Even if they model a later version of the radar, I hope they still include Mavs. The game is already set in an alternate reality in which NATO fights Russia, I imagine doing some wire work to make AGM-65B compatible could be done without too much difficulty. The radar on the MiG-21bis doesn't support the Kh-66, but nobody is complaining about that.

So according to wiki, the F-5E has a "TV" mode for its APQ-159-1 radar, which is used for guiding Mavericks. How does this work exactly? Does it just have a camera on the nose like the Ka-50, or does it some how turn radar returns into a TV picture?

I imagine interception will make up the largest part of gameplay, but there is enough variety in weapons to mix things up a little. What kind of operations will we be taking part in? Anything exciting planned for the missions/campaign?

I tried installing the MiG-21 into DCS World OpenBeta but I just get the message "DCS World 1.2.16.43180 must be installed." Is there somewhere I can just download the 1.5 versions?

What does "optimized for GPU" mean, exactly? Does your GPU have an easier time with the new engine? Does it focus more on GPU rather than CPU?

So sorry if I missed something but... Will uninstalled DCS 1.2.16, mainly because I was having some issues with it. I could reinstall it right now, but will I be able to download the 1.5 beta by itself without requiring the previous version? It seems like a pretty massive change, it'd make sense to me that you wouldn't need to have a game installed that runs on a completely different engine.

I love "transitional" planes like these that exist between the eras of analog and digital flight.

Can I Switch Over to Steam When DCS 1.5 Comes Out? Sorry if this was answered elsewhere and I missed it. If I've installed DCS from here and bought all my modules on this site as well, will I be able to transfer all of my products over to Steam version when version 1.5 comes out? I currently own the A-10C, F-15, Ka-50, UH-1, MiG-21, and FW-190.

The F-5E is a great choice for a lot of reasons, in fact. It gives the MiG-21bis a decent opponent, as you just said. It also gives the F-14 a great opponent, with the right music and paint job. ;) What do you shoot for singleplayer missions in Nevada if invading Russians don't make any sense? Aggressors, and F-5 is one of the most common aggressor aircraft. It is multi-role so you can get a lot of gameplay value out of it in a variety of missions. Tons of nationalities use the F-5, which gives it even more varied gameplay options. It's still competent enough to be usable/helpful in most multiplayer servers, which typically are full of 80's to 00's aircraft. It's simplicity makes it a good introduction to fighters. It just makes a lot of sense to have in DCS. I love the "subgenre" of the MiG-21 (lightweight 70's multi-role fighter) but I'd much prefer to have Western instrumentation that I'm used to.

Hopefully the F-5E's *relative* lack of complexity means it isn't too far off, even if it's in early stages.

The Spit, P-47 and F-18 weren't on there, suggesting they may be further behind. Maybe they planned the F-5E as a "surprise" release? It would save them from us complaining about the release date fo it.

I hope it's real. Exactly the kind of thing I want to fly. Simple, sexy, multirole, and a good competitor for the MiG-21Bis. Hopefully we get the AN/APG-159-1 for AGM-65B television mode. EDIT: saw a tab for it in the Options > Special page too.

I'm worried about the dialogue wheel, voiced protagonist, and a backstory that is significantly more predetermined than previous Fallout games (which doesn't work for sandbox RPG's). It really reduces our dialogue options and makes it harder to RP certain characters. Aside from that, Fallout 4 is looking fantastic and I can't wait to put hundreds of hours into it! I just hope Bethesda has upped their writing and voice acting, since FO3 paled compared to FNV in that regard. I'm also excited to die over and over again in Dark Souls III. The announcement had me worried it would become annualised like Assassin's Creed, but reports from gamers who saw the demo confirm it's been in the works for 4 years and that this is the last one, so thank god for that. And congrats to Sony for pulling off no less than 3 gaming miracles in 1 conference. The chances of Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian, and FF7 Remake being announced at the same time are lower than DCS World 2 and EDGE not being delayed.
