  1. By analyzing the handshake between the plane and satellite, they were able to determine that the plane's last location is above the southern region of the Indian Ocean far from any land. The time of the last connection between the satellite and the plane is also near where the fuel is estimated to run out. Therefore one way or another, the plane would have gone down near it's last known location. I guess it's going to be a long process of recovery now, and I hope they will recover the wreckage, flight data, and understand what really happened.
  2. Its not cheaper actually. He said subscription. 1 year may be $25 each, but you only have access for one year. 2 years will be $50 each in total, and access for that 2 years only. If you plan on playing for 3 years, that will be 75$ each. And after that you still lose all access unless you continue paying. Subscription-based is ALWAYS more expensive in the long run. Its a horrifying model.
  3. Same here. I couldn't stay logged in on Chrome. Had to use IE9
  4. Thanks guys for the replies. Bought it yesterday, and just like several other users here, I spend the entire day reading the manual trying to figure out how to use it.:joystick: Turns out I need to use the mission editor and enable pilot to control other vehicle.:P Hopefully future updates will enable easier access in single player missions if possible. Amazing addition to DCS nevertheless, love messing around with the tank
  5. Go easy on him, I think Rhinox has the common misconception that a video game size says something about the video game quality, at least in terms of content and visual fidelity. :P DCS World is different from other game. Its more of a sandbox style digital battlefield simulation. All the assets are already in place, they have always been since earlier modules like A-10 and so on. The tanks, the anti aircraft and so on are all already there. But they were not playable by design. CA basically introduce a new way of how you can interact with this virtual battlefield. Now it enables you to have more control over the battlefield in real time, you can control each individual vehicles, you can direct the battles and so on. It does brings new gameplay, it just doesn't need additional assets like textures, models and so on because it utilizes what's already in place. I guess to be fair to Rhinox, DCS World does introduce a completely different kind of video game, one that many gamers are not familiar with.
  6. One of the things I enjoyed in past flight sim was evading SAM with an F/A-18 :P Understandably, we can't pull those stunts with an A-10, but I am looking forward to doing that in future fighter modules :D
  7. I understand that multiplayer offers a better gaming experience. Lets just assume I'm a weirdo who doesn't play multiplayer :P I really don't like committing myself to a multiplayer session in any game. So what kind of experience can I get out of playing CA single player only? Is there any AI to help make a game feel like say, I'm playing against a responsive opponent? Or are they just dummies sitting around waiting to get shot at? Thanks ;)
  8. Alright, thanks guys. No big deal, should be done in a day time :D
  9. At this part of the world, with a 2MBps line, it will take me an entire day to download everything, lol. Still, a huge thanks to everyone at ED for your continuous support of your products, which is more than what I can say for many other video games company.
  10. I just finished downloading the previous version yesterday, lol. Is it necessary to redownload everything?
  11. A perfect birthday gift for myself this weekend. Thank you everyone at ED :D:beer::worthy:
  12. Looking at these screenshots is like looking at a Ferrari. Nice to look at but completely out of reach :( Please release it this week. :helpsmilie:
  13. If I understood correctly, currently the only module available for A-10 in DCS World is a beta module?
  14. I completely agree with this. And I think that highlighted part is very important. I believe there will be a market for a module even if its level of fidelity or realism isn't on par with DCS. Not every fans out there needs the most realistic flight sim they can have in their PC. So the most important thing is to let everyone know exactly what they will be getting out of a module. That way, we can avoid any harsh criticism. Or at least I hope that will be the case. As someone said earlier, we're not forced to buy every module being made. If a module isn't up to our requirement, then we just don't buy it, but let others have it if they want. Most important thing is we know what to expect, so there won't be any users who paid for a module expecting something more than what it can offer. It would be unfair to criticize a module that isn't on par with DCS' own standard when we have to choice to simply not buy it.
  15. +1 to the previously mentioned SR-71 Being a gunner for the AC 130 would be amazing too.
  16. LOL @ Train Sim :P Well, in all seriousness, have you guys considered making military ground vehicle sims? Say, a M-1 Abrams tank simulator for example, or the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. It can even be further expanded to include classical WW2 tanks! There are many video games out there that features arcade-style tank gameplay (World of Tanks, Battlefield series, etc), I'm sure some of us fans would love to try our hands on a realistic tank sim. ;)
  17. No one's forcing you to use Steam. Is it a bad thing that others are allow to have a choice? ;) I already have the game in my Steam library as do others too. Last thing I need is to buy another copy separately.
  18. Will this game be on Steam? I already own the A-10 there, would be great if I can keep all games under the same library.
  19. Nice. Can't wait to see the model assembled . I was a huge fan military aviation too. Had a F-117A and F-16 model made by Tamiya. My dream model was the huge B-52 but I couldn't afford it :P Anyway that was oh so long ago. I still am a fan, just somehow my hobby these days is restricted to just playing flight sim like the DCS A-10 :joystick:
  20. Hello there. Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to everyone here:) When I was a kid I was always been fascinated by airplanes, particularly military aircraft. And needless to say the next best thing to actually flying a plane is to play a sim that anyone can buy and install on their computer :D . So I had an F/A-18 (I believe its based off Jane's F/A-18 set in the Korean peninsular) and I spent months learning and playing that title. I continued playing it for several years until eventually new technology was introduced to PC such as high resolution and wide screen format and my focus shifted towards mainstream games. So its been years since I played that F/A-18 sims and somehow my interest for flight sims got lost. On and off I check back to see if there was any new titles that could take advantage of the ever faster PC hardware in the market but none interest me. That is until DCS's A-10 which I came to notice early this year;) . I was still on the fence with this title as I wasn't sure if I would mind the lack of dogfight with an A-10 sim. But when I saw it was only 40 USD on Steam, I knew this is the right time for me to revive my interest in flight sim. Time to fly an aircraft in my computer again, this time more realistic than ever :joystick: Here's a huge huge thanks to everyone in DCS for making another realistic combat flight sim, for being that company who still works on this genre that few others would invest in. I hope my purchase of A-10 will be a small token of encouragement for DCS to continue making great combat flight sim in the future :smilewink: Sorry for the long post. I'm just excited. Few more hours to go till Steam finish installing it:D
