Hey thanks I was able to squeez a bit more out of it but looks its not unlimited. I set it to farDistance = 55000.0; and that was a little better then to farDistance = 95000.0; that might have made a slight improvement. But it doesnt look like it will recognise any thing above that. for example farDistance = 995000.0; made no improvement. instead of building and trees popping up I would like them simply become visible as they come out of the "fog" I would like it to draw them when they are still so far away that you simply dont notice it much....Its closer now I guess thats as good as it gets?? Thanks -Gun

I dont remember where I saw that..long time ago its also entirely possible that I miss interpreted what was written... Now that said is there a way to increase the draw distance using an ini file beyond what one can set using the sliders? Thanks -Gun

Hello I just installed a gtx 680 to replace my old dx 10 8800 ultra. I thought I read that with dx11 gpus that "ultra" graphics options became available in the setup menu. I still dont see them is this not true or is some other issue causing them not to display? Thanks -Gun

Okay after reading the whole "official asus OC guide" all 49 pages of it I set my AI overclock tuner "manual" Turbo ratio "by all cores" by all cores can adjust in OS "41" Im now running at 4100Mhz under load temps stabilize around 60 as reported by "Real Temp" Asus thermal radar reports 55 (for a 5c increase) A 10c difference is typical between these two monitors. Vcore volts are 1.000 idle, 1.272 spike, 1.264 load Based on my requirements I do not want to exceed 4.5ghz Off to a good start. Thanks

Thanks. 1)os is backed up 2) I used prime 95 to max out the cpu and it read about 50c as reported by thermal radar cpuz showed clock speed at 3800mhz for 400mhz overclock (why intel burn vs prime95? isnt max cpu load the same thing?) 3)42 sounds like a pretty big jump actually....I was thinking a 0mhz stating point and then maybe 200mhz then 400mhz and then 700mhz I guess my main concern is if im making the right changes in BIOS. The 4 steps listed in my previous post should work to get me 0% overclock and running in manual mode right? At some point im going to have to ramp up phase control, and make other changes but I figured I could avoid all that initially by not overclocking it much. I figured I would learn what and how much to adjust them when I got to that point. Thanks! -Gun

Hello I have a fairly new system thats about 2 months old specs are as follows. win 7 pro 64 bit Asus sabertooth p67 revision 3.0 (b3) running latest 2103 BIOS (Originally shipped with 2001 version bios) G.skill 8gb occupying 2 slots (f3-14900cl9d-8gbsr) DDR3-1866 pc3-14900 4096mb x2 CL9-10-9-28 1.5v i7-2600k 3.4 ghz (lga 1155) Corsair HX 750w Noctua NH-D14 Se2011 PWM with both fans attached and PWM speed profile setup current idle temp is 26c with fans at idle 300 rpm as reported by Asus thermal radar. Loaded temp is 48 to 50c with prime95 and CPUz reports MAX cpu speed at 3800mhz (so apparently its already overclocking its self 400mhz) Case is corsair 650D I have read several different resources and watched this video on youtube Based on what I have seen my initial plan is as follows: 1) set the AI over clock tuner to manual. 2) according to the video leave the BLCK/PCIE (PEG?) to 100.0 3) set the "Turbo ratio" to by all cores 4)set "by all cores (can adjust in os)" to 34 34x100.0 is 3400 for 0% overclock I figured this would at least prime the system for beginning the overclock process. But im only guessing this is a proper starting point. I could really use some input on how to begin the process as Ive never overclocked anything before. Thanks -Gun

ILS landing questions...last 10 seconds before touchdown
Gun Jam replied to Gun Jam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
okay at least not just me. The pitch and roll steer bars do seem to be the best method of actually getting close enough to acquire the runway but as I already found they aren't for landing as a single tool. -
anyone find a fix for the black lightning issue?

ILS landing questions...last 10 seconds before touchdown
Gun Jam replied to Gun Jam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
okay so based on all the above. 1) As of now and maybe forever the a-10 in real life and in the sim is not capable of a full ILS in 0/0 2) the pitch steering bar should be ignored and the caret used instead 3) the a10 must be landed visually -
anyone find a fix for the black lightning issue?

why would it work for jona...shouldnt everyone have this problem? is it hardware related? -
anyone find a fix for the black lightning issue?
Gun Jam replied to Gun Jam's topic in Bugs and Problems
maybe its my video card...others have had this issue as well...a photo is posted search "black lightning" What video card do you have (or even better general system specs) are you running patch 11111111111 (or whatever) I have: win pro 64 intel core i7 2600k nvidia gtx 8800 ultra (way old) asus sabertooth p67 mobo dcs on patch 11111 heres the link with the photo http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62096&highlight=black+lightning&page=5 -
It appears that at night in thunderstorms the lightning bolts appear black...It really kills the fun of flying in them. Does everyone have this problem? Is there a known fix? Thanks -Gun

Hey During an ILS approach the ILS bars should ideally be crossed at the dot in the center of the ADI right? What I have noticed is during the last 10 seconds before touchdown it seems the ILS changes pattern and wants you to dive at the runway and then pull up quickly to flare. The bar indicating proper pitch dives very rapidly and then climbs very rapidly. What am I doing wrong. -Gun

Thanks guys! Ive pretty much got it figured out. I think I have maybe 30 hrs so far in this game and im just now barley able to function on a level that allows me to complete a fairly simple mission without making dumb mistakes. I can start up the plane, get radio contact, taxi to the proper runway, set the radios to communicate with who I want, copy down 9 lines, locate targets, mark point and destroy targets quickly, Find my way home, fire up ILS, keep the ILS sticks crossed on the dot, land. My last hurdle is bullseye calls. I am very certain that they are bugged and any target over 2 miles from the bullseye...you wont be finding. This bums me out because they are vital to success for certain missions like "CSAR" when SAMs are spotted and relayed to you in Bulls you're not going to find them it makes it very difficult to complete a mission..might as well be a bug that wont allow your engine to start up. :( I am almost certain this is the most involved game/simulation ever created. Its totally awesome but requires tons of patience especially when certain bugs add to the mix. Im glad this forum is here to help!! Thanks again -Gun

Hey Warrior I did not know that EGI and auto pilot were related. Switching to EGI mode allowed me to arm the EAC but only after airborne... I clicked some button on the UHF radio and it apparenlty loaded the frequency change as it was also now displayed up front just to the left of the ADI. I could then contact my wingman...odd none of the other radios require you to load the frequency. I believe I already have your radio tutorial...I must have missed that part. Thanks -Gun

Hello Sometimes (most times) during a ramp start up I cant get the auto pilot to engage. I flip the switch up and it goes back down...radar altimeter is on. and EAC is lit up on the Christmas Tree. What do I keep forgetting?....works in the training mission but no where else. 2nd problem....wing man communication via UHF. In some missions I can communicate with my wingman no problem even if the radio is set to the wrong frequency???....(easy comms is off) in the "Hideout" mission "Flight" is given the channel UHF AM 251. I enter that into the radio and I get nothing. Radio is on and dial is set to "Both Main" Is flight the same thing as wingman? I used the wingman and the flight radio list and get nothing. I can communicate with all others during this mission.... Thanks -Gun

Phoenix that's a good idea I didn't know a sidewinder could be slaved to the tgp! I'll have to try that out! Thanks for the other tips fellas its helpful! -Gun

is the SA cue the white dot? getting it at my 12 is easy but how would I determine the angle it is above or below my aircraft?
-
hello I was flying some quick missions and was attempting to use the TGP to help locate an air target. Of course my wingman always got the tally first so I would have him engage the targets. On the tad you could then look and see where they were via the wedding cake symbol. Then simply move the tgp diamond to the wedding cake and there they are! Then its simply lock on up in point track mode and then...big deal. You did all that work to lock up a target and as far as I can tell it gives no indication on the HUD to the direction of the target like it does in AG mode. What has to be done to allow the TGP in AA mode to indicate a targets position on the HUD? Thanks -Gun

that actually makes sense!

I wonder what the logic behind that is?

That reminds me of a question I had...why isnt there a choice for AP only..It appears that if you want AP you have to run CM. Thanks -Gun
