I don't use the vapor argument for the shock cone, so the pilot can turn it on and off whenever he/she likes, not just at high speed. (Have to be in the #5 or #6 jet to get it to work in the VBA mod). I could be wrong, but I think the in-game Lock-On vapor might be a shader - if so, I can't help with modifying that. I haven't looked into how to modify the in-game wingtip vapor to look like over wing vapor. (I believe that is what SuperKF is after).

I tried to register at sim-mod, but it wouldn't let me (wrong confirmation data, or something, then it locked me out! - I'll try again later)

Graphics problems: Vista 64, 8800GT and Nvidia Drivers
kato217 replied to CrashEd's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Not sure if this has anything to do with your specific graphics problems in Vista, but Talon posted some fixes here: http://www.virtualblueangels.net/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=1196 -
Hours and hours of experimenting with the model - lol Thanks for all the great comments. Of course this is actually an F/A-18B not an F/A-18D (there are subtle differences between the two). I didn't see the original post, but what Majesco has written now is fine by me :) (looks like you have a few cockpit textures missing on the instrument cowel and ejection seats for some reason) ...and yes it is a totally new model for Lock On. Sponge - if I had fully understood your question I would have answered it more precisely, but in an attempt to answer it anyway, the afterburners you see are part of the VBA mod, not a separate mod.

Thanks to all for your great comments - they are much appreciated. Ice, nice to see you after such a long time - do you realize we were going off to battle in the F-15's over 4 years ago! To answer the other questions about how do I get the hand signals or shock cone to work, you can see all the key mapping in the readme window of Modman, or in game from the main menu - click the "VBA" link on the left hand side for info on the Aircraft, Blue Angels, and the mod (including key mapping). However, specifically to answer the above questions, pilot visor animation is with canopy down, hand signals are with flaps down, and shock cone is on the #5 and #6 jets only by pressing Ctrl-L Also, it's best to remap the chaff/flares key (Q key) to just flares (delete key) ;)

F/A-18A replaces F-15 F/A-18B replaces F-15 C-130 replaces C-130!! I'm afraid I'm a bit busy with the next mod to do a more weaponized version, although I'm thinking of putting a Super Hornet in just to fly around with it!

Widescreen users: If you use a batch file or LO CFG to start Lock-On, you may see some in game models as all white instead of textured. Airone posted the fix here (Always backup files before editing - You can find "Graphics.cfg" in this folder c:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Config): Kato Mod is using some compressed textures in cdds files. To have these files "active", you need to add lines into Graphics.cfg file to specify the existence and folder where you have these files. So kato had chosen the options to include them directly in a raw/native graphics.cfg file. The counter effect is after installing the mod, your lockon is as he were when a baby in terms of graphics configuration... So now two options for you. Or you do a saving of your custom graphic.cfg, and you add manually the lines needed like i will detail below, or you install Kato mod and while in the game, you reset your graphic configuration to your habits. Some of us are using external program like LO CFG, to set special size for flat screen, we then need to adjust the graphic.cfg manually by adding the textures directory. Make sure the following lines are included in your graphic.cfg file, under Texturescollections, your text should be : ... common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\VBAbmp.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\VBAtga.cdds"; ... IF NOT, add Kato lines if not already included: TextureCollections { highFolder = ".\\Bazar\\TempTextures\\"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesBMP.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesTGA.cdds"; spring = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesSprBMP.cdds"; spring = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesSprTGA.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesSumBMP.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesSumTGA.cdds"; autumn = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesAutBMP.cdds"; autumn = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesAutTGA.cdds"; winter = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesWinBMP.cdds"; winter = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesWinTGA.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\MapTexturesBMP.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Effects\\EffectTexturesTGA.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\TexturesBMP_weapons.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\WorldTexturesTGA2.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\WorldTexturesTGA.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\WorldTexturesBMP2.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\WorldTexturesBMP.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\WorldTexturesBMP1.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\ShipTexturesBMP.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\ShipTexturesTGA.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\CockpitsTexturesBMP.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\CockpitsTexturesTGA.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Effects\\effects.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\Cockpit-SU25T-TexturesBMP.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\Cockpit-SU25T-TexturesTGA.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\VBAbmp.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\VBAtga.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\WorldTexturesTGA1.cdds"; }

VFAT 2007 Preliminary Registration Thread
kato217 replied to Frazer's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
We discussed who was going to fly which MiG a long time ago in the VFAT forums here: http://vfat.virtual-jabog32.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=27 The Red Arrows are flying the MiG-29A on their Hawk. I'm afraid it's too late to change now, sorry. OK, this is fixed This is fixed too. I hope the Ukrainian Falcons, APA, and all the other MiG-29 users don't mind having your exhaust nozzle color as well since you all use that same file. Also, if possible, please post Mod issues on the VFAT forum. There are now at least 4 threads with mod issues - it's hard to keep up with them all. Thanks -

The earlier the better, but I would guess no later that 4 weeks before the event, so mid October. There are always unforseen bugs to eliminate. I was up all night fixing a last minute bug in the 2005 VFAT mod!! Thanks -

Should be no problem Airone - I'll just need the .max file when I put the mod together. -

1) Use the same tutorial for creating lights as in the lock-on models forum thread that you have seen here: http://www.lockon-models.com/index.php?showtopic=221 2) To get the Nav lights to be 360 degrees visible, don't use a sphere, use a series of crossed planes. For the right Nav light, map "bano-green.tga" to each plane. That gives the 360 degree visibility effect. Repeat using "Bano-red.tga" for the left Nav light. Hope that helps!
-
Thanks - glad I was able to help with the landing lights:thumbup: For the Nav lights, if you don't want to use the tga with the red and green on the same tga, then use "Bano-red.tga" for the red nav light and "Bano-green.tga for the green. They are both found in "WorldTexturesTGA.cdds". Hope that helps

Landing lights only work when gear down!!!
kato217 replied to icemaker's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Try mapping your external lights to argument 49 "Navigation Lights". You can then turn them on and off in game with with "Ctrl-L" -
I believe the light beam on the ground is hard coded into the sim, so it may not be possible to add another light reflection and move the existing A-10 ground reflection. I think it's part of the shader code, which means 3DS won't be able to change the light reflection. Perhaps if someone knows how to edit shaders, that would help. I was able to turn the landing light and the nav lights on and off on the aircraft with help from Gys71, but not the beam that reflects off the ground. You may have already seen this thread: http://www.lockon-models.com/index.php?showtopic=221
