Thank you Hans Connecting the switches to a brydling Board is a nicke idea. At least the brodnar boards are Not too expensive and I have to Order this 'Double rotatys' anyway. Cheers Tom .... On his Way to Vienna for couple of days -
Help needet ... HELIOS and potiometer on hardware panels
TomDK replied to TomDK's topic in Home Cockpits
Okay, thank you guys so far ... So max 11 RotarySwitches on B1 to B11. Understood. But what to do with the RotaryEncoders. Do you think I can connect them to the B256A13 ? You are right, I soldered a whole CDU to 2 plugs from a B256A13 and safe work using the RotarySwitches :). I tried several positions for the Rotary Encoders, always getting on a switch number used by the RotarySwitch, at least it becomes some more. So far I have 4 RotarySwitches connected: - CMSP Mode - STEER Point - PAGE - TACAN MODE VHF needs 2 for each radio plus 4 RotaryEncoders .... huuu, thats much stuff. And TACAN also needs 2 double RotaryEncoders. JG14_Smil, so that it was I connected and want to connect. I dont the understand the matrix stuff due I use this "Ready to use 2 cable Rotary Switches" Cheers Tom F**** , my CDU monitor stopped working after 2 weeks, seems that the HDMI to Video-Converter is broke down. Should try golfing or fishing as my hobby :smilewink: -
Help needet ... HELIOS and potiometer on hardware panels
TomDK replied to TomDK's topic in Home Cockpits
I come back with this old thread because I have an other issue with the Leo Bodnar BBI-32 interface card: I have, so far, connected 4 of this Rotary Switches and would like to connect many of this Rotary Encoders (for radios, etc) If I connect the Rotary Encoders to the BBI-32 they disturb the switch positions of the Rotary-Switches. Any idea , expect buing more and more Bodnar boards ?? :P Thanks again for all your help, the left console becomes more and more working. Cheers Tom -
Now: Up and running !!! A friend of mine helped me to solder again ... now it works perfect with the dimmer ! jUST HAVE TO RELEARN IT :: SOME MISSMATCHES IN: Question: Can I connect the last two pind from the display (background LED) on the phidgets LED-board ?
-
Strange is it anyway. It is now running with power from "9V" on the ethernetcard , same as "VIN" on the arduino itself. using no potiometer for dimming ! I measure 3,8 Volt on the pins. If I change to the 5 Volt it will not work. Using only USB-power, if I use a poweradapter ... no work due the screen is black. Is there a chance to get rid of mismatched learned letters or kill the *.txt file in C:/A10 and start from the scratch ?! However, this setup is running, the lcd in my panel not .. I will change the lcd in the panel as the easiest way :smilewink: Thanks so far to you all and your time !!!

Me again :D Today I found some hours to try again ... no luck. I tested: Ping to 192.168.1.100 works Netmask, gateway and MAC are like in the script, IP is permanent for the arduino. I took a new display and connected as HMA stated. I tried also this script with no success: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/LiquidCrystal There must be something wrong, I see no HELLO or something, just black blocks. On this display I do not use a resisitor or anything, in the panel I have a potiometer connected which works and dimms the blocks. Any other ideas ?! Cheers and thanks so far !!! Tom EDIT: HAAAA ... I found it .. if I use the 9Volt pin instead the 5Volt the display telles me "READY" ... I dont have to understand this but will try on the weekend again with the sim !! EDIT2: The datasheet for the dosüplay says 5Volt .. no idea why it wants the 9 Volt pin .. will measure the pins next time ... I am confused ...

Sure ?! You are blocked ?! I have not tried it yet, but I will become very pissed if I am blocked. I also payed, paypal took the mones from my creditcard, creditcard took the money from my bankaccount. I opened also a ticket. But with this thread I thought there is only a problem between paypal and ED and we customers are "out" of this. Will see ... if they block .. that would be too bad cause I bought some modules only to support ED and never flew it ...

Thanks again ... after month I have my CDU working with a HDMI to video converter. Was nearly 45 EURO ... however, it works and my CDU is 50% connected and every single switch with a green LED.
-
Thanks so far ! Meanwhile I could ping the Arduino but the display is still blank. Yesterday I waited 6 hours for the update to be installed, now I have to reset all my setups, helios, TFS3 and so on and will start with your hints on the weekend. I wired from HMA´s nice drawing but will re-check !

Did you install the drivers and software from the webpage ? Under "system/devices/" you need to see an usb device "IVIBE" with a icon, a small black box. Otherwise it is not installed correctly. have a look on the site: http://www.ivibe.com/index.php?page=downloads
-
You have to use the original export.lua but add the line intelliVIBE=true Did you start the software with the profile for A-10 ?? Yes, only USB connection is needet !
-
Congratulations ! Forget about the phonejack ! This is only a mode for non-supported games, than IVIBE will rumble with the sound.

Okay Duckling !! Nice to know .... BUT ... I am in need of help :( I installed my arduino with the script from this thread. I connected it to my router, the networkconnection-LED is green. I connected USB to power the arduino. I followed the instruction to read in monitor.lua: ED_A10C_CMSP = { x = 2995; y = 190; width = 200; height = 42; This is still from my helios and as you can see I use the "KA50 and A-10 export.lua". I followed the instruction to read in CMSP_Init.lua: vp = env.ED_A10C_CMSP This was already in from my helios setup. I created the cmsp.txt I startet Gremlins cmspCOM programm and it asked me to create a cmspCOM.txt for any reason. I did so .... but what now to do ? Need the arduino script a IP address ?? Arduino answers not to ping ... what is his adress ? Arduino shows not up in my router. Thanks for any help ! The panel is connected and the display is powered on. EDIT: Started the programm while A-10 is running and it shows me the values from cmsp but not on the display. The Arduino is blinking and working but the ethernetport is doing nothing ... EDIT 2: Okay .. I used the wrong program ... but with the correct one the recognition and software works but no export to my display. Also no "READY" in the display. I soldered as in the drawing and will check tomorrow, also network is doing nothing. At least the software works and reacts right. Any help welcome ...

Great !! Why will you use the ethernet solution if COM works for you ? I recieved my shield yesterday and maybe tonight I try to install ... Great thread !!
-
I have had a phonecall with my bank. PayPal took the amount from my MasterCard, no reservation .. real money transfer ;) Therefor I have payed my software. If MasterCard books my money back, I will pay again. But ctually I got software, I payed for it. Cheers Tom

Minutes ago I recieved my Arduino :) Just the shield is missing .... Still downloading the software and will try my luck. One question for understanding: There are 2 versions of the software: One for Ethernet and for COM-port ?! COM-Port means a real old school COM-Port or is that a USB version ? Why use the ethernet solution ? Intresting how many people are following this thread and building their panel !!!! Hopefully it will work without any probs, I am too stupid for programming :noexpression:

The ordered one looks more than the right picture, so I am looking forward . Thanks again. A workmate will have after his vacation a look on a solution for the raspberry. Will see ...
-
Yes, thank you ! I am back home but no time yet :music_whistling: Will have alook but I think my problem is that in the different configs for Shark and A-10 are 2 different ports for any reason. An other question: Makes it sense to delete all real panels I have from helios to prevent confusions and have less bindings in helios ? F. eks. I have a full UDF up and worling, if I now delete the UDF from LOZ profile in my helios, would helios have "less work" ?
-
Thanks again .. ordered this arduino stuff .. hopefully the chipset for ethernet is the right one, it was not stated on the ebay offers in germany. Will see ...

Great !! I am also on board ! Bad fact is that I can solder but not program ..... My workmates are with Raspberry PI programming on their way bad they are not intereted in flight simulations .. too bad. The raspberry PI is around 30 EURO and is much faster and powerfull than arduino and comes with ethernet and much more. However .. I will be onboard ! Just finishing my CDU and than the great landing gear panel !!

I use this nice lua-files for A-10 and KA50, this combination will not work with IVIBE: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93587&highlight=export.lua Problems I have: KA-50 is not listed in helios as a "device" to add. In the sinngle files for KA50 and A-10 are different ports named in the top area of the lua, I guess there is my problem. Just editing does not help. Here are my setups: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=99536&highlight=setup I am now for 2 days on duty travel, will comeback to this on wednesday. Thanks and CU Tom

Thank you very much !! Questions for all the programming pros: Would it be possible to make the same with a Raspberry PI ? Here is something in the same direction: http://my-raspberrypi.de/raspberry-pi-mit-openelec-und-einem-16x2-lcd-display/ Sorry, it is german ... A workmate is very familiar with the raspberry and would help me. Reason for the raspberry could be: all in one solution, more power can maybe run more exports (UHF, etc). Would be nice to read from you, meanwhile I will organise the arduino :)

Hi Ho The guy with the problems is me ... but no panic .... my problem is only while using TFS3, Helios and BS while only one export.lua On starting BS with its own export.lua no problems. I love the TFS3, never used a buttshaker. I live in germany and after 3 weeks the TFS was here. On the first one the USB port was not working corretly. One mail and I got a whole new controller box. THAT is service !!! Buy it, enjoy it ... specially now when the DCS series get more and more supported !!

I found several builds of your great tool within the forums. I think this is the "mother of all CMSP threads". Please, can you give me a "shopping card" what is needet to build the CMSP. What is the difference between the COM version and the original ? Would your tool be usable on a raspberry PI: http://www.raspberrypi.org/ I bought one for just testing around, maybe this is a cheaper soltution than the arduino with all the add on cards and has RJ45 network "onboard". Thank you for every hint. So far I have 27" mainscreen, 24" touch for helios, 4" for UHF and 7" for CDU ... an other monitor for CMSP would kill the system :( with all the adapters, converters, power supplies. Thanks Tom BTW .. I can solder bit nor program

Connection problems 2 mini monitors
TomDK replied to TomDK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Okayyyyy !!! Quite a longer time ago but today i connected both mini monitors to my sim computer: The 4" with VGA is connected via a USB to VGA adapter (external USB graphics card). It is for UHF. Problem .. it drops my fps for any reason. Maybe my pc is too slow to handle it. Helios is also little delayed. The monitor is running on 640x480 due it separate adapter and need no higherresolution for the couple of digits for UHF radio. The 7" with AV was connected via a HDMI to composite adapter. That was hell lot of money for the adapter but it works. Took me some hours to figure it out but now its okay. Little fps drop so far, helios is acting fast. http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B002CBN81S/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This monitor is running 1920 x 1080 ... heavy resolution for this small monitor. But I read in the forums that it makes sense to have all monitors connected to my GTX 680 running the same resolution. So not the GPU, the monitor has to convert the sizes. Is this correct ?? The native resolution for this monitor would be 1280x720. I tried also to use SoftTH .. but for any reason I have no luck with this software. My fps drops rapidly with SoftTH. I do not understand it because most people are happy with it. However ... I am happy and tired now. Tomorrow I will solder all the LEDs from the pushswitchtes .... that will be some hours work ... Thanks all for your help .. and any tips are welcome !!
