  1. Great and nicely done vid ! As always, music plays an essential part in it. I can't imagine the amount of work needed to achieve this... What is the town where the main action is taking place ? Is it Seattle ? Cheers
  2. Many thanks to you Outlaw, your words are going deep through my heart and my soul. I know I'm far from being an active poster here, but always glad to help in the way I can. I think my next panel will be the fuel one and I won't miss to post my progress here. I will try to make the simplest interfacing that can be done at the moment. By the way, the GP WIZ is easy to handle and you can use several of them (up to 4 if I remember well). Just have to see how to connect them since my mother board USBs are fully used. My dream is to use Dimebug's plans to start building something that looks like a Hog pit. This won't be an easy task for a noob like me. But hey, that's just a matter of time for gathering all the information needed. I should add, that here is the nicest place to do so. I will take my time and will continuously watch and learn from the progresses made by everyone posting. Anyway, to achieve such a goal is time demanding though and many things have changed since I started this adventure at the begining of this year, inspired by so many of you there. Helios will probably be the next step for me, trying to combine it with what I already have. Thanks again to everyone here giving inspiration and infos for the new comers Cheers Laurius
  3. Outlaw, Good job on your panels and enclosures and glad to know you were able to assign you switches and perform the start up training. When I answered you, I didn't know you were going to use Helios. And sorry for the not so correct path I indicated for finding the .lua file. As you could have guessed, english is not my native language and it takes me some time to write long posts. It's also irritating me a bit because if I take too much time when I search for infos during my writing, most of the time, I find myself logged off when I get back to write. So I took the habit to copy and past what I'm typing. At least, you make me feel like coming back to panel building ! ;) Cheers
  4. Really nice ! I like it !
  5. Hi 0utLAW Thank you for the comment. Unfortunatly, as I don't have a CAD programm, I draw a plan on a sheet of paper trying to figure out how it would look like (seen from the side) as a stand alone device on a desk. So I completly made it from scratch and I used 1.5 mm thick aluminum plate. I'm really sorry because I can't find back what I draw and can't provide you with plans. I would say, just try to imagine how convenient it would be for you to have this panel standing on your desk with the right angle in order to use it without making it swinging each time you're actionning the swithes. Anyway, I took some pictures during the building and I hope they will help you. My GGG card was put in a different box and my two panels are connected to it. So no card in the ELEC PWR panel enclosure. The AHCP panel has no enclosure and stand as it does thanks to the switches ! (See picture in my previous post) Also, thanks for the explaination of what Lauan is. In fact in printed (with ink jet printer) the overlayer on a photograph quality paper (270 g/m2) and used laminating pouches with a Pavo laminating machine. I'm sure you can find such a one near where are. As those pouches are highly reflecting, I sprayed a matt varnish at the end. Again, about my own experience, I used the plans of Duckling found on his website. I thought about back lighting the ELEC PWR panel. The aluminum back plate had holes to insert LED. It tried this way but the result was not satisfactory at all. Intense light right above the LEDs with a short range strong diffusion around. Back lighting is a hard task and I decided to forget it for the moment. I have no solution to propose but I remember Reactorone proposed one for this purpose but he's probably not the only one. Some are using stripes with leds. Search option is your best friend. Otherwise some times ago I found this but didn't try it : http://www.luminousfilm.com/el_lamp.htm http://electroluminescence-inc.com/ELsheets.htm Cheers Laurius
  6. Oups, seeing my pictures again, I realize that I used DP switches !! Only consider one row (sorry for the bad spelling in my previous message)
  7. You're assuming right. Best is to test with a ... tester :), used as an ohm-meter. That's what I did. Best is to forget about the hole and just consider the pins. In that case, the middle pin will always has to be connected to the ground. But only works if you take those 3 (6) in a raw. Considering the same row, the other two are power. Connect them as up and down positions (middle will be the "safe" position) and you can forget the second raw in the case of a DP switch. As I didn't use DP switches, that's what I think Sorry, I don't know what Lauan is. Personnaly, I used 1.5 mm thick aluminum plate and 2 layers of 2.5 mm thick opaque plexiglass plates as you mentionned. The one right above the aluminum plate has holes drilled to accomodate the thightening screw (bolt) of the switches. I was inspired by what I found on Duckling's website : http://www.strandedduckling.com/ (thank you Duckling for your contibution as well). You'll find a lot of answers there. The overlayer is coming from Reactorone's work (Many thanks R1 for sharing ! ;)). Print the overlayer on a photograph qualility paper if you can afford it and plastify it (I did this with the machine appearing on the back-ground of the first picture I posted). Allways glad to help in the way I can. I'm sure you will make it since I made it thanks to the amount of infos I found on this wonderful place. Beware, it's contagious ! :) Laurius
  8. Togg, you are absolutely right. I personnaly have interfaced the ELEC PWR and the AHCP panels with a GP WIZ40 and it works great. I used ON-OFF single pole-single throw swithes and ON-OFF-ON single pole-double thow switches (don't know their price. I got them where I work and they were offered to me since they were not used) Once everything is wired up correctly, go in the sim option page, select A-10C sim and AHCP in the scrolling menu. Then in the column assigned to your GP WIZ40, assigned the swith position to their corresponding function after having clicked on "ADD". Then you will have to tweak the .lua file corresponding to you WIZ. This file is found in WIndows/user/username/config/joystick/GPWIZ40. Edit it with Notepad++. This is necessary to make your switches momentary. If you don't do this, you will have the sequence described by TACNO. As an example for the TGP Switch (single throw switch) : {combos = {{key = "JOY_BTN17"}, }, down = iCommandPlaneAHCPTGPOnOff, up = iCommandPlaneAHCPTGPOnOff, name = "TGP switch ON/OFF", category = "Armament HUD Control Panel"}, For a double throw switch such as the GUN/PAC one: {combos = {{key = "JOY_BTN23"}, }, down = iCommandPlaneAHCPGUNPACArm, up = iCommandPlaneAHCPGUNSafe, name = "GUN/PAC switch ARM", category = "Armament HUD Control Panel"}, {combos = {{key = "JOY_BTN24"}, }, down = iCommandPlaneAHCPGUNArm, up = iCommandPlaneAHCPGUNSafe, name = "GUN/PAC switch GUNARM", category = "Armament HUD Control Panel"}, Commands in bold were added. This is how you make those switches momentary By the way, you'll see that wiring is quite easy from the documentation of the WIZ. The important thing is that you add modifiers properly in the option page of the Sim. Start always with switches in "OFF" and "SAFE" position in doing so My ELEC PWR panel was wired first so don't pay attention to the "JOY_BTN#" indicated here. Wire your switches to the WIZ as you wish and you'll find their number in the .lua file Hope that helps. If not PM me Laurius
  9. Allready seen that video but still awesome to watch. Thanks for posting. I really like the way the pilot is commenting his "adventure" and especially what the F-16 pilot told him. This latter would have never made it in such a successful way. Two engines (and two tails) are probably the best way to survive !!
  10. You're welcome Bignewy You are probably more advanced than I am, and I agree that there is a lot to learn from the experts posting here. I seriously consider going from my desk pit (pictures added in my profil yesterday) to a more realistic one for the A-10. I know it will be a long way to go... Please, keep posting your progress  Laurius
  11. Hi Bignewy ! I've been loving them from more than one year now, and still do. You're right in saying they are very easy to set up. Nice pit you have there ! Laurius
  12. Hi there, I own the Saitek combat rudder pedals and I'm fully satisfied with them. Before having them, I had the Saitek Flight rudder pedals but the tension wheel broke after one month and a half. The combat ones seem much more robust. So, if you can, go forward with the Saitek Combat ones. That said, I don't know much about the other products such as those from CH which also produces pedals. From what I know, the pedals are closer to each other but seem to be well appreciated also. Cheers Laurius
  13. Very strange but so poetic. Very nice. Thanks
  14. Hi Ramstein, Thank you for your interesting remarks. In fact I run only one copy, I think. I had the Steam version 1.1.0.9 on two computers : the actual one and an older one which is more or less sleeping now since few weeks. I just removed the Steam version from the actual computer and did the full install of the 1.1.1.1 version from DCS website. It's fine so far, at least with SP missions. I really don't know if I could have problems in joining Steam servers (and the others ?) as I haven't tried yet. What's for sure is that I will never try to run the sim (or even Steam ?) on both computers at the same time. Finally, I would just say that I was a bit nervous by doing this new instal as everthing was fine with the 1.1.0.9 Steam version and I didn't want to mess anything. But I remember of several posts here saying it's fine like this. Time will tell. Laurius
  15. Please, don't missunderstand me : I like Steam very much (I discovered DCS A10C thank to Steam also). But apparently, Steam is not able to keep this sim updated anymore. As an example, it took Steam nearly 3 weeks to automaticaly update the sim from 1.1.0.8 to 1.1.0.9 version in last august after patch release. Now the 1.1.1.0 is released since last mid november... Unless Steam is able to update from 1.1.0.9 to 1.1.1.1, which would be great, I doubt it will be for soon. I want to point out that I don't want to blame anybody since I don't know anything about how things are managed between Steam and other Editors. To conclude, If you bought the sim through Steam, you can do without Steam and update the sim by yourself by going to the DCS website and do a full instal of the latest version. The Steam key is all you need Laurius
  16. Hi Acare, I can feel you are bored on how Steam does not give very much support to this great sim. I just wanted to say : drop Steam. I was like you and now I am a former user of it. I removed my Steam version 2-3 weeks ago and then did a full instal of the 1.1.1.1 version from the DCS website. Everything went fine and everything is working nicely so far (except probably one SP mission downloaded from this forum...). I didn't even have to give my Steam key, since the new instal found it by itself somehow. But before removing anything of the Steam version of the sim, save your "DCS A10C" folder found in your "saved games" folder anywhere you want, remove everything and download the files (there are 4) using what is fastest for you (http, FTP or Torrent). I used FTP but Torrent is said much safer against file corruption. Hoping it can help Laurius
  17. Hi Everyone, I found that today and just wanted to share. Great sequences of low flying, air refuelling and many other stuffs ... Please relax and take your time, I hope you will enjoy it and be caught up as I was when I watched it. Cheers and happy new year to all of you :yay: Laurius
  18. Merry Christmas to everyone of you and happy flying holidays :yay:
  19. Hi there, just to give my two cents, I think it depends a lot on where you are and the kind of internet connection you have. If I may speak of my own case, I've just used FTP yesterday to fully download the 1.1.1.1 version (4 files). I have tried both FTP and HTTP (USA or GERMANY) and apparently FTP was much faster (Germany since I'm in France but I don't know what choice is let to others). I have downloaded the 4 files in less than 2 hours (strange things occuring with the .exe download though, but ignore...). Fresh full instal looks fine to me after flying a couple of SP missions. Although I like Steam very much, I'm glad I've left yesterday since Steam appears to not update this wonderfull sim anymore. Laurius
  20. Ange, thanks for sharing your Vimeo link. You got many others splendid videos there. Bravo ! ;)
  21. Kyletiernan, your video is really awesome and your music fabulous. Thank you for offering us such a masterpiece. I'm shivering every time I'm watching it
  22. I downloaded and watched the entire movie yesterday. A tremendously captivating story rendered in a very profesional fashion. An amazing masterpiece of Art. Thank you
  23. Hi, Thanks for sharing. It's nice and this website seems to have interesting stuffs
  24. It was me :(... I've just checked and they are really operating. Sorry for this stupid question that crossed my mind since this sim is the closest to reality you can find
  25. Hi, yes, a really nice video  Thank you. Already in my favourites It was also very interesting to see the leading edge slats opening and closing depending on the angles of attack of the Hog. I don't remember having seen them operating in the sim, but that's probably me ;)
