  1. Things you can, under normal atmospheric conditions and in broad daylight see at a distance with a naked eye.
  2. If this is referring to the possible overlapping of dots - negative, no such thing ever happened in old IL2 which I am still playing after over 10 years now. Even with large bomber formations that could possibly produce such an effect. Again, no argument there. In DCS current version objects disappear well inside normal visual range due to no such thing as scaling or other solution that would make spotting them possible due to current hardware limitations.
  3. No argument there. But with the current situation objects disappear well out of normally visual range. If you aren't using zoom or TGP.
  4. I believe you are worrying too much over this. The above example is an excellent point why scaling or any other solution should be implemented to fix the inability to spot targets (not ID them, for that you'd still have to use zoom) with normal FOV. IMO those trucks should be visible in normal FOV, represented by a dot that may or may not look slightly out of proportion. An excellent compromise with wich most of us who voted here will agree. Zooming is a poor excuse for already poor spotting ability we have in DCS. And at the same time you haven't tried it yourself in before mentioned sims. Also, see post #97.
  5. That sounds as if you are the only one using it while I can't imagine anyone not using zoom function in DCS. That.
  6. Why don't you try it yourself, on before mentioned sims that do feature it. Based from the current situation where you have a hard time seeing anything at all without zooming in (try using GAU8 without a zoom for example) even minor scaling is welcome improvement. Current situation is unrealistic as we have it now, even for spotting ground objects. In short, I can not disagree more. Fire up old IL2 and see how well you can spot a dot at a distance. The distance is even adjustable in the settings for online play. And there are none of the problems you are worried here for closer view like the one you posted - in other words, LODs for close and at medium distance objects are not affected. This has to be a joke. Trading off brakes for the sake of zooming in is a clear evidence how bad DCS is in this area. What we have now in DCS is being nearsighted when in FOV view, and farsighted when zoomed without any kind of benefit when in normal FOV except for viewing gauges.
  7. Extremely Important.
  8. Glad I am not the only one who things they sound as if we are running with flat tires. :)
  9. Glad you like the screens. Just to clarify, none of the DBS guys except one are in those pictures. We were at home, all over the world. This was a (civil) flight sim meeting we flew a live performance for. The one guy what was there shared his screen and explained what we were doing (and why). :joystick: Our demographics span from 20 - 60. :D
  10. As much as I like the B-25, B-26 would be my choice for this scenario and Normandy map.
  11. Darn. I tried repairing, no luck. Used another activation and it works now. 7 remaining. Do I have anything to worry about?
  12. One of the best arguments on the matter I've read on these forums.
  13. I agree. Compressed audio or not, engine specific audio features should be there no matter the audio compression.
  14. Well said. I will not bow to the certain individuals who put themselves on a pedestal saying their sounds are the best and how better can not be achieved, be it from developer side or third party mods. I know what my ears are hearing and while I can without a doubt recognize Huey, A-10, Mi-8 and other sounds - WWII sounds in DCS simply aren't even near to the same level as DCS flight modeling is (neither is DM for that matter). I have invested in audio gear and I don't have a problem with other sims. Having said that, and just tested the latest pach - IMHO the 109 sounds are the worst of the 3 prop planes.
  15. Several times, and like DavidRed - I to always revert to stock sounds. I wasn't impressed.
  16. Downclocked my PC today and Mig-21 activation and I am getting the same message as OP. It won't reactivate. Can I send you an email or is there a newer solution to this? EDIT: OC-ed again and everything is normal. Only Mig-21 key is making a fuss after removing my OC.
  17. NHF, but that is your opinion. At least two persons in this thread disagree with you. Well said. If DCS has such strong emphasis on simulating things as close to real life as possible, I do not see why audio department should be left out.
  18. You have a point, but the problem is a bit more complex than that. New discussion about the prop thickness: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=132185
  19. Very simple really: wind is blowing from your left to right. On TO proper procedure would be to use right rudder with stick back and to the left until you gain some speed. As it is written in many manuals and text book procedures. What we have in DCS is the opposite - left rudder with stick back and to the right.
  20. Same here. I would like to see evidence or comments from pilots who have experienced this in RL. Currently I am not liking the modeled effect but waiting for evidence rather than theory. +1 jcomm
  21. The deflected slipstream will apparently move the nose in other direction. ;-)
  22. Interesting. What does he define as extreme x-wind?
  23. Can't speak for effte, but for me it isn't the difficulty but the current physics modelling that is putting me off.
