  1. I don't have my fireproof flamewar protection gear handy right now, so I will pass on that :-) Also I would post something like: "If only they had one platform and would provide modules as kind of a plugin, so when they update one, the other modules would be updated to. Since that would often result in some work to adapt the modules I would even be willing to pay some small extra fee, given that I could choose not to update my previous build module... oh wait, they did exactly that... never mind" I suppose that comment would get me killed so I keep it here where people are more open minded. so long Mathias
  2. Hmm... why not simply call it a "open beta" for yourself? The "stable" version is still available so I cannot see any difference. What I hope for is, that the fixes to bugs like the one regarding FFB are released as soon as they are ready, even if the patch is really small and doesn't change anything else. so long Mathias
  3. I am using a g940 in combination with Saiteks Combat Rudder Paddles and just recently bought a Cougar Throttle which I will fit with a BU0836X. Nevertheless, my squad mates are using the regular Evo or the Logitech stick with twist rudder and integrated throttle. They are pretty good with it, if not better (sometimes :) ). For one of them, I created a layout for the cheap Logitech which consisted everything essential. The trick is to use more than one modifier. This way, you can use the hat switch for three different things and every other key also. If you design a layout, think about what you will need simultaneously and what would fit together. In this Layout I used 2 keys on the base of the stick as modifier and got, for example: Button x = Trim, Button x + Mod A = reset Trim, Button x + Mod B = Route AP on/off Hatswitch = view controll, Hatswitch + Mod A = Shkval controll, Hatswitch + Mod B = Weapon selection since you hold Mod A when you slew the Shkval, you want to have Lock Target and Trackinggate size increase/decrease also bound to a button and Mod A combination. I would love to post the layout, but this lad just recently met a girl and wasn't online ever since. Damn real life... so long Mathias
  4. Ok, I have some tips to share too :) There are just a few things that could turn the shark while hovering: wind: check if your autopilots are on and you don't have the flight director overwrite engaged rudder trim/autopilot trim: hold the trim button, stop the rotation, release the trim button route autopilot: check the if the switch on the collective is on autoturn on target: check if the according button is lighted [*]Hover popup: Getting height is easy. Just remember to hold the collective brake while climbing up. To decent without a getting into a vortex ring state, there is a button on the collective called auto-decent our something like that. Remember that this button works as an autopilot function, so its authority is limited [*]Vikhr range: You will be allowed to fire and hit most of the time when the two circles in the hud are on over the other and your distance is less then 7km. If you want to fire at a longer distance or just don't want to align the shark everytime perfectly while in a auto hover auto turn, set the weapon computer to manual. The switch is below the master arm switch [*]Learn to fly with the autopilot as a help, not an enemy. Try to push/hold the trimmer button frequently to adjust for changed flight attitude. If you befriend with it, after a while you delegate more and more work to it. Just strafing around a corner is a lot of fun when your autopilot does all the work an you are free to look for targets. [*]
  5. Same here. I owe you already PeterP, for sneaking at your computer as soon as your gf left  so long Mathias
  6. Are there any news yet? so long Mathias P.S.: I am using a g940 and have this issue, so has a friend of mine using the Saitek Evo Force. Because of that, I reckon its not a FFB2 specific issue.
  7. Sweet thanks :-) Can't wait to see your WT&BS2 missions. so long Mathias
  8. Maybee this track will help. I know its no great flying but it shows how the autopilot is pulling up when in normal mode and how he is not in FD mode. so long Mathias EDIT: If I more tracks or specific data is needed, feel free to ask Autopilot.trk
  9. So there is no pulling up or rolling? Could you post your profiler and BS1 + BS2 settings?
  10. It seems they have broken the FFB in BS2: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80992
  11. Its the same with the g940, see: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80934
  12. Is the force feedback supposed to be off when I hold the trimmer? Didn't know that. so long Mathias
  13. I suppose I have the same problem. My Shark is pulling up when I release the trimmer and rolls if I fly at high speed. Its fine in FD mode though. I will have another look into it this evening. so long Mathias
  14. Ok, the same problem has been reported in another thread (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80934). Maybee it is really some FFB setting I screwed up... so long Mathias
  15. I suppose I had the same Problem. I deleted all occurrences of my BS1 activation key. After that, I was asked to reactivate BS1 and after that, the installation of BS2 finally started. Edit: Oh, I just saw that you only have one activation left, so this approach is not an option for you. Maybe its a language problem. Make sure that 1.0 and 1.0.1c are English versions. so long Mathias
  16. Thanks for the answer Nate. I will check it again and compare it with BS 1.0.2, because the autopilot feels different. so long Mathias
  17. Have there been any changes to the autopilot in BS2? I am unable to trim the new one to a straight line. It is deliberately rolling my Ka-50. Also he tends to pitch up a lot, almost as if you have the route mode engaged. The trimmer itself works fine and if I use the Flight Govener Override, I have no issues at all. But as soon as I turn it off, I roll into a curve. so long Mathias
  18. Thanks!!!! After I deleted the key out of my registry, it is now working :-) so long Mathias
  19. Ok, I tried it again -> still no joy. I also discovered that neither BS 1.0.0 nor BS 1.0.1c is asking for my key. Are they for free now?
  20. Have the same issue and tested it with 1.0.0 and 1.0.1c. I am currently redownloading 1.0.0 to try again... Just a quick idea: shouldn't I have to enter my bs1 key somewhere? I wasn't asked during the install and also was not ask afterwards...
  21. Well, you cant. The DCS is at last for networking, depending on the Windows API. I am pretty sure they are using a lot more Windows libraries or external libraries that are only available on Windows. so long Mathias
  22. It does not have to be a Linux program. You can setup a Windows environment in a virtual machine or with wine pretty easy. A client without starforce and maybe without direct3d would work. so long Mathias
  23. A Linux based dedicated server doesn`t work. I tried to use one of my mostly unused boxes to set up an open dedicated server for Black Shark, running some of Dragons fine missions. But it is simply not possible. For everyone else who is trying the same, here a list of things I tried: qemu-kvm based virtulisation: not possible because the server needs direct3d xen based virtualisation: not possible because the server needs direct3d virtualbox based virtualisation: not possible with Version 1.0.2 because of starforce wine based virtualisation: not possible with Version 1.0.2 because of starforce Thats the point when I stopped trying and started hoping that ED will provide a dedicated server. If you cannot play with it, it doesn`t need starforce or an activation key since and hopefully could work without 3d support. The advent of a common DCS backend for BlackShark, A-10C and hopefully FC2 might be a perfect moment to introduce such a piece of software, but beeing a programmer myself I know that there might be some factors that prevent a dedicated server from happening anytime soon. Also DCS mostly focuses on the singleplayer experience and therefore it will not become a priority. so long Mathias
  24. I tried, but it seems that the category mapping is hardcoded. The .res files are for display purposes only and don't affect the rearming logic. so long Mathias
  25. At Simhq, I saw a mount for a HOTAS that was clamped at a desk (http://simhq.com/_technology3/technology_188a.html). Three of them + a hight adjustable monitor and you are ready to go. so long Mathias
