  1. What really changed T/O in DCS for me was pulling the stick fully back on T/O until reaching ~60 MPH / 100 km/h. You have to center it before the tail starts lifting off the ground. The idea behind this is to have more control over your tail wheel since rudder isn't effective until you pick up some speed. If you leave it centered for the initial run the tail will be touching the ground but will not control the A/C. Unlike Mustang, Dora is a bit specific here. You really need to tap those wheel brakes to keep her straight until the rudder becomes effective. Although most of the time I almost do not need any rudder input on the initial run. I've also found that gradual power increase works best with both A/C. You do not need 100% throttle to lift off. T/O with no more than 60-70% until you get a feel for it. Also - jab the rudder, do not hold it in one direction for long. By using the same technique I showed in my Frankie video, I can easily do a two pointer in a Dora.
  2. I guess that largely depends on where they land.
  3. Not sure if it was mentioned here but the Dora has huge advantage over Pony in engine management. You don't need to constantly watch the gauges and can keep your eyes at your opponent. As for the FM, they are closely matched IMHO.
  4. I don't know why people would need reduced saturation in this sim. Did my first landing and then T/O last night. After lots of hours in DCS P-51D I have to say this is a forgiving plane to fly. Not nearly as violent torque on T/O as with the Stang and landing is a breeze.
  5. Seconded. And a great looking skin too!
  6. Kick ass, thank you Wags/ED.
  7. A good reason for delay IMO. So that we can sort our backer stuff before hopping into Dora. Especially those who wish to get their keys from KS pledge.
  8. For a 1944 plane, G model is the only choice. To supplement other planes in development. Preferably a late war variant, with chyenne tail as well. If we're lucky, equipped with a device / radar for bombing through the clouds.
  9. Bought the Stang a year ago and pre-purchased Dora. Would like to see it redone before August 5th so that I can select the next two in the pipeline. :-)
  10. Seconded. I've had enough of AI Doras. You know that the actual ratio was closer to 1.8 or even 1.3:1? :)
  11. My first DCS pre-purchase. :pilotfly:
  12. Nwm, I've re-read your post now.
  13. I have to say I disagree with a lot of the suggestions in the video. From sudden power increases when taxiing to not being able to power up to 40" before take off. The latter most likely being the result of using 54% saturation else you can't hold the tail down with full stick aft. Curvature yes, saturation no (full) IMO. As a matter of fact, try taking off fully loaded with fuel tanks. It is impossible without holding the stick aft which is recommended for the initial run to obtain more rudder control until speed builds up. Also, it would have been much easier to explain certain things if he used RCTRL+ENTER to show the control inputs.
  14. Will check the video later on but IIRC (can't find the post, at work now) Yo-Yo recommends leaving the pitch and roll axes all on 100% with no curves. Rudder being the exception unless you have something as precise as MFG Crosswinds. That being said, for formation flying DBS have found that slight curvature of lets say value 20 works wonders. After getting some stick time I reverted back to the 100%. To get the max out of it, you need an extension for your joystick.
  15. Some kind of heat blur from exhaust, as seen here at 0:57: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=238158846380000&set=vb.167642190098333&type=2&theater My educated guess this shows on max / take off power, the effect is minimal when on idle. Since the effect is already in the game and ever so nicely visible on the Huey, I'd like to see it on prop planes too. :)
  16. I guess it is :D But I can't fool my hearing when its not the Mustang I'm hearing. It just might be that my relatively high end gear (Essence STX & HD 595 combo) is not so well suited for games. EDIT: Hats of on capturing the idle and flybys diveplane, but the rest needs more work and balance.
  17. Tried that earlier today, and it caused more problems than fixes. Whatever I try, your sounds do not do the trick for me. I will wait for EDGE and hope for a change. Back to stock.
  18. Thank you for doing them. In spite my remarks they are still a massive improvement over stock ones.
  19. Fair enough. I haven't tried your other sound mods so I can not comment on them. About the starter - I was referring to the loudness. Since you increased the volume of priming the engine. Getting that as well. I guess I'll have to wait for EDGE and hope they do something about the sound engine, if this is the best what can be done at this moment.
  20. Lets hope for new sound engine possibilities with EDGE. If wheel rotation sounds on takeoff / landing you refer as the turbulence, IMHO this is way too loud and overpowers even engine sounds which to me is unrealistic. Probably the main reason I'm not using your mod. In-cockpit gun sounds are perfectly fine, but the external I dislike. Tone down the wheel rotation sounds, lower the frequency of the engine (not prop) sounds and you will have a winner. Also, have you considered improving the starter sounds?
  21. Thank you.
  22. IMHO this could work. Giving an option for those that have purchased P-51D outside of KS to select one flyable per their choice. Else I don't see anyone paying full price for the 51 in the future since the marked will be flooded with "aftermarket" keys from KS rewards...
  23. Or full price for Dora.
