Even if it will be only simple "area triggers" (if you fly over area X, something nasty scrambles your way ;) ) it will be a step forward. Better this way than synchronizing everything by time in mission editor. I'm sure the missions will be more dynamic and exciting because of this feature.

Exactly. Laser target designation is used primarily against ground targets. It is not that popular against airborne targets, since their maneuverability. So question for beta testers: does L-140 is useful in BS at all? :music_whistling: Laser guided SAM's: http://www.military.cz/sweden/RBS70/default_en.htm http://www.army-technology.com/projects/starstreak/index.html http://www.sinodefence.com/army/surfacetoairmissile/qw3.asp Anything else?
-
Holy cow! That's true. IR is a passive guidance and its detection is the other story. How stupid from me. :chair: So... it really sucks. Most of the A2A and G2A missiles are either radar or IR guided. Missiles guided by laser illumination of a target aren't that popular as anti-airborne weapons, I think. So, not much help for surviving...

I personally consider the lack of RWR in Ka-50 as a mistake. Ok, I know - the designated combat environment supposed to be SAM-free. Most threats will be IR-guided missiles, that's why LWR is needed. However RWR would be nice to. Even if "just in case". Does anybody knows why they give up on assembling such a vital equipment? Was it some issue with weight limits, or some technical problems? I really don't get it...
-
It doesn't. However the new prototypes are equipped in RWR, if I'm correct. The Ka-50 in BS won't. But it will have LWR. :music_whistling:

Lucky you. Texans have pretty nice start this season. :megalol:

Well... believe me, some freaks are thinking about Hind anyway. I'm the one of them. :joystick:

Does A-10 looks like a chopper? ... No... it doesn't. :megalol:

DCS: Black Shark - Q&A **READ FIRST!**
Jascha replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Here are my questions (I hope they were not answered already): #1 - How the upgrade of DSC base will look like? Will it be downdoadable patches or some integrated update system? #2 - Let's say John has Black Shark module. All other AI aircraft in his DSC have simplified flight model, no AWM and so on. Then he wants to play online with guy that has Apache module as well. How will it work since he doesn't have AFM, AWM of AH-64? Does it mean that release of new modules will give him a chance to upgrade his DSC base that will give to some of his non-flyable AI aircraft AFM and AWM (even if he doesn't buy new module)? #3 - Has ED actually planned releasing the info about DSC now? Or was there some leak and they were like more forced to do this? :music_whistling: Thanks in advance. :photo: -
Hi there! It's great to be here. I was surprised when I put my login and password from lockon.ru forums and it... worked. Good idea.

Agree. I was also very happy with VAC (Voice Activated Commands), when I was using it with IL2. You can find 30-day trial version of VAC 1.8.5 here - http://www.dwvac.com/download.htm It's funny, but I have still version 1.4 on my HD (although not installed anymore) and it's freeware. I don't recall the program asking me for activation or someting like that. Oh... You can find ready to use profiles on this site (also for LO). But I haven't checked them.
-
Of course. :) You use pedals in both cases but during taxi you control the nose wheel with it not the rudder itself.
-
 Aren't you confusing rudders with nose wheel steering?
-
And what about using rudder to make turns tighter? E.g. bank right + rudder right. Doesn't this work this way? With altitude loss of course. Or the additional loss of speed is not worth doing it?
-
Like any other CAS plane I guess... :hmm: I'd say helicopters are the best choice for urban missions. PS. for interesting mission idea.

Is the second campaign mission for the SU25t impossible?
Jascha replied to Honest989's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yeah... I remember this mission. It's insane. How can you engage targets that you can't see with unguided weapons? Sick. :) The target can be seen on the HUD, that's true, but taking the correction (for moving target) in this conditions seems impossible to me. It's only a pure luck question then... I'm also disappointed, that in many custom missions/campaigns the authors put bad weather conditions simply too often. What do they want to prove? It gets me only angry... regards PS. BTW. Honest989, have You tried with "Mercury"-POD? It's IR system I gues. Provides target data for Shkvall in low-light ops. Should help.... -
Hi guys! I'd like to present You my first Lock-On movie (length - about 3,5 min; file size - 45 MB). Here is the link: >>> http://rapidshare.de/files/17896290/Lock-On_-_Cobra_Hits.wmv.html <<< Maybe few words about the movie... The movie's title is "Pugachevs' Cobra - Combat Use In Lock-On" (the filename is shorter - "Lock-On Cobra Hits"). As You probably already know, it's about using Cobra Maneuver during the air combat. ;) It contains 4 "different" maneuvers. I know, that the movie is more about stunts then reality. I'm also aware that such a maneuvers will often only complicate apparantly simple situation. Well, the truth is, You have to be very desperate to perform this in "real" combat (because in my movie the enemies are hmmm... rather dummies then a real threat). Despite this, these "tricks" look quite cool to me. :) And that's why I've made a movie about it! The second important announcement is that this is my first movie. Not only first Lock-On movie, but generally. Therefore it cannot be compared with movies by Glowing_Amraam or bsrLOCsta (and others, I call them "professional", LO movie-makers), whom work I sincerly admire. But I gues it's not so bad as for a first movie. And after all, it's my own work, so I'm very proud of it. :p Well anyway... I just hope that You will have fun while watching it, as I did while making it. Enjoy! Salute! :)

Thanks for the help guys, but the problem isn't exactly solved because I have no idea, which coordinates (and in which file) should I change. @ Janko Thanx, but I knew this view alredy. Maybe I should be more specific. I'm looking for the view that it's like: - the camera is placed on the instrument panel - like somewhere near the HUD - and it's pointed on the pilot - so you see the pilot and the back of the plane - the camera is inside the cockpit Like I said, it's used in LockOnSTE-5 for example. Cool movie. It's worth downloading + you'll see what I'm looking for. It's like the real pilots are filming themselves during the flight. If anyone will find something about it, please let me know. S! PS. Omg, this question about subtitles was so n00bish...
-
Hi! I'm trying to make my own Lock-On movie (just for fun) and I have a few questions about custom view angles in LO: 1) How to get this "pilot in cockpit view"? (The camera is like somewhere on the instrument panel and it's aimed at the pilot - for exaple like in LockOnSTE 5) 2) How can I set the camera angle fixed below the wing, right next to the missile - like in LockOnSTE 5, No Fear etc... I can do this with help of the [shift-Esc] and [Ctrl-NUM/ or NUM*], but it's not exactly this what I want. Is there any other solution (maybe I need to modify some file?) 3) Is it possible to get padlock from the cockpit, without this "padlock crosshair"? 4) How to disable "the subtitles" (ACM failure, Maximum AOA etc..)? Thanks in advance for the help! :) S!

Great skin! I already like it. :D PS. Is this based on a real one, or fictional?
