I am afraid to ask because it may be a trigger of some sort but....what are tree forests?
-
Wow,might be collidable is excellent news....or might be excellent news:doh::D

So not collidable but only 3D.Does that mean that the trees will look better?

I have become a recentering fool lately.:PI seem to feel off center alot in game and so I constantly hit recenter.Could be that I have little to no dead zone in middle. -

GregP posted something but I do not have a HOTAs yet so am winging it with keyboard for now.The CTRL-0 and then num-5 is alot to do when it could be a simple keypress. Is there anyway to automate this? -

LOL but trackir is the future and snap views takes away buttons to use for other things.I am finally happy with my trackir purchase after my one yr of adjusting to it by this little tweak.Just posted it to maybe help someone else. -
I'll try mapping the W to my joystick.I need something when I get confused with trying to steer and brake with my two left feet.

Lazy or not you just made me wanna try separate wheel brakes. ;)

TrackIR tip for less annoying behavior
wolfstriked replied to wolfstriked's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Great tips guys and another one is to do the exact opposite when you are yanking and banking with enemy planes.Look down in cockpit so that you can see the whole stick handle and press center. Now you can bank and not have to do that painful movement of looking to your side and then tilting head up.Same thing just reversed. Could ED make a button that enables a look up and look down view you could just toggle between heads down or outside view without having to do the actual recentering of the trackir by actual movement of ones head? -
TrackIR tip for less annoying behavior

I purchased the pro and it broke INSTANTLY so I never got a chance to try it.But this takes away all the negatives of trackir for me. :) -
I posted this in views but it has made my trackIR such a great piece of equipment that I wonder if it will go unnoticed there.I have been on the fence with trackIR since I purchased a yr ago due to how the sensors get all crazy when you try to look down in cockpit. That and how uncomfortable looking down and then to the side to view a side panel is. My fix is a simple tip but I feel it can help many out here. What I do is I have the center-trackIR easily accessible as its constantly in use now. Then when I want to go heads down in the cockpit I raise the view onscreen so that the bottom of my screen is above the UFC and press center-trackIR.Then when you look back at center of your screen the view in game is pointing down. What this does is centers the 3 dots so now you have all the range of motion and your view is already pointing down in cockpit so there is no erratic behavior anymore.Doing ramp starts is great now!And to go back to normal view you just center your view and press center-trackIR.

Tornadopilot, its not the nose wheel since putting wind to zero ends the veering to the right. Its crosswind physics that causes the yaw.I think people are flying missions with little wind and is why some people do not see it and others do.
-
Nomdeplume, thanks I changed it and its nicer to fly. Before it was set at random weather and it seemed to always make high winds. Wichid,is that normal practice?I ask because the plane is easily steerable even under 50 speed with the rudders.
-
Ok fellas,I finally learned how to setup a mission and set no wind and its perfect.Dead set down runway and braking is a beautiful thing now and when I do brake too hard the sliding feels real and a slight release of brakes and it tracks straight again.:D When I do the free flight missions though my game has some high winds where the ladder moves very far to the direction of wind. Its modeling the hardness of crosswind takeoffs and landings and I will not ask anymore.:smilewink: Is there a way to set it so that the wind is not so harsh in free flight mission?:book:
-
I doubt thats it though.I think they just added in an effect of yaw into the ground handling to make it seem more real but I find that it detracts from the experience.Try very slow taxiing and easy braking and the jet is super stable and brakes nice and straight.Add a little extra speed though and the yaw kicks in,brakes seem to cause more swerve and it gets hard to control again.Maybe a poll to see if players would like to have a smoother braking experience when anti-skid is enabled?I think a cure would be just to cut the amount the jet yaws a good degree.

Hey guys I use a little trick to prevent the Linda Blair exorcist effect which some here may find useful.I have never seen it mentioned before so it may be common knowledge. We all know how trackIR in the extremities goes bat crazy due to the main sensor having issues at extremes. The reason is the 3 sensors on your head that when moved up/down/left/right at a certain point will merge and the trackir loses info. So to fix this I am now looking up in cockpit and pressing the center key when ever I want to do heads down work.By doing that you center the in-game view when you are looking upwards so when you return to look at the monitors center your in-game view is heads down in cockpit. This means that you have none of the issues of the sensors going ape crazy anymore and heads down work zoomed in is a joy to use.To put view back to outside the plane you just hit trackIR center again and your good to go. This is something I wonder if maybe a super modder here or even the trackIR devs could make where you do not have to look up and press "center" and look back down but instead you just press heads up or heads down view and the view shifts down but the trackIR sensors are in their sweet spots, maybe with an auto zoom added in when heads down is chosen.

In the post I linked someone mentioned a bug in the dynamic weather. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1183646&postcount=15

Definitely not spiking,it looks like I am applying trim forward and backwards. Then all is well and controls normally.
-
I use one pedal for both brakes since its hard enough to control this as is let alone trying to balance another pedal into the mix.I tried the CTRL-ENTER and it shows all controls centered perfectly with just a small offset on rudder occasionally that I removed with a deadzone. With all control inputs centered though, once I am rolling it seems to pull to left and powered off and coasting to the right.Still think the braking swerving is too strong and the pull to right on takeoff and left on engine idle makes for frustrating feel to what would feel perfect if cured.:joystick:
-
Inseckt, thanks. ;) Eddie, the issue I am having I come to find is related to what Wildfire said "Keep in mind your jet always drifts to one side of the runway so it will always want to slide in that direction."Its also happening to people in this post where they claim plane pulls to right and has nothing to do with crosswind since its always to the right and under any payload chosen. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=72784 I figure ED has put this in to simulate having to actually steer down the runway since in real life you do have to put in tiny inputs to stay centered unless high crosswind. Then wheel steering enabled and it pulls to the left side and under HEAVY braking it swerves left and right. Its just pulls too harsh and causes weird feelings when braking.Under full power it pulls to right and when you go idle power it tracks straight. Then brake too harsh and it swerves left and right coupled with the more sensitive yaw effect when wheel steering is enabled and braking gets too hard.....of course all IMO. Could the testers maybe ask if it can be toned down.:(

Hi folks just wanna first say that while I am new here I do not want to come off as a complainer.I "love" that companies like DCS are around for us and remember just a few short yrs back when all you heard was that high fidelity PC flight simulations were coming to the end.:megalol::lol::thumbup: This could all be just me and I actually wanna hear points from people defending the braking tire model in DCS. Ok,I fly A10c and feel its a great simulation that feels very real to me until I land and try to brake. Then I just get all these feelings of why is happening. The modeling of anti-skid just throws me off. See when I am going pretty slow and apply full brakes the jet swerves as if I am adding in rudder input but I am not.The swerving is greatly exaggerated when antiskid is off and I agree that its a good way to force the antiskid on as a realism option.Thats ok and I can overlook that but at least give us solid braking when antiskid is turned on.Instead I get this hard shaking of cockpit(is that the antilock brakes releasing pressure?) and no matter how little brake pressure I apply the jet just swerves and I am dancing on the rudders. Braking in a straight line is pretty simple in real life and when you start to slide you pretty much slide straight ahead. If you make a harsh turn in middle of runway and slam brakes on the jet will not do 360's instead it will slide sideways while brakes are locked. In ice conditions though and you get a little sideways I can imagine a 360spin if the front tire has grip and forces the rear around but thats rare since you have two tires in rear and one in front meaning it will be very push heavy by default and not prone to spin.In DCS however it always feels like the runways are covered in ice and gets worse as speed slows. What I propose is a removal of the swerve and cockpit shake when antiskid is enabled.Please....."comments highly welcome"!:pilotfly:

My goodness that shriek of a little girl sound blows my mind because to think that she reacted like that to abird hit but rains down massive power on enemies....its chilling actually LOL.
