It stopped working since I installed some modules and Tacview (there's probably been some Windows updates in the background too), of course this could be coincidental.

Thoughts on 1070 FE to 1080 TI?
Django replied to Backy 51's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
So far it looks like the low point was perhaps the end of August. I'm hoping the prices will drop again once the RTX cards are released. I was planning on a 1080Ti, I just wonder if I need this for non-VR and good frame rates with high settings??? -
Here's the error message: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: CLR20r3 Problem Signature 01: DCS Updater Utility.exe Problem Signature 02: 9.13.2018.0 Problem Signature 03: 5b9a970e Problem Signature 04: System.Drawing Problem Signature 05: 4.7.3163.0 Problem Signature 06: 5b58fc53 Problem Signature 07: 5b4 Problem Signature 08: 6b Problem Signature 09: System.InvalidOperationException OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

The Updater GUI Utility crashes, I don't get passed the splash screen. Windows gives me an error message which includes: "System.Drawing" "System.InvalidOperationException" # Downloaded the latest version 9.13.2018 but it crashes just like before. # I've successfully updated my v2.5OB to the latest OB using the command line. # The last time I successfully ran the utility was before I installed some DCS modules. # My OS is Windows7 Any ideas what is causing this? Are there any GUI Utility configuration files in my user area I could try deleting?
-
OK guys take a guess - I'm really stuck with this!
-
After installing some modules recently Skatezilla's GUI tool now crashes whenever I try to start it. # Using the latest version of the tool. # Successfully updated my v2.5OB to latest OB version using command line. Still the GUI tool crashes even before displaying the actual GUI window and Windows7 gives me an error message. Any ideas what could be causing the crashes?
-
So I've managed to update to 2.5-OB v2.2.20143 but still no sound, any ideas???
-
In the end I didn't move the DCS folders to a new PC but did have to do a Windows reinstall for other reasons. So the sims are on the same hard drive. # For 1.5.8 I ran the updater successfully but there is no sound in the sim. # For 2.5-OB the cleanup ran successfully but the repair failed with the error message "Version 2.5.2.17559.377 is not available". The sim does run but there is no sound. Q4) Should I use the gui utility to update to the latest 2.5-OB version? Q5) Why is there no sound?
-
I want to avoid having to re-download 2.5(OB) for my new PC build. # My DCS World install history: 1.5.8 -> 1.5.8(Final) + 2.5(OB) on a Win7 PC. # The new PC will be Win10. # DCS World will be on a separate physical drive in the new PC. Q1) Will it be possible to copy the Eagle Dynamics folder on my old PC to the drive I will be using in the new PC, then after I've installed Windows 10 on the new PC, simply run the DCS World installer and point it to the copied install folder? Q2) Given my DCS World install history, are there any dependencies between the 1.5.8(Final) and 2.5(OB) installs that would prevent me from just copying one of the DCS World folders to the new PC. Q3) Any other housekeeping?

I'm kind of "stuck" on choosing a 32GB 3200 kit for Asus Crosshair VII M/B. I've seen dual channel kits with either 2 or 4 modules - why would I want a 4x 8GB dual channel kit??? Also noticed that only Gskill have an up to date memory configurator. So anyone running 32GB 3200 on Crosshair VII (or a Strix board)?
-
The Crosshair VII is supposed to support 3200MHz memory as an "OC" mode and I've seen e.g. some bundled kits with Crosshair VII + 4x Corsair 3200 LPX memory (but they don't say precisely what modules). I really don't want to miss out on 3200MHz!
-
I'm surprised to see that dual channel 32GB 3200 kits are not on the QVL for the Asus Crosshair VII Hero. I was planning to get this Corsair kit. Any suggestions of compatible 32GB 3200 Kits memory? (I've seen several builds with G-Skill Trident-Z kits.)

That aircraft is a Super Hornet not an F/A-18C.

Final Pc Build specs help request I promise.

 Did you check memory compatibility? -
Please forgive the vagueness of this question but I haven't done benchmarking on my gaming PC before. Q) What are the best benchmarking applications for gaming systems, what are you using? E.g. I've seen Aida64 mentioned in many benchmarking discussions.

Does anything over AF x8 actually do anything in DCS2.5? -
OK so now my build is looking like this: CPU: R7 2700X (not OCing - perhaps with future CPU) CPU H/S: Stock GPU: EVGA GTX 1080Ti Black Edition OR EVGA 1080Ti SC2 M/B: Asus ROG Crosshair VII Hero (mainly for future proofing) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 2x16 kit Storage: 2X Samsung 860 Evo 500GB PSU: Reuse 5+yo Corsair TX-850 Case: Reuse Coolar Master CM690II OS: Windows 10 (retaill or OEM???) Monitor: 1440p capable 27' GSync OR 32' Around £1800 + monitor + HOTAS Any ideas for displays? (I'd like to possibly get more displays in the future if next generation VR is still not good enough.)
-
Is it worth overclocking the 1080Ti? I'm torn between: EVGA 1080Ti SC Black Edition £665 EVGA 1080Ti SC2 £695 Previously, more than 12 months ago the SC2 could have been found on offer for around d £660. I'm wondering if either the SC or SC2 will have a more significant price drop after the t11## release? (BTW I think the 11## will be overpriced from the start... and then the bit coin miners... [sigh]!!!)
-
From reviews etc I concluded I wouldn't see any difference between the SC2 and the FTW3 although it runs cooler.
-
With Nvidia 11## due to appear later this month I'm anticipating 1080Ti price drops - I'm not going to wait for the 1180Ti. I was wondering what would be your choice of GTX1080Ti to go for? So far I'm looking at: 1) EVGA SC Black Edition OR SC2 (Clocks are the same so what is the difference between these two, just the cooler?) 2) MSI Gaming X 3) Asus ROG Strix OC (Don't think I'll get a good deal even with a price drop though.)
