Everyone approved up to this point. Welcome guys! Looking forward to meeting you. I just wanted to point out we are currently working on some specific training missions to help members get up to speed. This of course is all being put together on a voluntary basis by some of our more seasoned pilots. But we want to focus a bit more on being able to get everyone up to speed and on the same page when running missions together. This has all come about in part due to the fact we are a quickly growing community and are seeing the number of participants rise during our sessions. Granted we will have full missions as always. But these training missions will be purely focused on particular tasks or skills, ie how to use the CDU, take advantage of data links, weapons and much more. This is also being done with the mindset that we will be online helping those of you out interested in taking part in the training missions as well. For more details please visit our site. Cheers, B1

Just wanted to give a quick shout out and warm welcome to our new members. As Super mentioned, I'm on FSF everyday so I see new apps rather quickly. Rest assured that if for whatever reason you are still waiting approval, it usually only takes 24 hours, 48 at the most. However, everyone should be approved up to this point. We've also been running some FSX events as well. I know this is a DCS forum, but just wanted to throw that out there. Currently this is where most of my time is being spent as we're currently doing an around the world tour. I'm also a big fan of the FC3 F-15, so I look forward to getting back into that soon as well. So if I haven't met you yet, rest assured I'm around. ;) I do look forward to meeting you guys and will probably get to see you all at our next FSF Event. So with that, welcome to the FSF community! Cheers, B1

Hey LawnDart, I see the times you guys practice, but on what days do you all normally get together? Cheers, B1

Everyone approved! You should have an approval email. I look forward to flying with you guys. On a side note - we had the privilege of taking to the FC2 skies with the Dutch Flanker Display Team today (Monday August 6th) and it was a blast. I realize formation flight isn't everyone's cup o' tea, but just gives those interested in checking out FSF an idea of our varied interests. I think most of us put permanent finger indentations on the sticks today. After things began getting a bit late and DFDT had to turn in, we continued practicing holding formation in various yet mild maneuvers in the SU-27. If you'd like to see how some of our members are progressing in the A10, check out our homepage video where some of the guys practiced drawing hearts using smoke pods and various other maneuvers such as trail braking over the runway followed by landing in the DCS World A10c. We also fly the Blackshark, the SU-25 and the P-51 Mustang and run various missions. Again - welcome aboard to those of you who are new and I look forward to meeting and flying with you soon! Cheers, B1

Thank you! :smilewink: -
Hey guys, Thought I'd announce this here on the ED forums as well. We've been reviving FC2 in our own community recently by holding a RED vs BLUE dog fight event. March 12th, Monday @ 2000 gmt we've got a 4 vs 4 planned, but can be increased depending on how many people we have RSVP. Come check us out www.Flight-Sim-Fanatics.com and go to the following link for details: (you must register with FSF as only members have access to our TS server (ie slots are limited). We also use Hamachi. Information on it can be found in the General section > Hamachi testing and feedback. http://flight-sim-fanatics.com/index.php?topic=498.0 We're all about having fun and sharing in the comraderie! Cheers, B1

I appreciate the heads up, even though I already knew about it from the forums. I think 2012 is going to be an exciting year!! I just hope ED is able to get all this done before the end of the world... haha

Long time GT fan here from back in the day. Haven't played GT5 in while. Sheese so many games to play, so little time to play em. Never grow older, get a job and incur debt. Stay home as long as you can...LOL Never raced online though. I remember reading the online sessions were usually filled with a bunch of people just screwing around. But if there are some serious racers, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot! Can I bring my Minolta? :P

For whats its worth (and for those of you that live close to one) I found a hard copy of this game at Walmart of all places. Great mindless fun for a change of pace. :smilewink: Now all I need to do is get used to the PS3 controls... lol

Hey Mr. Burns, just saw your add the other night, thanks! I started out as Assault class, built it up a bit than went over to the Engy role. I find I actually enjoy it more. I like using the vehicles, so I think this role is more befitting. Plus I've been tagged so many times by tanks/helis in the Assault role, I kinda like being able to fight back if on foot with the Engy. Aside from the normal callout of course. :smilewink:

Haven't read through the entire thread, but seems some of you have brought up the topic of teamplay, or lack thereof in BF3. I'm often at the behest of the same circumstances when I jump into a server with everyone runnin & gunnin, taking off in vehicles by themselves and what have you. For those of you interested in teamplay, why don't you post your BF3 ingame nick so we can at least get a running list of people that DO use team tactics. I can't tell you how many times I've wished I had someone watching my back as much as I've watched others. Or times I've gone to get in a vehicle to be someone's gunner just to have them take off. Although I realize everyone has their reasons based on the stupid things people do. I promise not to give away our position in a tank/jeep by just randomely shooting at things. lol. Anyway - my nick is B1helios. Please feel free to add me. I mostly run the conquest large maps, but I'm open to other game types as well. Platform: PC Timezone: U.S. MDT Days I'm usually on: Tuesdays, late morning/early afternoon Cheers, B1

Just a quick thought. Assuming ED stays on track with all of this. How feasible is it going to be for someone hosting the server to run all of these addons? I guess a better question is, how will all of this be implemented in the online environment so as to not bring whoever is hosting's computer to its knees? Secondly, are there plans to allow game hosting companies to offer dedicated servers for all the DCS series of aircraft? Other than that, I don't mean to sound like a pessimist, by far! I'm very excited to see that these are all, 'tentatively', in the works.

Just a few shots from one of our members, Sense, of our Monday Oct 31st MP session. Hope you don't mind me showcasing your screenies Sense. :smilewink:

Might be your first thread, but obviously not your first movie. If so you're very talented. ;) Nice job! If only my efforts in Sony Vegas could come remotely close to that I'd be happy.

Hey SuperSheep, We'd be happy to have you out. I did just go through and make some reg approvals. I hope you were in there. ;D We are definitely geared towards the casual side of things and most of our members are still learning these awesome sims. We do have some well practiced pilots as well who are always willing to help out and answer questions. We've actually got an A10C session schedule today at 1900 gmt (in about 30 min), come on out if you have the time. Looking forward to flying with ya! :pilotfly: B1

I've learned that most times, anything worthwhile requires alot of monkey work in the beginning. Admittedly with the DCS products (including FC2), I found alot of initial frustration. Not only in learning the sims, but configuring all the commands. The more I learn, the more I am beginning to enjoy them! ;) Also flying with others makes a huge difference hands down.
-
Thanks MTF. Ya know I am finally starting to memorize some of this stuff. But looking at pages 83 - 87 in the DCS A10 flight manual is still quite overwhelming.. lol:helpsmilie:

Good point! I remember reading something about this while learning how to employ the AGM's, ie, DMS right short (I think) was used to select the AGM profile. I'll try using this method as well. Admittedly a bit frustrating at first, but I'm having alot of fun learning this bird. Cheers,
-
Aha.. ok, so activating the profile was the missing step then. I thought saving the profile activated it? **EDIT** ok, just read I have to go back into the profile and hit, 'Act-Pro', to activate it. Thanks for the quick response MTF. ;)

Hey all, Hoping some of you might be able to answer my question on deploying the GBU-12. After using point track mode on the TGP and making my target SPI (TMS forward long), I set up the profile in the DSMS for the GBU-12. Autolase is on, CCRP is set and profile is saved. As I understand, I can turn on the, 'Latch', function on the TGP to manually fire the laser, however, I thought that b/c I'm using autolase, I don't need to have that feature enabled. But I'm missing my intended target with the GBU-12's. Altitude at bomb release is 9k. Oh and I'm also setting the LS function to 10 seconds in the GBU-12 profile. This should fire the laser during the last 10 seconds of the GBU's flight before impact if I'm understanding it correctly. I apologize in advance as I didn't even think to save a track file. But if need be I can do so the next time I run this particular bombing mission. Cheers, B1
