  1. didn't see reported yet online with cats 1 & 2 (not sure about 3 & 4) If two aircraft roll out to cats 1 and 2 the crew will only interact with the craft nearest to them. Once they start the launch procedure with the 1st aircraft the 2nd aircraft approaching either cat 1 or 2 will be ignored until the 1st aircraft is launched then the 2nd crew will respond to the 2nd aircraft allowing them to hook up and launch. This makes launching pairs not possible. Thanks -Gun
  2. It would be excellent if sun and moon position were shown when adjusting time and weather. A small graphic would show sun position or moon position relative to horizon. The graphic would also show moon phase depending on the year / date and both moon and sun position relative to horizon would change as time was adjusted.
  3. This new patch is a massive improvement I get Low-Ulta settings now that work, clouds with color detail and no jitter. However there seems to be a new issue that popped up. In VR looking at distant object they change render distance as I look up/dn or L/R. For example I look dead ahead and observe the scene if I look up a cloud may change shape as in shrink its edges / disappear or a new cloud may appear. Has anyone else observed this? Thanks -Gun
  4. I have sound blaster x AE-5 using 5.1 surround as my default audio I have on board audio running sim shaker I have Vr HP Reverb G2 headset using Mic and earphones for voice com (all Radio, ICS, discord, SRS go through headphones) All this was working about a week ago and I dont recall making any changes. The issue now is I get no audio output from the rear speakers. Things like engine would play though the rear speakers. Now I only get audio from FL, Center, FR and sub. **) The issue is not fully DCS related I have an AVI test file that I would run from time to time that plays 5.1 audio and I use it to test speakers Its has always worked fine in the past when playing though win media player. However now it plays Rear audio in the front left and front right and there is NO audio from either the RL or RR speaker. DCS is doing the same thing. However when I play this same file using VLC media player and select 5.1 it plays correct. Also most other games seem to play correct as well... 1) DCS is set to 5.1 2) A self check using the Soundblaster connect 2 software shows 5.1 and test correct 3) Win 10 test in sound setup test correct 4) Soundblaster is still set to default Thanks in advance -Gun
  5. I was flying a night mission, Syria and noticed that the lights from the city looked much improved over 2.5. The lights looked denser brighter and visible from a longer range. I didn't see any mention in change log that specifically addressed ground lighting. Were changes made for lights particularity cities or is this just from perhaps changing a settings slider and not realizing it made that much difference with ground lighting. Thanks
  6. I fly with reverb G2. I did nothing just see what would happen and im quite impressed with many of the new features with no noticeable degradation. I have 2080ti 32gb ram and the new 8086k at 5.1Ghz Now ill check the settings and see how things change from base but im already impressed. horses snorting fire as they ride on hear their cries
  7. Disable DLC I believe. Wingsweep too. OR lower their values.
  8. This seems to have been the answer. Thanks
  9. Ive used buttkicker for a while but wanted to get more from it so I just got SSA and sound module installed. I have 2 sound cards but im currently running on just one for now like always I get the test to work Doesnt seem to have any effect in game and current DCS aircraft is always listed as none. But does recognize that I flew the f14 The issue is when the application is started either automatically when launching dcs or manually i the error seen in the image below Any ideas? Thanks
  10. I do notice some changes and have questions about how things are working now regarding the 54. a friend and I were playing test scenarios to see how things act in a controlled environment one of the things I tested was aim 54 mk 60s as I noticed some different behavior from them. In the past when launching on targets the 54 would immediately start to maneuver towards them now it seems to fly unguided for maybe as much as 10 sec and in some cases then makes a wild correction to make up for lost time. This was most apparent when having the ACM switch cover up and attempting to have the missile guide off the rail. I launched at about 8 miles on a f18 that was moving to my 10 OC. I placed the ADL X on the target and fired the 54 ran straight and never tracked. Again I tested same setup but this time I lead the target by about 8 sec fired and the 54 ran straight then made a hard bank to the left as it was starting to fall behind the target and 5 sec later my buddy told me that he now had a launch warning the 54 did impact. Same is true for head on. At high closure rate ACM up, launch the 54 flew past the target before going active I fired at about 5 miles What is with this apparent new delay in 54 especially with ACM cover up as in the past it was always active right off the rail. Thanks
  11. LSS sounds like a really great solution. Ill see what I can dig up on this! Thanks
  12. Hello I have a question about methods used to guide a buddy to the proper target and some solutions for this. I usually fly the tomcat and a buddy will fly his f18 we both use pods but in some cases I want to lase a target for him and perhaps vice versa. Basic idea I fly a hold in the f14 and he drops GBU in CCIP running in, calls time to impact and I fire the laser from my f14... this works... pretty well. To find the correct target is the challenge. 0) simply use ground features to find target by talking him in...works not real fast or trick. 1) if its getting dark a really slick method would be to simply fire the laser for a short duration so he could see it in NVG. However we never see laser from f14 is this not modeled yet? Clear as day in the f18. 2) Not yet tested but I suspect I can have him take 1 Laser mav and let the mav find the beam then it will show on the hud now he can send GBU ccip in geneal area. 3) I have the GPS location on the LANTIRN can this be sent to the litening II somehow or must it be entered by pilot? No slick way to share point track location? Any other ideas? Thanks
  13. Cool thanks this was helpful! -Gun
  14. What kind of sensor does the TCS use in our DCS f14B? Images and some descriptions seem to indicate that its infrared was that on later models only? The manual doesn't discuss this. I dont see a selection option "clear view / IR" and it does not appear to function at night. Thanks -Gun
  15. I enjoyed the campaign quite a bit. Here are my thoughts on a few things 1) I liked the way it started out the first 4 missions made a lot of sense to me and where building up the plot and you were never sure if you were seconds away from starting a war. Each side provoking the other trying to get someone to slip up. one of the most memorable moments was passing the mig head on ROE weapons hold not sure if hes going to fire and passing just a few feet away his frozen contrails right off the canopy and jester not sure if we just got shot at. I though that was really cool and helped build the suspense. It might have been the mission before when jester was all excited about seeing a mig up close that was cool too. All that set the stage. 2) then the next mission felt like we missed a bunch of stuff and were right in the midst of a massive combat zone... so much for all that suspense. That was a bit disappointing it felt like a main piece was missing. weapons hold passing a single mig no shots fired then an ace in a day shit storm with not even any dialog to fill the gap. Also this first weapons hot mission had a lot of stuff going on and I did have to play it twice because the first time everything was dead but didnt get success... maybe I needed a few more cap passes...not clear on the issue? 3) The voice acting was good and most of the story was good! 4) I really only felt cheated on one mission where you fly cap in the mountain range for a while then a mig apparently shows up right under you. I get what the dev was going for but it felt contrived like yeah that totally just spawned there...there's 45 min ill never get back. 5) other than those small issues Nice Job!
  16. I gave this a shot and I found that prerendered frames were set to 1. I set this to 4 as I think thats how I always had it. It does appear better to the point now that it might have been as good as it was before. I had some "benchmark" data but nothing super precise and it seems to be within that margin. ALSO the game no longer appears to CTD on first load unless im getting really lucky. It would in the past CTD 9/10 times so far it seems to load normally now. The CTD began when I installed a-10 II. Thanks!
  17. DCS/Mods/Terrians/Terrain name/mics/metacache/dcs?? Thanks
  18. yes its an MSFFB2 known issue that has a known simple fix thats already been implemented. Go to settings (key bindings or whatever its called) select axis and then modify axis check the box thats says something like "invert axis" Problem solved. Will help the stick center correct as well too.
  19. Hello I have a noticeable decrease in performance and I cant seem to track down the issue. I know others have had similar issues and was hoping they could offer suggestions about what to check. 1) My over all PC performance does appear to be on point no change. 2) The last change that I can remember that seemed to be the starting point was installing and using tacview. I used it on simple missions and seemed fine. That night I then when to play syria thought the inferno with a friend online and I was like WTF happened to this thing its a total nightmare. I then figured it needed a pc restart as it had been a few weeks since the last real restart. This made no change. I then figured it was a tacview problem. I shut tacview off no real difference...I then Uninstalled tacview. No real difference. 3) Aurelius then posted thread about the new 6900xt vs other GPUs. I then attempted to repeat his test as he described. I have the 8086k @ 5ghz and the 2080ti. I got a test result that was within 1fps avg of his results. This is frustrating because I expected a significant difference due to my apparent crap performance. Now im thinking perhaps the problem doesn't scale due to a significant change in settings which can load different parts as workloads change. 4) Idle CPU loads are 1 to 3% 5) other fairly intensive apps run fine. I get like 45fps all settings maxed out quality super sampling in CP2077 at 1440p its runs smooth all the time. 6)because of 5 and 1 It seems more like a dcs or dcs related software issue. I have the reverb G2 a 2080ti the i7-8086k 5ghz 32mb ram 3200 (probably) Thanks in advance.
  20. Yep. odd name choice I guess they wanted to fly that flag one more time. Ill look for any processes that I could do with out. Thanks for the input!
  21. I encountered the same problem. Make sure to do a full restart of the whole mess after you change the settings. I found that after restart it had acceptable FPS nothing like stated but my system a bit different. In my case it made a small improvement maybe.
  22. 1) was all about CPU. I do use reprojection. 4) Idle the CPU is about 3 to 6%. Im curious why you think the 8086k is a typo. IS there a better tool for observing individual core loads? Thanks
  23. Hello Im running an 8086k at 5.1ghz and a 2080ti Im playing my own server with a friend "Through the inferno Syria" Im running TacView The GPU Frame times seem expected. They are mostly consistent and always in re projection territory (like 16ms or something) 80 to 90% utilization CPU frame times are confusing to me and I was hoping someone could explain them a bit more. My CPU frame times are about 18 ish ms but have spikes that are a few ms in duration that push to the top of the graph perhaps 26ms. using task manager none of the cores are above 60% utilization and total cpu usage is low as expected . 1) Does % of utilization = frame time? For example if the highest core was at 10% we might get 4ms at 20% 8ms at 40% 16ms? Is it linear? 2) why am I not seeing spikes in task manager but i am in FPS Vr? 3) Its hard to tell if tac view is causing CPU spikes. Im kind of thinking not at this point. 4) im of the assumption that my CPU frame times should be less considering how low the highest value is (60%) but im not sure how that exactly works any thoughts on this? Thanks
  24. yes when the G1 was set to 100% it actually ran at near native resolution. Most of us would push it upto 150-200% You are correct that there is a bug with the G2 and yes 60% is indeed running some SS. I guess the point I was trying to make is resolutions near native aren't really that impressive which is why it was common to push the G1 to 200%. If you set the G2 to 95% you will be in that zone (180 to 200%ss) that many of us used for the G1 I also recommend pushing them to 300% still because it rules out hardware issues with HMD its self. There are many many ways for this system to encounter both optical and digital abnormalities during manufacturing that would be very easy to spot at 300% ss. That was the very first test I did when I got them running normally I went to check if any issues were present and at 300% they looked better than my monitor and I knew everything was fine from a HMD hardware standpoint.
  25. Yeah at 60% its not going to look fantastic. Is that pushing the limits of your system already? Did you check it for clarity at 300% just to make sure it can deliver?
