posted before assuming I'm stating a fact. I said; "I'm not even sure" not; "I definitely know"
-
Why would you need a combination of both anyway? if my mission is to take out a target that can potentially fire back at me I'd take it out with AGM 65F's first to suppress the air defenses and then use MK82's CCIP to destroy the rest. Less weapons management that way. What you're trying to do is manage both systems one after another as you're closing in on a target which is fine..... If it can't fire back at you but if it can then it's too much. I'm not even sure a real pilot would choose that combo of ordnance just to keep the workload to a minimum.

You think the Hornet is too hard to stop? Lol, try landing the F-5 or the SU-25. :megalol:

If anyone is still having issues, check out post #12 here; https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=246826&page=2 and read what I posted. It's a little more complicated than just dropping a bomb.

Thanks Backy, worked like a charm! I think what most people may be missing (because even with my knowledge of the MFD's and UFC I missed it) are the following steps. 16- Conduct standard LGB AUTO attack. Line up velocity vector with ASL and hold down weapon release button [RALT + Spacebar] shortly before bomb fall line passes through the velocity vector. 17- At 15 seconds before Time To Impact (TTI), press and hold trigger button [spacebar] to fire the laser. In general, conduct attack between 20-25k at no less than 350kts. Basically, you drop the bombs first and THEN you activate the laser to tell the bombs where to go. It kinda gets lost in the set of instructions when most people think it's simply a matter of pressing the "pickle" button and you're done. Come to Ottawa for your free beer!!!! :megalol:

Let me try it real quick and I'll get back to you.... Thanks

Done and done!!! Nothing. I tried everything you said AND tried it with TRIG boxed and unboxed and still no dice (using GBU-12's). If you ever wanna do a quick hop to walk me through it I'll buy you a beer next time you're in Ottawa Ontario ;) I can host and use discord or TS. if anyone else wants to fly online so we can practice, PM me

Thanks guys. On a side note, I hope to finally drop A bomb soon. It seems no matter how I try to configure it all, the bombs don't fall. Flir on. codes set on all GBU's to 1688 as well as the FLIR. MA on set to AG. Target chosen but not locked, "memory" cue flashes.... Set it to Auto, CCIP and still, no drop. Can't wait for a Laobi tutorial Edit; yes, the switch next to FLIR is also ON.

Hey all, is there a KB command to center the TGP? I can't find it.

The F-16 should auto trim. It's avionics are very similar to that of the F-18... Of course, there are some differences but the transition should not be that hard.
