@ Mvsgas, thanks for this symphony

Hi, Mikoyan, that's good you didn't link the video. I saw the video available on the RJG website right after I started this thread. I was really upset since it shows the aftermaths of the crash from very close. I was not the only one as you could see very negative reactions from the readers against the RJG for having put such a video online at that moment. I think there's no need to post further video of this tragedy and let's wait for the investigation conclusions

Yes, very nice camouflage by the way. When I saw the report on TV news, an interviewed revolutionary fighter declared : "it's the biggest sheep in Lybia !" That made me laugh out loud. What a sense of humor

Thanks for sharing this kind of unexpected stories. We don't hear about such very often and I think very few are aware of this kind of situation. It brings a bit of fresh air allthough it's still a bit worrying for such a young child to fly with her courageous mother. I hope things will get better in that country

duel monitor set up exporting mfd
Laurius replied to HOP_TRIZZ's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, as Cichlidfan mentioned it, your center monitor parameters are still wrong and that's probably a bit because of me since I was may be a bit confusing on this. In your .lua file, for you center monitor you should have : x = 1680, y = 1050 and aspect = 1.6. The resolution of 1680 x 2074 and aspect ratio = 0.83 should only be entered in the video options page of the sim. Unfortunatly, I can't give you insight with easy monitor since I don't use it. I'm sure with Cichlidfan's help, you will make it. -

duel monitor set up exporting mfd
Laurius replied to HOP_TRIZZ's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Hot Trizz, I try to help. You say you have two screens : the main one is 1680 x 1050 and the second one is 1280 x 1024, placed bellow. Then I assume you want to diplay both MFDs on the top side of your second monitor. In this case, I can see several issues in the .lua file you posted : 1) the overall resolution should be : 1680 x 2074 (should also be entered in the video option page of the sim when using multi monitor set-up). 2) because of 1), you have to change the aspect ratio which is now 0.83 instead of 1.6 (should also be entered in the video option page of the sim). 3) Try to remove those "/2" 4) Because of your new resolution, the positions of both MFDs are wrong. Try x=0, y=1693 for the left MFD and x=880, y=1693 for the right one. Don't forget to extend your desktop to both screens in Windows. In the end, you would probably have to play with MFD size and position values in order to have them perfectly where you want them to be. I hope I could help -
The photo where no pilot head is seen is very strange. How can such a picture be made ??? Very clear with no sense of speed ? Anyway this tragic event will raise questions (authorized area of evolution, no flying allowed over spectators area, etc...) that have probably been assessed with previous horrible tragedies(remember of Ramstein Air Show and the Frecce Tricolori in 1988...). Now it seems there is also a debate about the eventual pilot's age implication. I read he was 74 instead of 80 as reported in the above quoted article. Anyway, that's an horrible and sad event since such shows are really meant to entertain people and make or keep them dreaming to fly

I really enjoyed this one. This is the first time I see MFDs in "portrait" mode and really think it's original. Is it ?
-
I love it  Thank you Sir

Smart & simple = very nice pit. Bravo !!
-
Now I can see it. That explains the strange appearance of the main gear tires (inconsistant different size in & out for both planes) @ Tn prvteye & Hitman : Congrats Dudes, you really have the eye of the tiger :D @ Mvsgas : You really were on something ! Congrats all the way  I'm continuously impressed here.... :worthy:

I have experienced both the Pro Flight (1st) and Combat (2nd, 3 months after on Amazon, big price drop) rudder pedals from Saitek but no CH ones. Both Saitek are great but my preference goes for the Combat ones since they are much tougher (have to loosen tension at the maximum) compared to Pro filght (tension is releasing very fast so more action on the tension wheel is continuously needed... Broke mine after one month). In any case, both are wobbling but the Combat feel really more robust.

Very appreciated. You are talented for explaining and describing what you're doing . I also had to turn up the volume after I followed your advice ;)

Since I do think they look the same either, could you please tell us what made you think they could look different ? I thought about the nose gear trapdoors but since F-35 has 2 of them, I really wonder ... (at the begining, I thought one was enough but I was wrong) Cheers

You are may be talking about the nose gear trapdoor ?

Hi IamSparticules, Welcome to you here. As said above, the best is to go progressively, concentrating on one thing at a time (May be landing first :music_whistling: ?? ). Personaly, I spent a lot of time on the training missions. Then I skiped to the SP ones included with the sim (the Easy, Medium, Hard ones). After I downloaded missions from here (there is bunch of good ones) but still need to go with MP mode, which will come at some point. Nevertheless, don't forget to check also those Wiki links : http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Main_Page#DCS:_A-10C_Warthog http://dcswiki.com/index.php?title=DCS:_A-10C_Tutorial_Collection You will never get lost here Cheers

Hi there, I don't know if those who have requested a quote from Fain.com (Goodrich ACES II replicas) have received a reply so far. I received one today but my request was posted more than one month ago. At least I was glad my curiosity was satisfied but was nevertheless a bit disapointed. The answer I got was indicating prices ranging from $18000 up to $45000 for the lowest level replica and the highest one respectively. I don't speak about the export license from the US State Department (I deeply understand that but how much could that cost ?) Now I really think I have to start something by myself or ask Flim for this lovely seat (I love your mini-pit Flim !!)

Hi, first, I completly agree with Cali's post (#125). I was really doubtfull about this "pit". Everything is scary, especially this amount of gun (beside the size of the screens). But indeed, it's not even the embryo of a pit. I'm glad this was a joke. You have really good eyes... I didn't even notice it ! If you like lightsabers, you (but not only) might be interested in this : http://www.slothfurnace.com/sabers/ROTJLuke_01.html But, that's another topic... Cheers

Hi Folks, Here's my set-up. I finally found the screens I was looking for. This was the step I wanted to achieve i.e. put those screens behind my TM Cougar MFDs. These are Lilliput UM-80/C/T 8" Touch Screen Monitors (see : http://www.lilliputuk.com/monitors/usb/um80/) I've ordered them last tuesday afternoon from Amazon.fr and they arrived this morning today. Wow !! I went for those USB monitors following the input made by WRFirefox (recalled few posts above). Apparently, an USB monitor with an integrated GPU is really worth trying. I tried it with the monitors above mentioned and I don't regret it at all, allthough their price might be frightening. I would have prefered to go for a cheaper deal but wasn't able to find one. I wanted 8" displays and the Lilliputs are definetly great. Cougar MFDs could be easily stuck on them thanks to Velcro stripes and making the .lua file was much much easier than I could ever think of, thanks to this wonderfull thread : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60815 Less than 2 hours after I received them, I was already able to display something decent. I would say that I haven't noticed so far a big inpact on my FPS, which remains almost unchanged to roughly 50-60 fps depending on the mission. Sorry for the bad quality of the images. I took them with my cell phone. Better ones will come, especially after I have dressed something up around the MFDs. I hope it will help those who haven't decided yet wich way to go. Nevertheless, whatever the way you choose, you'll never get lost here. One last word. I don't know where all of this will lead me and how far I will go. For sure, I found many answers here thanks to the great contributions of many great members. I also feel that ED made me recover some of my teenage excitement for this amazing world of modern war jets ;) Thanks for reading Cheers

Thanks Hakjar. It's good to know, and please, don't feel sorry
-
@WRFirefox : I'm glad your 7" screens are doing their jobs but i would honestly and definitly prefer 8"s. Thank you all the way and keep us informed about your progress. I will do the same. @Hakjar : I don't think having touch screen is really important to have when dealing with MFDs. Thank you by the way for the "Allcam" info that will still interest somebody around here. But if I had a word to say, it's a bit too expensive. Regarding the Coolstuff one, no $ or € prices Cheers
-
this one is indeed absolutly impressive and as you said it : WOOAAA ! See it flying and you can't hardly say wether it's a real A-10 or a model. Beside this one, the one from Banana looks really like a toy
-
Thank you WRFirefox for those info. I was aware that 8" screens were better fitting the MFDs and thought you had this size. I didn't notice the presence of the GPU. Do you plan to use the additional screens to display other panels/gauges ? How could DCS A-10C manage them (up to 6) ? Use of Helios ? Did you notice any effect of this set-up on your FPS ? Sorry, that's a lot of questions :P @Hog driver111th : I've also read that screens with USB connection were not the best and that VGA was much better. So I'm still a bit confused and don't know what to choose since there is also the possibility to use a second monitor with both MFDs stuck on it. If I choose separated screens I will probably go for the 8 " proposed by dealextrem.com. I think it should be cheap solution to start with. Anyway, I will keep you informed Cheers
