  1. If I remember correctly you can disable it with "ALT-H"
  2. I guess before anyone dies from vibration the helicopter will simply desintegrate. The forces acting when a blade is lost are immense; I don't think any helicopter will sustain them for more than a few seconds.
  3. You don't have to install it via steam. In steam go to your game library and click "Add a game" in the lower left corner, followed by "Add a non-steam game" and then browse your current DCS install and select the DCS exe. Problem is though, that as soon as you start a flight, steam will not recognize you playing anymore, as DCS starts another instance of itself. You could however start DCS with the following parameters: "--net-mode gui" so it would start directly in MP mode, and you should have the overlay and steam will show you as "Playing DCS"...
  4. I'm sorry to hear that the mod crashes or produces other problems for some of you guys. I wasn't able to reproduce any of them unfortunately. As soon as I find out something about this, I will do an update.
  5. I'll have a look into that. Edit: You're right, the mod increases the loading time dramaticly. Mine went up from 20 to ca. 50 seconds. I think this is because normally DCS uses precompiled shaders. When you edit an FX file DCS will notice this and compile it at each startup. I'm sorry, but I think there's nothing I can do about that.
  6. In the temptexture directory there was one file called "Airfield_LampBW.dds". This is the texture that describes the look of the Airfield beacons. I created my own texture for the beacon and named it "LampBW.dds" as i found that name in a ZIP. When I noticed that didn't change anything in the game, I copied my own "LampBW.DDS" and replaced the original "Airfield_LampBW.dds" with it. The "LampBW.DDS" in the TempTexture dir probably has no effect, but i let it in anyhow as i wasn't sure about it. If you wanted to modify the looks of the airfield beacon it would probably be enough to change "Airfield_LampBW.dds".
  7. Your right, probably that file could be deleted. When I searched for the beacon texture I found this file in a Zip, but when I changed it nothing happened. I copied it and renamed it to "Airfield_LampBW.dds" and it worked, but I let the other file in... Maybe the terrain mod modified the Sprite Shader? Are you sure it cant load the GUI, or does it display something like "GUI Error: ****"
  8. That's nice to hear. To be honest I don't think this mod could really lead to the game crashing at all, as it's only minor shader modifications and one replaced texture. Nothing deep. Still it would be good to see a crash log, maybe we can elaborate what leads to the crash.
  9. Mhh, thats strange. Do you use FC3? I could'nt test it with that as I don't have it. Could you post a crash log maybe? Does it crash at startup, or sometime mid game? You can revert the changes by using "Repair DCS" by the way. Edit: What DCS version did you use? I tested only in 1.2.6
  10. Sale is online :)
  11. Don't worry, those are the weekend offers. The sale will most probably start at 1900, at least in germany that is. I don't know if steam uses individual time zones or if they just start the sale at the same time everywhere.
  12. Hi, the bulky canopy crazings and old looking Airfield beacons kind of bugged me, so I created this little mod and thought I would share it with you. Basicly it rescales the crazing texture and refines the beacons to look more light bright lights, rather than painted blobs. Note that the new beacons only apply to the "old" airports that do not yet have the remastered effects that came with the warthog. Edit: Fixed a small bug, that made the crazings moving with your POV. Beacons_Crazings.zip
  13. My DCS.exe was last modified on september the 4th 2013. To modify an *.exe you need to recompile it. To recompile it you need modified sourcecode. Let them add and modify dynamic libraries, that's why those were invented. I've got the strange feeling, that ED know what they're doing considering flightsim development.
  14. The x52 unfortunately comes with some software bugs that probably won't get fixed anymore. Sometimes mine resets the LED colour, or the profiles don't work until i restart the profiler. Also the letters on my MFD are scrambled up, seemingly because of the CPU being to fast... Although I can't recall having the exact same issue as you do I'm pretty sure it's just another bug in saiteks drivers and not a particular problem with your device. Don't get me wrong though, the x52 is still a great joystick and I never had a problem with it in DCS that would've been a gamebreaker (I can live with just green LEDs just as well ;) )
  15. Correct, and although you could see the repetition they were ok. I looked into the texture files and saw, that it still uses the p-51 scratch texture, just stretched along the whole window, which obviously the 256x256 texture wasn't intended for. EDIT: Played around with the shaders, results below: View in full size, it's aliased in the resized version
  16. Hi, in version 1.2.5 the huey had very fine scratches on the glass, reflecting the sun and creating a pretty neat effect. Now in 1.2.6 the scratches are bulky and the texture resolution is way too low... it's looking kind of ugly now :( It's not a big problem, but it's definetly worse than before, so if it get's fixed in the next version, that'd be cool :)
  17. Apply some lubricant (I use Liquid Moly, "Schmierfix") on the silver "dish" and on the spring endings if your x52 doesn't feel smooth or if the crackling is getting to loud. Wipe away the remains, so that dust doesn't settle too fast. If theres too much dust on it, wipe everything away and lubricate again. Those noises I can hear in the video sound normal, and my x52 sounds similar, although you can minimize them by lubricating. I use my x52 for more than a year now, hadn't had any hardware problems in spite of those noises...
  18. I deleted the "cockpit" folder in the mods directory of the huey and then started the "repair dcs". Everything works now.
  19. I reseted my controls and the throttle axis works somehow now. I can see the Throttle turning analogue to my input, but it only has effect when I turn it to 100%. There is no intermediate throttle settings, just 0 or 100% power.
  20. That faint sound you hear is the barrels turning. The actual firing sound is missing.
  21. Same here, I turned on the Lamp, tried different settings on the brightness knob, but i can't see any reticle, no matter what angle i'm looking through it. :(

    Huey wish list

@Sundowner.pl: Brilliant! That's pretty much exactly what I'd like to have :)

I already marked targets using the minigun. Kind of works, although its not exactly... discreet

    Huey wish list

I always feel a little out of place in my Huey, because the weapons don't provide to much use in Coop missions in comparison to an A-10c. I'd therefore recomment to add some kind of target designator, be it a laser marker, or an IR beam that players in the A-10c can see, so that the Huey could at least mark targets to make it easier for the other pilots. Multicrew also is a must have for me, but I read this is in development already. Also: You can never have enough choise of weapons... ;)
