  1. TY Heater and Bignewy!
  2. No worries R1pe - it's forgotten already  respect for coming back to me tho. Some MP stuff planned next - have tangled a bit on the servers, well good fun :) but need Tspeak / new mic. + to work out how it all works - WIP. See you round buddy & Cheers. By the way thanks Michaelski:) agreed with alot of what you said:) ...ED are sitting on a potential goldmine here! Now any vids anyone??! But preferrably not mine...!:) For the love of.......!! Even I'm sick of seeing my name as the last poster on this thread:doh: V signing off from this thread (for a some...time...:))
  3. It'd be good to get this thread moving again... Too much tumble weed already:) Does anyone have a vid or anything OT they can post? It'd be good to get this thread moving again - I'll post something if no one else does, but would prefer not to for the mo. Anymore MP stuff? There must be some good scrapping going on somewhere surely? I recon there's gotta be a few COD people looking here for an alternative right now I guess? Re SP - I know the AI is being reworked but there's still some darned good sport to be had:) I'm currently playing with 4v4 & going to test 8v8, if my rig can handle it (looking good with 8v4 so far). Lots of opportunities to practise shooting (which I need), and zooming tactics etc. if I survive the first few mins. The Ai do go a bit suicidal after they've 'killed' once at the moment, but if they're re-engaged then they seem to snap out of it, so far anyways. Anyway if somebody can get this thread moving again it would be good:) And I'll go do my 100 hour checks:) Respect
  4. Hi R1pe, Hope you're good. Is this one addressed to me mate? It's a little ambiguous, but seems to be both barbed, and pointed at me? I do hope I'm mistaken? It has more than a touch of the banana forums to it! If so I haven't told any highly respected fellow member of this forum, yourself included, that they're doing anything wrong! ??? I'm confuesd? Your post made me review ALL my own posts to check that I had't done something stupid:) I'm so glad you're not a Mod or Ed team member otherwise I'd be questioning my own judgment:) I was told off by Sobek just the other day:( However I do have alot of enthusiasm for this module. And as such have posted frequently, initialy asking for help, and then trying to help others... ...that have asked for help. Plus I have wanted to keep some momentum up with this new and exciting departue ED have made. Taildraggers (and specifically A2A) is my passion you see, and this is the best by far! And it hints at amazing possibilities for the future. Incidentally, and possibly like yourself I'm not new to this forum or to DCS - having many 100's of hours on both the KA50 and the A10C - just new to trying to contribute to it's momentum. Anyway I haven't meant to be patronising or condescending in any of my posts to you, or anyone else, just very enthusiastic! My sincere apologies if it has appeared differently, if so my enthusiasm has got the better of me. If I take your comments at face value then it appears that like me, you're fairly new to this forum? And again like me you're not sure of all the forum etiquet, perhaps? So if you're msg was indeed intended for me, perhaps next time you could PM me, it will be less embarrassing for both of us - thanks. If your msg was not for me then I apologise once more. Hopefully you were just being very very unclear:) Sincerely the very best & S! V Thanks for the 'ace' bit tho:) :)
  5. V Encouraging!
  6. Incidentally the above mentioned FW190 was evaluated at RAE Farnborough in 1942 (according to Quill's account). I have searched this evening on the UK public records office site for the report but couldn't find it, although the search engine is a blunt instrument. There are other wind tunnel test results for various types, some non UK - will post again if anything comes up.
  7. http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=67779&stc=1&d=1341448959 This may be of use? Can't we go and 'borrow' a FW190? A while back I was reading the autobiography of Jeffrey Quill - 'Spitfire, a test pilot's story', when they had this problem they started cooking up plans to pinch one from France in 1942. A Cpt. Pinckney and a handful of commandos (plus a understandably reluctant pilot - Mr Quill) were planning to pop over and borrow one for the duration so to speak - fortunately as I think is well known one was 'delivered' to S Wales in time to prevent the operation. Hope the attachment works haven't test flown attachments before. V
  8. Cheers Mac, Yep it certainly showed off the physics model as I skipped down the strip. Yeah the model is pretty awesome isn't it - I may go as far as to say beautiful - and the bombs up close have amazing texturing - gloss finish with scratches - you can't see it the my vid cos it's in the shade and I hadn't looked that closely b4. Liking the snap roll and the flat spins - that snap roll looks evil from a ride comfort point of view:) Gotta have a light breakfast to do that one. Will try tightening up the barrel and see if I can do a roll/pylon ratio of 1:1:)
  9. Wow! Very nice. and that alu looks amazing! TY
  10. This sounds good - some variety and hopefully still some choices (between a terminator and a rookie) - I'm sure what ever changes are being made will be a further improvement on what is already a truly outstanding module. Thanks
  11. This is Mac's vid - Mac - It's just the bit after the = sign that you paste between the bracketed youtubes, so to speak. That's a nice move by the way:) I've been playing around editing some views together - first time I've played with making a 'movie'. Not the most exciting vid and both some dodgy flying and some dodgy editing but hey ho - it's all good fun. I used a bombimg practise trk - it's a bit more interesting than the circuit test movie I did. I think I've worked out how to at least scare the enemy with bombs:music_whistling: Love my landing - boomps a daisy!
  12. I would dearly love to see WWII content in DCS World. Just an non flyable axis machine would be great for now! DCS is obviously entering a new phase with very positive developments happening right now with CA and the 3rd party fleet of flyables in the pipeline - these things must have taken a lot of time to get to even the announcement stage, I guess. So I'm optimistic that these things will come (to a lesser or greater extent) with time. But it might take a considerable amount of time of course. I'm tinkering with 3d max but it is just tinkering at the mo. Fingers crossed for a WWII era map and a wide range of period assets driving, steaming and flying around the place, poofing their guns off at each other:) - but think how much work is involved in doing all that! Still ever optimistic.
  13. I was playing with a 4v4 (P51) mission, all AI for the mo, and watching behaviour - they merge and break off into individual 1v1 fights after a short furball - slowly a winner of each fight prevails (apart from the odd collision), BUT then as they start to seem to want to head back towards each other to form up again, they (so far anyway) turn and and seem to try to return to the sight of the end of their particular fight. Guessing wildly here, but it's as if the killed AI unit after a short time becomes the target of primary interest again - (guessing wilder still) and perhaps passes through the maps surface? As the AI in question seems to be trying to intercept a target below the map's surface?? No firing, just thats how it could be (mis?) interpretted. All AI have a route and base to return to, and these tests are partially over the sea so it's not steep terrain getting in the way all the time. I will test more - these are observations after only 3 or 4 test runs (it takes 25+ min to merge).
  14. Mop - I don't know anything about instant action, but if you generate your own mission in ME you can make sure it's a balanced fight - I use the parameters to practise - 10k ft, 300mph, head to head about 5miles away from each other... (Apparently 'AI skill' really means detection range - i have it on 'high' I think, but it in theory makes little difference once engaged). For the above you need to practise, watch others and research stuff:) For this above I suspect the altitudes are different between the two missions - the air is thin up high - you must keep the angle of attack lower or you will tumble. Oh, and don't 'grab' the stick anyway:) Wags's mission is up at 20k - it's much harder to control at medium and high alt - I practised at 10K and then 'moved upstairs'. Hope this helps V
  15. Hi Mop - Do you know about the weight error correction that's needed? The AI is missing the weight of his ammo - that'll make a difference if you didn't know already. (Details earlier in this thread somewhere). Otherwise all I can say is I know the feeling - I wanted to throw my stick through my monitor on several occasions - seriously. I must have run my practise mission about a hundred plus times before I briefly found myself on his 6 - did I say briefly already. I saved the track whenever I made some progress and tried to work out what I did that worked and visa versa. My stats said i'd been killed 82 times and beat him 15 times at one point - by 'beat him' it meant he'd had a flying accident (sometimes involving me:music_whistling: ). Then I started to work things out a bit, and put some holes in him (occasionally), but it took lots & lots & lots of practise. You've got him once already!
  16. Cheers for your kind words Leafer Dude, but my shooting generally is poor - needs work - but it's funny the fewer rounds remaining the more careful and controlled I got:D Yeah the enemy wont need to shoot us down if we blow ourselves up after 10 mins:doh: - some scraps I've had have gone beyond 20mins with pretty much everything pushed fully forward at the end! Hope and trust the AI's performance will be suitably levelled!
  17. Someone said this the other day about something similar, but it needs to be repeated... It's just a flesh wound! Yep truly awesome this 51 sim.
  18. I haven't been posting these lately because they're all pretty similar... But I wanted to show Leafer how crepe my shooting really is... down to my inner guns 3/4 of the way through!!:music_whistling: I know the sights not setup, this scrap was couple of weeks ago. I do set that up now. I've been trying to get some more separation on the second pass so I've been pushing out slightly, just before pulling him onto the line - seems to help reduce the vertical scissor Gmare:) Still need to work this out more as you can see - gonna try horizontal separation only as Leafer suggested and see if that helps more. Interesting stall and recovery in the middle of, I haven't looked at that from outside yet? Leafer dude, am still working on a couple of other vids but I'm trying to edit stuff together so it's slow, (and there's footie tonight, I'm in the UK) so it might take a wee while more. Anyone know how the AI will be affected when engine performance limitations are implemented?
  19. Yep nice one indeed. Try hard to get on his six though. Jousting as I call it (or head on attacks) are dangerous, he's a better shot than us and it's only a matter of time before you clip each other. when you're about to pass each other, turn hard into him as early as pos (before you pass can work), put him on the lift line, aim the lift line slightly behind his AC and don't let him off! All of that has to be balanced with keeping your speed up obviously. Don't think I'm going to get into trouble for recommending SIMHQ's site - they have an excellent reference page including amongst other jems, some ACM stuff. Keep practising and read some ACM ref stuff.
  20. Nice one for sticking another vid up Leafer. You're shooting is way better (and more calm) than mine - I have a tendancy to panic when he's in the sight:doh: And I'm usually live bait when I loose sight of him - very tenacious scrapping dude! I've spent a couple or three evenings just trying to do wheelers in a circuits mission (no wind) - T/O is OK for me mostly now, LDG is still tricky but I'm getting there - one thing I do know is touchdown has to be close to 120 indicated and smooth as a ladies inner thigh. I have two or three vids which am working on will post Sunday eve. Ta.
  21. I'm no expert Mop but I think this has to be true - if the turn is coordinated i.e. the ball is centred, then your not side-slipping through the airflow, thus less drag, thus you'll keep / gain more V. The opposite is when you need to slow down on approach because perhaps you're a touch high, side-slip on purpose and you'll be able to loose height but still control your speed through the extra drag. Keep at it.
  22. testing again again Test for author's name in quote... Testing again. EDIT: I've done this before but can't remember what I did different to have quotes show the author's name!
  23. Nice going Mop! You sure ruined his day! Practise, practise, practise! that's all you need to do to beat this devil. See if you can't turn in harder after the pass - but not too hard - make sure your using a measured amount of rudder to speed your rate of turn. Well played Dude! V
  24. Sounds like your having a 'Marianas turkey shoot' there Leafer :) Very nice flying by the sounds - I was trying to put my finger on why some merges end up with it being 'easy' to get on his tail, and other times far less so - I think the difference is the lateral separation thing you mention... interesting. I was heading in that direction but it hadn't quite clicked. See if you can't find some time to stick another vid up. Nah worries if you aint got time. I like learning from seeing how others do stuff (and sure other people do also). I'm working on some vids myself (trying wheelers, trying to actually hit stuff with bombs, messing about with pylons:), and A2A stuff) but only have time on weekends - hopefully I'll have something this weekend worth posting. Death to all AI
