  1. I just got it myself and I found that the best way to do it was to go on a test flight, bomb some trucks and shoot a air target, that will give you a pretty good idea of what controls you need on the stick and what you should just leave to cockpit clicking. For my X-52 I have the trim on the stick hats (as I do for IL-2) where the bottom hat handles ailerons and elevator and the upper one handles the rudder. I have the lower toggle switches for gear, flaps and future additions that i Have not decided on yet. The throttle slider controls the RPM/Prop, the top rotary (in conjunction with the pinky switch) controls the view zoom and the lower rotary is for the gunsight range. The "D" button controls the brakes and the left and right on the throttle hat switch controls the right and left wheel brakes. I am still kinda working on it, I mean, I have everything I need right now and I don't want to add too much or else it won't feel right (the pilot did not have the HOTAS that we do so I want a lot of the controls to be click with mouse and not on the stick or throttle).
  2. Here is the mission, I hope it posts it okay. Operation retrieve.miz
  3. So, I am not super awesome with the editor but I have been slowly learning on my own, anyways, I built a mission where there are several groups that spawn after specific triggers are met, that all happens as planned but I have found a bit of a snag. Okay, so I have a group of friendly units (MBT's and IFV's) that go to the enemy depot once you have secured it, the idea is that you are to help them kill two groups of enemy vehicles that spawn once that friendly group gets into it's final waypoint, the problem is that they don't attack the enemy groups, they just sit there and allow themselves to get killed by the AI enemies. I tried to set them to attack those enemy groups but it does not let me designate a target for them in the advanced waypoints options at all, is this because the enemies spawned after the friendly unit spawned? can they not attack a unit that spawns after they do?
  4. Wow, that is some really cool stuff! Any chance of a basic diagram that would highlight the basic attack angles as they relate specifically to DCS World? I mean, nothing crazy, just some basic stuff to keep in mind for the best possible results with the gun. Thanks for what you have given thus far, really interesting stuff!
  5. That is true, I suppose I have 1.2.1 to tide me and my buddies over until we can go back to the versions with newer features.
  6. I understand your point of view but I still think that one should be extremely careful how one phrases things when it comes to such a important release. I think everyone here is taking offense and being defensive for no real reason here, I am not saying that I don't want updates, I am not saying that we should not be kept informed, all I am saying is that the news we do get is usually worded in such a way that it is not hard to think "oh, okay, they are about to get this out" instead of just telling us what problems are fixed, what is being addressed and what results they have gotten thus far. In your above examples it is EXTREMELY easy to think that they are on the verge of releasing, they mention installers (which means to the layman that the patch itself is done, it might not be correct but that is the impression I got, perhaps I am simply a idiot) and they even give us a date to expect it. Please keep in mind, I am not saying this out of anger or just trying to bellyache for the heck of it, please keep in mind that many can't really do online play with the current version (at least not without playing largely gutted missions) and that makes this patch rather important, many are really anxious for it to be released. Thus, it is important to make sure that (as someone above put very well) you manage the expectations of your customers carefully. I am sorry you don't agree but that is how I feel as a customer.
  7. What is your problem? seriously? All I am saying is that they should probably not give a strong impression that we are about to get a release and then delay it yet again, I mean, if you know 100% that it is about to come out than that is the time to say that it is about to get released, if you don't, just talk about what is going on and keep us informed. I don't know where you get that I don't want updates at all, I just think they should be mindful of the impression they give in the updates.
  8. I don't think it is on his end, I tried very hard to get 1.2.2 to work for me, my buddy and I made simple missions and we still had random crashes 100% of the missions we ran, I just recently tried to join a 1.2.2 server and got kicked kicked to desktop both times (one on joining the server and one after getting my aircraft started). This is why I am sticking with 1.2.1 until 1.2.3 comes out, it is difficult because I can really only play online with others who still have 1.2.1 installed.
  9. This is pretty simple, I don't know why everyone is twisting my words. If you are at a point when you are actually going to release, then tell us, until then, just tell us about the progress. It really is that simple, not sure why everyone keeps putting words in my mouth.
  10. That is actually the only time I want to be told, assuming that it is actually coming. ;)
  11. You are twisting my words, I love constant updates, I don't like being told that it is being finished up and packaged in a installer and then, yet again, we get another message saying that there is something wrong. Constant updates are great, making us think that it is about to be released and then announcing a delay is tiresome. Not sure how you got that I don't want updates at all from my original post.
  12. This is getting tiresome, I wish they would just say "we are working on it, we will let you know when to start getting excited" instead of telling us that it is coming and then delaying another week over and over. I don't mind waiting, I do mind having my hopes brought up and then crushed every Monday.
  13. I am confused, are we facing another delay? is this official?
  14. They have released a couple of updates since the netcode has been messed up, I don't think it would be wise for them to release yet another that does not fix one of the essential functions of the sim, you personally may not care much about the online experience but MANY do and having random crashes nearly 100% of the time is frustrating. The new content is simply not as important as making sure the existing stuff actually works as designed, sorry to be blunt but many are tired of waiting for a stable online game.
  15. I don't honestly know much about the F/A-18 series of aircraft, however, I know many of you folks are really up on it so I figured I would ask here. 1.) What kind of targeting systems should we reasonably expect in DCS F/A-18C? Should we expect the LITNING targeting pod or is that just for later versions of the jet?, If not that particular pod, what one? 2.) Could we reasonably expect a "C" version cockpit that is upgraded to semi-modern or fully modern standards? I know that the jet is not that old but I wonder if we will be seeing monochrome screens or full color like the A-10C 3.) What are the chances that we will have the JSOW to play with? It seems like a really interesting weapon and I hope very much that they include it. I know there is no actual way to be sure on any of this, I am just looking for best guesses, I know that we will not know anything for sure until it is officially announced but perhaps this will spark some speculation and fun discussion. Thanks in advance!
  16. Is there a link I can follow to listen to this?
  17. While I am lucky enough to still have a copy of 1.2.1 installed and thus I can still play fully featured missions with my buddies without a rather rude random CTD on 100% of missions, I still get a bit grumpy that this has been going on so long. I know this kind of thing takes time but it is getting harder and harder to wait for something that will give me a fully updated and functional product. Anyway, aside from the rant, I wish them the best in all this.
  18. If the cost of TrackIR is a bit too much (it is for me, among other issues I have with the company), you can always look into Freetrack, you would be surprised how easy it is to set up and it makes for a fun and rather rewarding weekend project. I would link it but I am not sure of the official policy on Freetrack on this forum, I know how that topic tends to go on flight sim forums...
  19. I don't think of myself as "hardcore' but I do find that flipping those switches helps me feel immersed in the eim, it allows me to get just a little closer to understanding what it is actually like to fly A Ka-50 or a A-10C, it does not feel like a video game to me, it feels like a learning experience. FC2 was boring to me, shooting missiles is all well and good but I found that once I played Black Shark and A-10C, I simply could not go back, the FC aircraft (with the exception of the SU-25) feel very dead to me. I have never played with FC3 players and I doubt I will ever actually play a mission that allows FC3 aircraft since I only play with a isolated and small group (and we all dislike FC3 being part of DCS world though we know that is our personal opinions).
  20. This question entered my mind the minute I learned that FC3 would integrate into DCS World, personally (and I know this is really just my personal opinion), I don't really think FC3 aircraft really have a place in the DCS World battle-space, I can understand that it fills a need at this point but I wonder how many mission makers will opt for a FC3 version of the F-15 over the upcoming DCS version. I imagine that the DCS level aircraft would always have the advantage, both in terms of the response of the better flight model and more versatility in the use of the systems, honestly, I would not have it any other way, DCS level players earn that advantage by learning the systems and using them correctly, FC3 players don't have to worry about complex systems management, they just have to worry about the tactics side.
  21. I usually only play with a buddy of mine online, at the most we have three players total, it crashed often even then, nothing complex was going on mission wise either, just simple stuff. I think the crashes are worse than you let on I am afraid.
  22. Are we talking about the random CTDs that kick every client off the server? If so (and I hope so!), that is a great find and easy advice.
  23. So the random MP CTD crashes are still there?
  24. Check your settings, specifically, check to make sure your "scenes" setting is not set to low, that will cause what I am seeing in the screenshots, I fixed it by setting them to medium (or you could try high also).
  25. In addition to the solitaire module, you will also get a base command module that has two buttons, a "activate two week base exercise mode" and a MOPP level mode, activated at the right time, they will ingratiate yourself to higher ups and put you in line for further promotion.
