[KNOWN] Create Fast Mission; Advanced Mode (Not Generating)
Gpruitt54 replied to Gpruitt54's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks, -
Attempting to create a Fast Missions in Advanced Mode, the mission is not being generated. Selecting the Syria Map in the Advanced Mode, the map overlay is grayed-out as though the map did not exist. However, then creating a Fast Mission while not in the Advanced Mode, the missions will get generated. So, it seems that generating missions in advanced mode is not working.

DCS Helicopter community thank you guys a million!
Gpruitt54 replied to BaD CrC's topic in DCS: Syria Map
How are you guys launching missions using the Syria map? I usually just jump into an Instant Action mission, But none exist as of yet? Thanks Greg -
I installed the Syria Map to discover that there are no Instant Action Mission options as there is with the other maps in DCS. I do not know hot to use the editor. So, how do I fly the Syria map? Are there Instant Action content coming for the Syria map? Or, are there content I can download and install? Thanks Greg

I use the same binding for every plane for things like Gear, flaps, canopy, speed brakes/air brakes, view, zoom, etc. There just has to be a better way than to set the same thing for every single module. I am not saying that this could work for every control. But it seems that this could work for a lot of things. What this manages are the settings in the Saved Games/DCS/Config/Input folder. There are the .lua files that hold the settings details.

YES! More combat hilos. DCS has more than enough scout choppers but, as of how, only one combat hilo, that is the Black shark. Great request. Those three would be the SHIT!

Back up controls config file?
Gpruitt54 replied to Gpruitt54's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
YES! THANK YOU!!!!! So, after getting all the settings individually and for each plane all I need to do is back up the input folder so I don't have to do all that work again. Right! Could it be that easy? -
I've just had to delete my save games DCS Open Beta file in order to fix a problem. In deleting the folder, I killed all the controls for all my modules. It took a long time to get all my modules individually setup. Is there a file I can backup that will save all the controls assignments?

Yep. Same here. Unless you pitch hard in the opposite direction in order to slow your momentum just before touching down.

Mi8 FOV Slider, why not for all DCS modules
Gpruitt54 replied to Gpruitt54's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Right, it's under the "Special" tab, then select on the Mi-8 on the left side of the screen. You will see a slider called "Max FOV Adjustment". From what I can see, the Mi8 is the only module that has an FOV adjustment in a convenient slider. All the other modules forces users to dive into configuration files as if we were computer programmers. Someone smart made it simple to adjust the commonly sought out adjustment. I am asking why don’t all the modules include a slider for FOV. Based on the number of threads on the subject, Clearly it is needed. -
Thanks. Are you aware of any instant action missions involving the carriers. None of the instant missions seem to include the carriers.

Are there any free flight missions around the super carrier with the HU1 Huey

Open beta updater stalled "Updating myself..."
Gpruitt54 replied to Gpruitt54's topic in Installation Problems
You know what they say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. So, somehow I expected that at the end of another updater session I expected the find a functioning version of DCS World. The end of the update displayed an exception error and a 2.5.6 version of DCS, but with none of my modules installed. The game opens as 2.5.6, just with no working modules. AGAIN! -
Open beta updater stalled "Updating myself..."
Gpruitt54 replied to Gpruitt54's topic in Installation Problems
I will know better after the process completes. But as of now, is looks as if the updater has killed my stable 2.5.5 build and is now creating the folder and files structure for the Open Beta only. My intent was to keep the stable 2.5.5 and install the additional Open Beta 2.5.6. It will be several hours before I can be definitive on this. -
Open beta updater stalled "Updating myself..."
Gpruitt54 replied to Gpruitt54's topic in Installation Problems
In my experience, the command line has clobbered many a working version of DCS. This has happened 4 times previously, and I will not do that again. I should not have to. Case in point. Last night, I forced the updater to update 2.5.5. I let me run over night. This morning I woke to discover that the process had completed. I double clicked the DCS icon and was informed that the location referenced in the shortcut did not exists. WTF! Once again, I followed advice to allow an update procedure to fix a problem and once again, I have no working game files. The problem is that I did not follow my past experiences I shouldn't have messed a perfectly working version of the game, out or date or not. This marks the 5th time this has happened. This is ridiculous. I play several games and this is the only one what routinely trashes itself in the process of updating the GD game files. There are so many threads referencing issues like mine. Clearly, there is a problem with this software that is not being addressed. -
Open beta updater stalled "Updating myself..."
Gpruitt54 replied to Gpruitt54's topic in Installation Problems
For as long as I have been a user of DCS products, I have learned one thing above all. Once it is working, DO NOT tweak it. I purchased Super Carrier several months ago. I cannot play it because it will not run on my 2.5.5 version of DCS. I am extremely afraid to force it to update. In following others recommendation, I have broken the game. -
Open beta updater stalled "Updating myself..."
Gpruitt54 replied to Gpruitt54's topic in Installation Problems
In stable version, you mean 2.5.5? Yes, I have a version of the updater utility installed from some time ago. It was installed in an attempt to fix something. The updater utility never did what it was supposed to do. But, I left the software on the system. I am not an expert in DCS at least where it comes to fixing things like this. My prior experience with tweaking things in DCS has (in every case) resulted in a completely broken software installation requiring a complete reinstall of DCS and all its modules. Is there a simpler way of getting where I need to go? What if I uninstall the updater utility? Might that prompt the update request you mentioned? -
As it is now, every aircraft must be individually assigned its aircraft controls. It would be great if there were a means of assigning user selectable controls assignments to all planes from a single interface. Maybe a second such feature for helicopters. To be realistic, there are hundreds of assignments in DCS. I am only referring to the basics like: control surfaces Gear and arresting devices view controls targeting flaps, speed brakes, etc And other universal assignments. A utility that would eliminate the need to assign these individually would be a gigantic win for DCS and its users.

Open beta updater stalled "Updating myself..."

WHAT...!!! My version of DCS says it is version 2.5.5. On the DCS website the newer modules, including the Super Carrier says it needs 2.5.6. I looked in the module manager and I don't see the Super Carrier. How do I access it with my 2.5.5 version of DCS. -
It has been years since I have bothered to try any DCS Open Beta products. But, I bought the Supper Carrier, which only works on 2.5.6 on higher. So, I must install the Open Beta in order to use the module. The DCS Updater 2.10.2.42 is stalled. It has been running for 6 hours. The progress bar is sweeping with the message "updating myself..." I am unable to cancel the install process, and the install does not seem to be doing anything. What do I do?

How will the KA50 updated cockpit be distributed? Will it be a download, or a push update?
-
Will the updated cockpit come in the form of a new download, or an update to the game software?
-
Looks as if I stumbled upon a solution to my specific issue with Ka-50 FOV. Starting with the file path "...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\Views". Make a copy of the Server.ula file. Open the filed named "Server.ula" I located the details for the Ka-50 (See the code below) The line reading "CameraViewAngleLimits = {20.000000,120.000000},". I changed the value "120.000000", to a new value of "180.000000". When I restarted DCS, and started the Ka-50 module, I had a better FOV, in that I can now see the HUD and a few instruments. ViewSettings["Ka-50"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 CockpitLocalPoint = {3.188000,0.390000,0.000000}, CameraViewAngleLimits = {20.000000,120.000000}, CameraAngleRestriction = {false,60.000000,0.400000}, CameraAngleLimits = {140.000000,-65.000000,90.000000}, EyePoint = {0.090000,0.000000,0.000000}, limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.020000,0.350000},y ={-0.150000,0.165000},z = {-0.170000,0.170000},roll = 90.000000}, },

Yes, this thread and others gives truth that there is an issue with FOV that are easily addressed within the game interface. QUESTION: What is the complete path to the "Server.ula" file you referenced here? I am looking in the path "C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\DCS" and I do not see a Server.ula
