Dazu auch dieser Link: psu Tier List rev. 16.1A March 2023 Ich müsste mal schauen, ob es mittlerweile eine aktualisierte Liste gibt. Habe auch mal ein (unbekanntes) Netzteil erlebt, das sich spontan in übelriechenden Wohlgefallen verwandelt hat. Junge junge hab ich mich da erschrocken War zum Glück nicht mein Rechner sondern irgendein Dell oder HP von der Stange.

Undanks der in der Wissenschaft üblichen befristeten Verträge können wir ganz unzeremoniell und ohne viel Aufwand gegangen werden. Ich nehme also an, dass ich einen neuen Job brauche, es sei denn es ergibt sich relativ spontan in den nächsten Monaten doch noch eine andere, nachhaltig belastbare Lösung. Selbst dann würde ich mich auf jeden Fall nach anderen Stellen umschauen, wer weiß, die ein eventuelles alternatives Angebot vom AG dann tatsächlich aussieht. Falls es dazu kommt und falls unser Team im Wesentlichen komplett bleibt würde ich schon gerne dort bleiben, das sind allesamt coole Menschen und coole Aufgaben - ich kann mir sehr viele sehr viel weniger angenehme Arbeitsplätze vorstellen. Große Hoffnung mache ich mir im Moment nicht, lasse mich aber gerne positiv überraschen. Ich habe noch eine Frage zur Quest 3, die mir erst die Tage aufgefallen ist: Wofür gibt es die mit 128-512 GB Speicher?? Hat die quasi eine Art Steam Deck im Headset integriert und läuft unabhängig von PC oder Handy, sozusagen wie eine Spielkonsole? Braucht man den Speicher um DCS oder andere PC-Spiele zu spielen, bzw. hast du schon mal "zu wenig" Speicher in deiner Quest gehabt? Mein Eindruck ist, dass das für die Nutzung am PC Wurscht sein müsste und es für den Zweck auch die billigste Variante mit wenig Speicher tun sollte.

Vielen Dank @Landei für die Test-Session vergangene Woche! Ich habe echt mit einer Quest 3 geliebäugelt, jedenfalls bis ich in dieser Woche erfahren habe, dass unser Betrieb geschlossen und meine Abteilung abgewickelt wird.

Kein Problem Ich gehe ganz vorläufig davon aus, dass ich um ca. 10:30 Uhr losfahre und nicht ganz zwei Stunden zu dir unterwegs bin. Für alles Weitere schreibe ich dir nächste Woche eine PM. Besser wird's nur bei The Warthog Project! Das wird meinen selbst-auch-kaufen-will-Reflex auf jeden Fall ansprechen Merci Ich denke gerade an Stirnlampen oder Schnorchelmasken, die die umgekehrte Reihenfolge mitunter mit einem sattem klatsch auf den Riechzinken belohnen. o.O Genial. Genau meine Sache. Falls ich mir die Investition in VR irgendwann rechtfertigen kann wird das mit Sicherheit eine sinnvolle Ergänzung sein. Da fragt man sich fast, ob ich mir solche Linsen auch in ein Gestell einschleifen lassen kann, als billige Ersatz-/Zweitbrille (oder Sonnenbrille) ohne besondere Entzerrung, hohen Brechungsindex und anderen Schnickschnack. Meine normalen Gläser kosten ohne Fassung reichlich 400 Euro, da hab ich mir die Ersatzbrille bisher immer zweimal überlegt und die alte (mit anderen Werten und abgenutzten Gläsern) hergenommen.

Also am 14.04. (Sonntag) fahre von Amsterdam nach Leipzig, da kann ich mich statt auf die A30 auch kurzerhand auf die A3 verirren Nur zur Zeitplanung kann ich noch nicht viel sagen, das kommt kurzfristig drauf an wie die Schwiegereltern morgens aus dem Bett kommen. Falls dir das passen würde und sich das konkretisiert schreibe ich dir demnächst eine PN.

Off-topic: Is there a separate existing bug report open for this somewhere? The water wave surface "moving" with the reflections is quite obviously not right, and confused the heck outta me more than once.

Falls ich mal dreist in die Runde fragen darf - ist in diesem Sinne jemand hier im größeren Raum Leipzig oder so 1-2 Stunden entfernt und geneigt, mir als "pancake-user" die wunderbare VR-Welt näherzubringen? Ich biete einfach mal an Pizza und Kaltgetränke mitzubringen (Edit: Ich hab auch einen Leap Motion Controller im Schrank, bei Interesse würde ich den auch mitbringen.) Als Handicap trage ich ne Brille (Stärke "Maulwurf"...). Alternativ Kontaktlinsen, aber das ist eher eine Notlösung. Besteht Hoffnung?

Is there by now a way to use Leap Motion in 2D mode, not just in VR? I don't do VR, and while the controller works if I force DCS into VR mode, that's obviously not entirely ideal for actual use. If there's a mod/workaround (in lack of official 2D support) that'd be most excellent.

Correct, DCS currently (as far as I know) requires DCS to run in VR mode in order to activate the Leap Motion. And then there's this: That'd be sweet - and indeed: The Leap controller and the TrackIR camera work in parallel and do not interfere with each other (I've tried it, both in the control programs and in DCS itself). If you use a normal 2D monitor (no VR headset) and force DCS to run in VR mode, you can, in fact, use both Leap Motion and TrackIR together - not that it were useful, because rendering the left/right eye viewports besides each other on a normal screen is (literally) unplayable. But that's not due to the Leap or TrackIR, just a result of DCS requiring VR for Leap. Unless ED allows for Leap Motion to be used in 2D that won't work. Alternatively, if someone knows about a tool that can force DCS VR mode into pancake mode (I am aware that this sounds extremely silly, and generally it is!) or unlocks Leap in 2D, it could be made to work. Unfortunately I do not think such workarounds exist - if they do, please let me know, I'd love to use them, too!

I'm mostly digging up this old thread in hope of a change/workaround during the last two years. Maybe someone knows of a tool or tweak to use Leap Motion in 2D mode? Yep, well, at least for all practical purposes. Technically, you can make DCS run in VR mode (even with only a 2D screen, with no VR headset) with the start option --force_enable_VR, and then you can enable and use the Leap Motion controller. However, without a VR headset, that will show the left and right eyes' viewports side by side, which doesn't do any good - so it is not a feasible workaround.

It's Digital Combat Simulator, not coffee with in-laws simulator. War is by design unfair and unbalanced, unless both sides do it wrong. MP gameplay balance is not a consideration here. In a simulator, real-world data and capabilities are what makes a feature, and after that available (read: funded) dev time. If the simulator sucks you'll have to ask God for a universe reboot (or not play the game, ahem, simulator). It seems like either the A-10 cannot carry those munitions, or there is not enough time on EDs end to properly implement the feature. Alas, it is not there.
