  1. Thanks. In case of air threats head back to the air field's patriot sites. Tunguskas were reported to be within the armor groups, never trust AI if there is AA there ahahaha. :-D What I did is I looked for the armor groups, killed the tunguskas and let the AI do all the work. :) Wow man I am astonished that you completed everything by yourself with what was given. And it was not that much. Must have been lucky 97/105 drops!
  2. Yeah, I also think you should gear up... XP is getting old and windows 7 performs very well. Especially with all the 64bit stuff, games etc.
  3. Thanks. Yeah the armor is kinda randomly placed, sometimes it's even hard for me to find them. But then again - if you are 20 miles out you can safely orbit and scan the treelines/forest areas north of the target coords.
  4. Thanks a lot for the feedback. Yeaaah, I kinda checked the "Flying the A-10 in the gulf war" book and tried copying the altitude they can hear A-10s at into DCS. So the flare is only popped when A-10 is in audible range. I am glad that you got the hint and tried flying really low! Was there some trial & error involved? How did you like the default loadout?
  5. I am not sure if I hear it... :-/ That's the deal.
  6. Hey folks. I just sat on the ramp for a few minutes playing with the A-10, exited the game afterrealizing that trackIR was off and then was offered a funny log. "Engine start, Engine shutdown, Engine start, Engine shutdown" up to 4 times every second! I flew a campaign mission once and it crashed, no track was saved but the last seconds of the log looked just like that... Engine start, engine Shutdown, engine start... Here is the track of my just flown mission and the logfile. Looks really weird. I didnt do anything to the engine... I suspect this being the reason why the game crashed the other day. engineStartShutdown.trk engineStartShutdown.zip
  7. Sound normal to me... Go to dcs bla/sounds/effects/weapons/gau8cannonIN... Sounds pretty much the same to me. :-/
  8. Sounds interesting, pun intended. Pls post video/track.
  9. Sup folks, this is my first DCS A-10 mission. You are supposed to find and destroy 2 armor groups. They are randomly placed in a general area at mission start but the directions in the briefing should be enough to find them. Suddenly something else happens and you have to deal with the situation. Mission "features": -fully voiced dialogues -ramp start -a tanker if you wanna fiddle around with that -create your own flight plan -shooting off mavericks just before AA can shoot YOU -having to use your Mark I Eyeball to complete a stage of the mission -a chance to fail half of the mission -ambient stuff like trucks, choppers, Patriot SAM site shooting off rockets (not realistic but you barely get to see it usually so why not) -a nice surprise if you do everything right, be sure to read the briefing and land on Kutasi 08 ;) This mission uses a lot of F10 "other" radio messages to communicate with units. Make sure that either the host is flight lead OR you always relay the possible options to flight lead. Enjoy and give bug reports and feedback, thanks. EDIT: Mission compatible with DCS World now. 10. Hey, this is just quick feedback: Very good job on the menu music. Sure, after a while it gets tedious because you listen to it a hundred times. But I really think it is well done. Nice tension curves there, great sounds and the fly by sounds make you wanna hop into the plane even faster. :) Who is responsible for the music at ED? Tell him he's doing awesome work.
  11. The trim tabs are not supposed to control the aircraft. That job is still done by the control surfaces. But the control surfaces are too big and in manual reversion mode you would have to push very hard to move them without the help of hydraulics. So what they do is give you direct control to the trim tabs which then move the CONTROL surfaces. And the control surfaces move the right way. Think of it like this: If your right aileron goes down, the wing goes up. Now if the right trim tab goes up -> the aileron goes DOWN -> wing moves up, see? I hope I did not misunderstand your question. :)
  12. Which makes me wonder how the devs never thought of it before... It's easily done when making a model from scratch, it just takes some more texturing time. I wonder why the devs didn't think of a proper thermal imaging system when creating the models. DCS is/was about modern stuff after all... I understand this is just a bitching post, but maybe for the future (when creating new models\textures) devs could keep in mind that adding one extra B/W texture is not too much work... But I absolutely agree that overworking all the objects present in the game would take months... And money, a lot of money.
  13. Mh, I will start missing all the fancy electronics pretty soon. :(
  14. Secret DCS SDK my ass ahahahahahaha, I laughed hard! :D Hahaha!
  15. @Topic. Did a test yesterday... -50°C Engines were running at 60% ENG RPM, as usual. But as soon as I touched the throttle they spooled up pretty quickly and started pushing the plane. When I returned the throttle to idle the engines would idle at about 80%, they never came back to 60. A bug? However - the performance in cold envinonments is SICK! :D
  16. This is actually a bug. When you emergency-jettison your stuff they are not armed and should just land on the ground. And that's what happens for you. But for clients around you it looks like the weapons explode.
  17. Mh, more A-10 videos? F yeah!
  18. Works like a charm! Thank you so much! :) The HUD snap view is so much better for me. :)
  19. Add the tank group, build all the waypoints. 0 - start WP 1 - hold WP 3 - wp in enemy area (where they are supposed to engage) at WP1 add task "hold" and set stop condition "is user 99" Then go to your trigger lists and add a "mission start" trigger, NO conditions. Actions - add radio command "blablabla tanks go go go", flag 99. When you hit that radio option - the "HOLD" task of the tanks will stop and they will continue on their route. There are more way to do this and most of them will be much cleaner as well. But this is what you need to get started.
  20. Awesome explanations folks, thank you a lot! :)
  21. Hey folks. Simple and quick: Why do jet engines run better in a cold environment? That seems to be the common opinion and I can't quickly find an answer on google. Thanks in advance.
  22. Testing now. :) Wow, this is so sick! I dropped a single 82 on a random spot somewhere from 12k feet, it hit within 4 meters... Crazy. Thank you!
  23. Yep, group/part of group in zone seems like a good solution...
  24. Very cool thing: the PATRIOT SAM site shoots down russian SEAD missiles, hehehehe. :) Just put the skill on EXPERT, so awesome man!
  25. Attach a mission of yours... You seem to make everything right - all needed units in one group... Check the SKILL setting! In a test flight of mine following happened: SA-10 (monster RU SAM :D) vs. F18 SEAD. SA-10 skill average + f18 skill exellent -> F18 fires agm 88c even before sam site launches. SA skill exellent + f18 skill exellent -> sam site fires first, F18 evades fire, launches upon sam site. in the end both die. But well - yeah, skill setting is very important. I have seen a SA-6 site throw all their rockets into the ground on "average" and kill every single target on "exellent". Experiment. :)
