Oculus Quest 2 - Got it looking half decent
Steel Jaw replied to Bader242's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks for the input, I spent 3 horrifying weeks recently with my O2. Settled on using OTT but will try your Oc App setting and see. -
Currently plugged into my MOBO USB c port, I get about 3 hours. Is there any way to extend this? For example an external powered USB 3 hub? Cheers. Happy New Year, my brothers.

If you're asking me, they are fine, CPU and GPU.

FPS is not the whole story, with my Q2 I'm at ss 1.85, clear Hornet cockpit, butter smooth, fps counter shows locked 24. See the thread I started here for detail.
-
Glorious. When it works. Cheers brother. Look for me online or in discord. Or, if you want shoot me a PM and we can fly online.
-
Interesting. Relevant to the Hornet and working in 2.7?
-
How can I make my own please.
-
Does this work with Oculus stand alone?
-
Thoughts please.

VR FPS is NOT the same as 2d FPS. See my thread in the VR section. I am running butter smooth in VR Oc2 with SS 1.8 clear Hornet cockpit at 24 FPS locked from 72Hz.
-
You can side load an app to break the need for a FB account link with Oculus 2, I have that and will get around to doing that soon.
-
See my thread in this forum recently for a possibly similar issue. I feel your pain. But you WILL get there. The O2 is much better than the Rift, I know as I just came from one. Now. My system specs are similar to yours. A few things coming to mind off hand, at work so not at my gaming system. There is a setting in the headset to adjust the tracking camera sensing, I think it's either 50 or 60 hz. Advise for refresh and res settings start with 72hz and auto settings. Also use the Oculus Tray Tool. Check my thread here for the settings I settled on after weeks of experimentation. I use the cable link, speed tested at 1.9 gbps, the airlink can't bring the data stream needed. It surprised me and others here that I am locked at 24 FPS and get butter smooth performance with darn near crystal clear cockpit res in the Hornet. Mind you, for scenarios with the supercarrier I have to dial things back a bit.

Dang it we need this to run natively in O2.

Thanks, if I read correctly this is for AMD GPUs only as nVidia already has this?
-
Now Im thinking maybe the latest DCSW update fixed the issue. Will get back on that.
-
As it should be.
-
does this work for SteamVR or can I use with stand alone DCSW with Oculis 2 and its software?
-
can anyone verify this?
-
In VR Im locked at 24FPS, SS1.85 via OTT, cockpit is almost perfectly clear and butter smooth. IMHO FPS is not FPS, 2d versus VR.

OK. What seems to have resolved it is installing a slew of optional updates for W10, a few intel port updates, should have screen shotted them. So, always install those updates (you could always roll them back if they cause trouble). So, currently running 72Hz/3616x1840 (auto setting), OTT SS 1.8, ASW Mode 30 Hz, CPU pri high detection Timer GPU Scaling off, link distortion low, encode res 3648, bit rate 300, smooth as glass and cockpit is clear at 1024 res. Also running OVR Server (not overtop of the sim window, doesnt seem to matter). What did I learn? VR FPS are different than 2d monitor FPS. I am getting a solid locked 24FPS (one-third of the 72Hz) and its all good. I was too focused on pushing FPS as high as I could and didnt need to.

"Command xxx is currently disabled for this session and was not executed" ... thoughts please.
-
Fixed. OMFG. I have learned more about VR than I wanted to. 90 refresh 3264x1648, SS 2.0 via OTT, butter smooth. Will detail later, time to fly.

I cannot for the life of me find where in Steam to manage the VR settings. This info is not enough. https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/steamvr/settings
